I imagine it would be too difficult to do as a deaf contestant. She generally followed Gio, either through his body movement or his facial expressions. Charleston is mostly danced independently and side by side so she wouldn’t even be able to watch him to keep in time
Ah, interesting. Thanks!

Random question, but how come rose and Giovanni never did the charlston?

They all miss a couple of dances. In the early series when they stuck to the ‘ten dance’ dances if you were in till the final you did all of the core dances, but since AS, salsa, Charleston, AT and CC were added they end up skipping some dances.

Last year there were relatively few waltzes or foxtrots, which is kind of weird when the show sells itself on its ‘ballroom’ credentials.

ETA. Just checked Wikipedia: last year there were 75 different dances performed, with a grand total of 3 waltzes and 3 foxtrots! 😱

Has it ever came out how much contestants and pros earn for Strictly? Whether they get a base fee and then X amount for going so far or just a fee? etc etc, and then the judges?

Regarding same-sex pairings, I wonder if we'll see any LGBT celebs who prefer an opposite gender partner like Susan Calman did. If they cast an LGBT celeb with the intention of a yearly same-sex pairing and then the celeb asks for an opposite gender pro, I imagine the idea would get rested for the year.

Neil is the Nicola Roberts.

Or what if they ask a straight Celeb to pair with a same sex pro? That could happen.

Ah that’s really interesting, I didn’t know those ones were added later, I’m only watching since 2014. Thanks!
