OMG wishing Fleur on Neil?! Vito didn't do the choreo last night and I think salsas have been messy in the last few years. Even Hamza's was overstuffed but it worked partly because the lifts worked so well.
I agree that the salsa had too much going on - the really impressive bits like the backbend and the final bit with Vito rising from the floor might have had more impact if it was less overstuffed. But I love their partnership and Fleur wanted to do a Tina Turner/Beyoncé type dance..

It's telling the only good Salsa this year involved Jowita. Those lifts worked so well because Jowita had done them regularly with Michael, Jowita is also trained in Salsa and has taught salsa classes in the past.

I would love a big shake up in the creative and choreography teams sweep them all out, bar the couple who do AT because I feel that's an area the show has massively improved on since they came on board, then replace Jason Gilkison and start looking beyond Burn the floor as Pro recruitment office.

It's all well and good being fair but the fact is there are Pro's that have proven themselves to be excellent teachers and choreographers putting on a great show for viewers, they should be given celebs that are likely to do well. Wasting those sorts of Pros on duffers really does the viewers a disservice.
Like giving Kai a very obvious first boot. Even giving Tony to Katya imo was a mistake yes they are a great partnership and had some really fun routines but just think what she could be doing with the likes of Tyler!

Jowita and Hamza's salsa was choreographed by outside choreographers.

Salsa's, Argentine Tango's, Charleston's and Couple choice are not choreographed by the pros because they are 'speciality' dances; these are dances which the pros don't grow up learning in depth because they are not regularly performed in the competition circuits.

Probably an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't want Rylan on the main show. I can see he'd be an obvious choice but is there not another celeb superfan who could replace Tess? I don't get to watch ITT much but surely there must be a regular Friday panellist who would do a good job? (Not sure who though).

Re Anton....has he ever not believed his own hype?!!

One bland contestant down, about 5 more to go.

I’ve been thinking about why Fleur isn’t connecting with viewers and I don’t think it’s just down to some of her dances being messy or her lack of technique - people will forgive bad dancing if you have something else to offer and the more I think about it, she’s just not very interesting. It’s a shame cos she seems nice enough but like so many others this series, she’s a bit dull.

I agree with everyone here, it’s time for a shake up. For me, who sees themselves as a strictly expert having watched every year 😉 I would suggest:

- Max 12 celebs, it only now that the shows aren’t seeming like a total slog
- Sort the pros out. Stop picking from a pool of so you think you can dance winners and go back to proper ballroom and Latin champions etc
- swerve couples choice
- Bring back a 50/50 split on ballroom and Latin each week and leave Argentine tango and Charleston until the quarter final
- 2 themes a year- Halloween and then one that changes every year
- get rid of the VTs we don’t need them

I'm not at all an expert, am a relatively new watcher and I 100% agree with what you say.

I watch the recorded version so that I can cut out what i consider fillers. I don't really care what the celebrity's family has to say, for example. 😁

Plus I think the pros need to be spoken to ...all the gushing over use of the word proud and the really over the top leaping about after they dance. I get that they are pleased etc etc but reign it in a bit!

I know but the Pro's still have to teach it and they are allowed to tweak it.

I feel like on balance the best dancer does usually win, but there are some notable exceptions. Chris Hollins, Ore, Tom Chambers, Joe McFadden. I feel like Stacey Dooley is possibly the only woman to win who wasn’t the best dancer on their series (imo).

chris/ore/tom are just confirmation to me that a male contestant really only needs one good dance to win. joe’s win still confuses me but i think the fact that he was up against female contestants who the audience didn’t like much helped him.

viewers/voters are much harder on women than they are on men. we’ve had a few underwhelming male winners and maybe only two (danny and simon) who you could say were robbed. the list of amazing female contestants done wrong seems much longer!

I also think it’s time for Tess to go but let’s be honest would she ever get another gig? She’s hardly the best presenter out there she knows she got it cushy at strictly, does she ever do anything for the rest of the year? She’s going nowhere unless she gets given the boot although it wouldn’t surprise me if she has a non sackable clause in her contract 😂

It really is so much harder for a woman to win. Not only do they have to be a great dancer but they also need a certain vulnerability and/or be extremely likeable at the same time.

We have Len/production to thank for a lot of that … it really started in series 3 when I think they were beginning to panic a male celeb would never win and so went completely over the top. Len started spurtling SPORTSMAN every time Darren Gough set foot on the floor. The ‘it’s harder for Blokey, bloke men, especially SPORTSMEN’ started there. Telling Darren and Matt the next series about how they were leading expert backseat driver Lila while Lilia stood with a look of mild distain was hilarious. They did such a good job, they’ve never really managed to pull it back.

Kym was really good this week, the best rumba on Strictly for a while, I would have put her top of the leaderboard. I liked Monkseal's comment about Kym finally finding herself in the role of murderous ice cold snow witch 😆

What was Anton on last night? That wig went to his head. He criticised Molly's AT and then gave it a 9, gave a 10 to a Cha Cha that had hardly any Cha Cha in it, and then said Ellie T was his favourite dance of the night before giving it one less mark than he gave Tyler 🤷‍♀️

I like Helen, and still think she will be in the final, but she's not the runaway winner I thought she would be at the start. I wouldn't rule her out just yet though, her journey is still progressing nicely.

Hamza is an angel and I want him to win, but it feels too early to say he has it sewn up already. I know he's way ahead in the exit polls and the bookies favourite, but there are still 7 weeks to go. Whatever happens though, I think he will do very well out of this career wise, and that's all you can really hope for from the Strictly experience :)

Craig shot him a look for that 10. I'd say he got some telling off.

Do you think that maybe it’s mainly women who vote, and they tend to vote for who they fancy? I can see in Tony’s case, for example, that he might get some dedicated Arsenal fans voting, where they wouldn’t normally bother. But I wonder what the demographic is for people who do actually bother to vote? I don’t suppose there’s any way of knowing really.
It’s definitely a popularity contest as much as a talent one; but that’s always going to be the case with a show where there’s a public vote involved.

I thought James looked quite stressed in the bit I watched where Davood spoke to him. I'm not surprised he is gone but I feel he did his best. He was good humoured about feedback and I think he really wanted to get things right. I also wonder if he thought it would be easier than it turned out to be as all the recent Eastenders did well. He gave it his all, anyway.
