There are couples who are fawned over and overmarked and couples who are picked up on technicalities and undermarked. It’s ‘his’ dance and I think he thought it would be Helen’s breakthrough.

I don’t think for a second it didn’t come from anywhere but a good place, he seemed really frustrated. I hope it doesn’t damage their professional or personal relationship though

I think he was frustrated too. Helen is clearly struggling with self belief at the moment and he must spend all week trying to build her up. And then pretty much all the judges commented on how the dance didn't have enough self belief.
Now my cynical head says that's pretty suss and clearly the narrative the producers have been told to push to further her journey, for all 4 judges to use that exact phrase.
BUT I think Gorka felt he had to say something because he actually understands what she's feeling.

I love that she hasn't played on it, or given her ex any more public airtime.
I think she was emotional all night because when Jayde was upset in the Claudatorium she was crying and carefully snook out behind Gorka and Luba.
 
Aww, SASH commented on Hamza and Jowita's dance. It was bloody brilliant - best salsa we've seen in ages.

On rewatch, I think everybody's talking about the lifts because Hamza dances through them - he doesn't stop and prepare first, which you can see Tyler and Jayde having to do. Just utterly fluid, strong and joyful dancing from start to finish.

that whole section of lifts just after the breakdown section were incredible: like you say, just really fluid with no visible preparation. i love the little nod he does before the plank lift at the end too like “yes i’m about to do this” 🤣 it was just an absolute joy to watch.
 
Just caught up with the show and the threads. You’re a chatty lot 😂

- Shirley skipped a week and came as Dot Cotton tribute for BBC centenary. What did she look like.
- I’m a little worried than I’m liking Motsi judge this year- could be because I can’t stand Shirley so much
-Hamza, waw, he was FAB-U-LOUS darlings
- James was way over marked. Him and Any are my toilet break. So boring.
- Gorkagate - he’s been with Helen all week when we’ve all read the headlines about her ex. He no doubt sees what a strong woman she is despite being humiliated and he probably wanted to say how proud he is of her. Let’s face it, it was a huge thing to do live tv to millions of viewers after such a crappy week.
- Fleur was fab. I couldn’t help think when Shirley was trying, through clenched teeth to compliment her, that she wanted her sent home last week
- Just can’t warm to Kim
- Jade and Tyler were way over marked. How soft are they with Jade - and Shirley just wets her knickers at the thought of Tyler. She went all coy before giving her verdict, I had mega second hand embarrassment for her.
-Love Tony. He’s making Strictly for me this year. Love His positive attitude and him improving every week is nothing to do with the fact that I’m a little in love with the man

Biggest thing this week TOO MANY SOB STORIES. Yikes get on with it, it’s a bloody dance show, meant to be fun on a Saturday night
 
I know people on this thread aren’t the biggest fans of Kym, but I actually had a lot of respect for her this week. She was also very unwell but we didn’t hear her bang on about it 24/7. She has a very unwell parent who unfortunately nothing can be done for, and it’s also been baby loss awareness week (something that has a huge impact on her). All of these things she could have mentioned to gain sympathy votes but she didn’t.
