Just caught up with the show and the threads. You’re a chatty lot 😂

- Shirley skipped a week and came as Dot Cotton tribute for BBC centenary. What did she look like.
- I’m a little worried than I’m liking Motsi judge this year- could be because I can’t stand Shirley so much
-Hamza, waw, he was FAB-U-LOUS darlings
- James was way over marked. Him and Any are my toilet break. So boring.
- Gorkagate - he’s been with Helen all week when we’ve all read the headlines about her ex. He no doubt sees what a strong woman she is despite being humiliated and he probably wanted to say how proud he is of her. Let’s face it, it was a huge thing to do live tv to millions of viewers after such a crappy week.
- Fleur was fab. I couldn’t help think when Shirley was trying, through clenched teeth to compliment her, that she wanted her sent home last week
- Just can’t warm to Kim
- Jade and Tyler were way over marked. How soft are they with Jade - and Shirley just wets her knickers at the thought of Tyler. She went all coy before giving her verdict, I had mega second hand embarrassment for her.
-Love Tony. He’s making Strictly for me this year. Love His positive attitude and him improving every week is nothing to do with the fact that I’m a little in love with the man

Biggest thing this week TOO MANY SOB STORIES. Yikes get on with it, it’s a bloody dance show, meant to be fun on a Saturday night
I have yet to catch up but I love this summary.

Already looking forward to seeing Shirley trying to compliment Fleur!
Jayde is being over marked, anything she has 'danced' to date, I think I could do - and I'm no dancer!
I absolutely love Tony. After the first night, I thought he would be first out, or second at least. I love his attitude and he is clearly giving it his all.

Sob stories should have no place in any light entertainment show, imo.

Far too many woe is me stories for my liking. Everyone in life has some kind of story, upset, loss but don’t feel the need to share with the masses. It’s a Saturday night entertainment show, not a confession. Makes me not want to vote for them when they roll out the stories.

absolutely agree - it does seem to be being actively encouraged not only in the pre-dance build-up but also in the Clauditorium - the focus needs to be returned to the joyousness (or otherwise) and reception of the dance itself. I think this, in part, led to Gork's comments having witnessed the outpourings from others (and ? motives) knowing that Helen was, like Kym, currently experiencing the worst times of them all.

Claudia should get things 'back on track' to the wonderful happy Clauditorium it used to be, rather than the Sobfest it is becoming - as presenter of the chatty after-talk, she should be steering the positive vibe. Leave the back-story solely to the Couples Choice pre-dance VT.

I agree with all of the above - I never watched pop idol or Britain’s got talent because of all the sob stories and I don’t want it on strictly. These are successful people getting paid more than the average annual salary in the UK to learn to dance (think it’s about 30k from memory minimum). Please can they get a grip and be more Hamza - his attitude is great.

(Haven't read spoilers and she may have gone last night tbf so this could be academic anyway 😂) I get that it is tricky to be very harsh on somebody who clearly has physical limitations - but there has to be a point where she can't keep going through on goodwill and 'well done for getting up off the floor'. It is a dance competition and I just don't see much dance from her so far. Lots of walking and marching around.
I like Karen but she needs to really start pushing Jayde more. It all seems a bit safe so far.
And the judges overmarking is not helping her. All seems a bit patronising - 'ah well done. You tried. Look at us being inclusive'.
Certainly not a level playing field. Which is so unfair. Jayde gets an 8 for doing very little, then a dancer who wows with something spectacular is given a nine. Jayde has two things in her favour, her weight and her sexuality, if she is marked low, the woke brigade will come down on the judges like a ton of bricks. Strictly is fast becoming a window on the world, where every criticism is taken, not on face value, but as a slur on sexuality, appearance, race and anything else that is hidden behind. No matter if Jayde is the most lovely person in the world, she is still in the show though she has shown no skill. Which wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t a competition. I suppose eventually the public vote will not matter, when all the really good dancers are the only ones left standing, then the judges will be forced to send her home. Propaganda is alive and well, and being fed to us through our screen. If Jayde shows us a good dance next week, I will be more than willing to eat my words.

I can’t get why every has to have meaning. Look luv, you’re skipping abhat for 90 seconds dressed in an outfit covered in a number of rapidly depleting sequins while Dave Arch’s. finest warbles an inappropriate tune behind you. That’s it. You are not commenting on the state of the nation via dance.

Jade is straight and has a long term partner ? Husband? She just wanted to dance with a female because she wanted to lead and do the lifts.

As far as Google is aware at least, Jayde is straight.

It’s a light hearted dancing show ffs, it’s never that deep.

Exactly this. For the most part, it’s prancing around in sequins and fake tan on the telly.
The last time anything was genuinely nationally meaningful and moving was Bill Bailey’s comments in the final about how ‘the show must go on’ at exactly the point that the Christmas restrictions had been announced, and it was clear that the cast and crew were all highly emotional.
I still remember Claudia and Tess’s voices breaking when they thanked everybody for giving up their family lives just put the show together as a bit of shiny distraction from the shitness of it all.

I appreciated the ones who just got on with it last night: Hamza had been sick too and it wasn’t mentioned. Fleur had a bad week but was upbeat. Tony went very lightly on his issues but got the point over.

I found Jayde’s story very moving. It certainly outweighed Will’s (Typhoid Maurice as I’ll always know him) manflu.

If that were the point of the show, I would agree with you wholeheartedly ffs, but, sadly it’s a dancing competition. And if you think ffs that these shows aren’t deep behind the scenes, you have a lot to learn ffs. But, I hold my hands up, I was wrong about Jayde, she is not playing the sexuality card. Ffs. Oh, how good it must be to just belittle someone by being dismissive rather than disagreeing with a proper point of view.
