Sorry to skirt back to Brendan. I remember him hinting before that he was sacked. I vaguely remember him having a blow out with shirley the year before he disappeared and I think that was that. Maybe Shirl has a bit more pull than we'd imagine.

I do think he added something a bit more interesting to the show and it was nice to have two of the orginals there.

No I'm not Brendan 😆

I only get invested in Strictly very sporadically (last one I properly watched was 2019, before that it was 2015), but I'm loving this series! I initially started watching this year for Will, but the only reason I even found this thread was to make sure I'm not imagining him coming across terribly  I get the impression that he's putting pressure on himself to get a lot of work out of this, which I think he naturally would do if he'd just chill out a bit. I also noticed that he's the only one who doesn't seem to bother following or interacting with the other contestants on social media. Could mean nothing, but it doesn't really seem in the friendly Strictly spirit! He manages to come across as aggressively competitive and above it all at the same time - I thought it was rude that he pretended to never have heard of a VW when other contestants have already done it and therefore danced/discussed it right in front of his eyes.

Despite Will being a let down, I'm sticking around for Hamza and, surprisingly, Molly. Both exude pure joy when they dance, clearly work hard without fussing, and don't take themselves too seriously. They also both seem to say thank you more than anyone else, so maybe I'm just a sucker for good manners! I hope Molly can pull some votes from somewhere - I'm not quite confident enough in Hamza's vote yet to give his away to anyone else, but if he has a good routine this week I might chuck her one or two. Will be fuming if she ends up in a dance-off before bloody Jayde.

Yes, BIB is an excellent point. Has he literally took no notice of what any other couple has done? If he's that competitive, it doesn't ring true.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure he claimed that she had him sacked for arguing with her.

I think he often comes off a bit of a prick, but FWIW, every clip I've ever seen of him arguing with the judges, I thought he was right. 🤷‍♀️

I do miss the outspoken/bad boy character of pro on the show and part of me does want Brendan back to avenge Shirley but he wasn't exactly a great pro if we're being totally honest and did deserve to go.

He only had 4 successes in 15 series and seemed deeply in awe of those partners. Almost all of the 11 others consisted of him either being stroppy in the early series or just putting in the minimum effort in later series, all of the ones after Sophie in particular. He had only one partnership with a weaker celeb where it seemed like he really was a nurturing partner and gave them a good experience (Jo Wood). That's a dismal record and why continue to hire a pro whose act is either to make his partners cry, put in minimal effort or be in total awe of them?

James did the bad boy thing better IMO.

Molly and Carlos seem to be rehearsing at Sylvia Young theatre school and this will prob be part of her VT for the CC looking at the camera equipment. I guess it ties to the 'school' theme but wonder if reminding everyone you went to stage school is best at this stage of the competition?

I think it was a long standing thing as she would never train him in his competition days.

it’s very risky!! especially given how much of the audience go “stage school = trained dancer” - i don’t think i would have done it, but i guess they’re trying desperately to link grange hill to their couples choice 🤣

To be fair, James at least knew how to work with and get the best out of a celeb and had some good partnerships along the way, only really his first and last seasons that were bad.
I don’t mind James. I think his fault is that he’s honest and says what he thinks. Sometimes, that makes him an hole for sure. But mostly it’s pretty brave as most people don’t stand up for themselves like he does. I don’t always agree with him but I admire his candour! He could never be a judge because he’d hurt everyone’s feelings 🤣 but I like seeing his tweets on a Saturday night and I almost always agree with him!

Agree re Molly.
I don't know very much about dancing but I thought, especially last Saturday that she actually looked like one of the pros.
And 100% agree, she had better NOT, or even worse end up leaving before Jayde, whom the judges are pussyfooting around.

Hamza is simply adorable and their dance last Saturday was amazing. He and Jowita are perfectly matched, imo.

i always read his tweets on a saturday too! i actually think he does himself a disservice by saying he would upset people, because i always find his comments honest and encouraging (apart from when it’s a theme he doesn’t get!) i think he’d be a decent judge but obviously wouldn’t vibe with the panel as it is.

Molly would be a DO Assassin, there is nobody I think she wouldn't beat there.

He was partnered with Charlotte Hawkins, who was absolutely shocking to be fair. I think he had her do Shirley’s signature move in the Cha Cha and it went horribly wrong.
then they had a Tango … which must have been movie week because Brendan was having great fun as Maverick (original version) on a motor bike in a leather jacket … which was also dreadful, and Brendan went full on white knight .
