It’s never, ever been a level playing field and it never ever will be, so I have no idea why people continue to trot this out as a supposedly valid criticism.

This is the show that cast 70-year-old retired golfer Tony Jacklin in the same series as 30-year-old Italia Conti-trained Natalie Gumede, who had been dancing since the age of four.

In order to take in a range of ages, backgrounds, careers, etc, so as to appeal to the widest possible audience, it’s never going to be possible to have anything even remotely resembling an even playing field and that’s been true since the very start 🤷‍♀️

It's true she has been a bit overscored, though, but so have lots of other people. 🤷‍♀️

My mistake has been pointed out. No difference to me at all, because I vote on the dancing , not any personal factors.
I think I have to accept that my way of thinking is old fashioned and out of date. It is obvious that my idea of a “competition “ has been dumbed down so far that all meaning has been lost. I just need to sit back and keep my mouth shut, because obviously all that matters is entertainment. I’m in my mid seventies, I don’t understand the modern world . Because I believe the best dancers should have the highest scores in a competition , I have been sworn at, laughed at, and patronised. And there is more to come likely. Think the time has come for me to bow out from watching entertainment, I’ll stick to knitting and Gardener’s World.

It’s a light entertainment reality tv show themed around dancing. It’s not a dancing competition.

Did you miss last week, when Richie and Giovanni were dressed as a warthog and a meerkat and dancing to a comedy Disney song? Which part of that suggests that the BBC are prioritising dancing over entertainment?

You’re acting like it’s the world championship at Blackpool 😭 People are always overscored, tit dancers always get further than they probably should and the best dancer rarely actually wins the show, it’s a fun family entertainment show. If you view it as anything more than that then that’s on you.

Not sure if you watched last night but this is what Jayde said, one of the main reasons she wanted a same sex pairing is because she knew none of the pros would have been able to lift her. In her own words none of them are built like rugby players 😂

he is one of the few celebs I knew this series

Plus she spent her younger dancing days practicing and performing with her sister, in memory of whom she is dancing; as she said last night, ‘Wind Beneath my Wings’ was one of ‘their’ dance songs, which is why she was so tearful afterwards.

Strictly is the same as it’s always been, the very first series set the tone when Lesley Garrett didn’t make the final in favour of a young bloke stomping round and waving a cape over his head.

That right there is Strictly in a nutshell. The rest is window dressing.

And literally none of it matters a jot. It’s just a way to pass the time on a dark & chilly autumn evening, while a variety of celebrities of varying levels of fame and dance ability do something hopefully entertaining because they’re being paid for it. 🤷‍♀️

Was nice to see Tony have a break from being the joke act, but annoyed it was passed onto JoJo and Ellie. I don’t understand why there needs to be a joke act each week.

Kim is a miserable moaner, fed up of hearing how hard training is with work. But I did think she did a good samba.

I thought Hamza was going to be crap when I saw he was doing the samba but he was amazing. He has rhythm.

James and Will were both crap. Fed up of each week Will having to be doing his dance for someone. If he stays next week he will be doing it for the neighbours dog!

Jayde and Ellie S are over marked week after week.

Fluer was very good this week.

Didn’t like the couples choice but never do. I do like Tyler though.

The rest were pretty forgettable.

I think Jayde's dance was basically a Couples Choice.

She was dancing for her sister, to one of their favourite songs.

Wouldn't surprise me if next week we start seeing proper judging and marks that reflect the actual dance.

Honestly, she's the worst dancer there. At least Matt is trying.

And this is a bitchy comment - I've piled on the weight the past few years so feel I can make this remark.

Why hasn't Jayde lost weight with the daily exercise???

Hamza has noticeably lost weight and his stamina is better. Lisa Reilly lost weight and her costumes needed to be taken in. And going back to series 1 (Yes I'm that old) Lesley Garrett told everyone she'd lost a stone and felt fabulous.

I think Karen needs to up the routines and get Jayde moving.
