I actually think there's a massive problem with the choreography this year. I don't know if it's the standard of the pros, or as a result of the changing of the guard as new pros come in, but there's been very few wow moments this series. I can only really think of Hamzas salsa and it had new lifts and new moves and was very obviously a salsa.
Actually Richie's quickstep and a lot of Katyas choreography has been interesting too but both are from seasoned pros.
I just feel like most of the dances don't have the flavour of the supposed dance they're doing. It's all very samey and showboatty!
Give me a beautifully executed waltz that takes my breath away and makes me dream of being whisked around a ballroom.

This is what I want back.

Way less gimmicky, even the VT.

This is one of my all-time favourite SCD dances: no gimmicks, no CGI, no stupid theme, no time-wasting messing about, appropriate music, beautiful costumes, and a dance performed in hold with attention to detail and proper technique.

It’s telling that few of the pros are 10-dance specialists as compared to the earlier series. I can just imagine Karen Hardy’s face if someone told her she was going to be dancing a Charleston as an evil bee or running around manically as Marge Simpson for a thing called a ‘couple’s choice’ 🤣

I know it has been said many times, but replace Tessbot with Rylan. She has been there donkey's years and is no better. Rylan is far wittier and spontaneous.

I did like Anton, but he is starting to believe his hype too much.
Probably an unpopular opinion but I wouldn't want Rylan on the main show. I can see he'd be an obvious choice but is there not another celeb superfan who could replace Tess? I don't get to watch ITT much but surely there must be a regular Friday panellist who would do a good job? (Not sure who though).

Re Anton....has he ever not believed his own hype?!!

Gosh that looks really weird! Is the floor smaller? The judges are so close together! Lol.

What I'd prefer:
Less dance couples
Get rid of Tess, Motsi and Shirley
No dicking about with props, just dance. I'm on Lens side about that
No dicking about in the VT. That must annoy the pros as well, takes precious time away from training
Songs that *actually suit* the dance being performed!

I've felt a bit like the standard of teaching and dancing has dropped this year and I wonder if its because nearly everything is back to normal. The last couple of years have had covid restrictions so there was just a focus on the dancing. This year they're being pulled in every direction doing VTs, extra silly filming promos, ITT, awards ceremonies and premieres etc. And for the first time in a while, most of them are also busy with their day jobs while doing strictly.

So if Kai and Nadiya were together during last years series was the 'are they, aren't they' with AJ set up as a distraction?
Nadiya had only recently split with her ex so it would keep media away from a fledgling relationship.
Also I seem to remember Dan Walker playing a lot of golf with Kai- makes sense if K & N are meeting up round rehearsals

I agree totally. The whole dance floor unhindered for the viewer so that we can see the dancing. Not to mention the gorgeous outfits. And I seem to remember the singing being so much better ? Is it all to do with the new guy who was with the X Factor ? Is he trying to find a new audience, a new demographic ? Younger people who would have found Strictly a bit of a joke ? If so, I think he will find that that age group are not sitting in their living rooms on a Saturday night watching tele.

Can we also ban the Pro dancers from screaming the place down after each dance, please?! Not sure who started it but those ridiculously hammed up over-reactions never used to be a thing and a good performance should speak for itself! Even when the performances are tit they still jump around and screech like right dickheads! 🙄

Karen & Mark are my all-time fave Strictly couple. Can we not get Karen on the judging panel?

I think it might have been Kevin Clifton that started it. I remember Neil doing it last year after Nina's awful tango and it just seemed a bit desperate

Talking of Neil, the show (and Neil) making self-aware jokes about his bench-dwelling just makes me me feel a bit sad - if he's not good enough, then maybe just let him go

I HATE that! The second the dance finishes they start jumping up & down, punching the air and shrieking ‘YES!!! YES!!!! YOU NAILED IT!!!! WOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!’

It absolutely ruins it 🤬

I’m being grumpy, but I’m starting to get so tired of the hammy acting before the dancing begins. I hope it’s taken into account when scoring those who don’t fill up some of their allotted time with climbing in or out of a prop whilst gurning manically!
I just want to see clever, well executed dance routines.
I thought Ellie S’s routine was awful - again using props and costumes to hide a lacklustre routine.
Tony seemed to have greatly improved last night, I also enjoyed Ellie T’s dance.
I thought everyone else was ok but not hugely memorable - maybe I was only half concentrating on it.
Wasn't that one of Lens pet peeves? He used to pull them up for wasting 30 seconds fannying about before they got into hold ! I miss Len !

I thought he was a good sport in the Elle-Nikita skit.

I think give him another shot at a partner just for that 🤣.
