The Russian dude who did the US so you think you can dance, won strictly with Kara tointon, dated her then fucked off to do dancing with the stars

Well that was…different. 100% the right couple won. I can’t work John out at all. He was saying all the right things but he was giving off Gavin Henson vibes throughout the competition. Maybe it was a heavy burden to carry, there was a lot of expectation on him from the start but I do think he was consistently overmarked.

Didn’t particularly like either of the showdances and as soon as I saw Jason Gilkinson I knew they would be a bit 😬

There were two fundamental things missing from the final (not including AJ, obvs). Where was Russell Crowe? And all day I had been praying for Tom to bust onthe floor and do a full on David Brent after the showdances




Unusually for me, there hasn’t been a single couple that have really annoyed me! Although I think if Tom and Amy had got much further I wouldn’t be saying that. I’ve loved reading and contributing to these threads - I haven’t agreed with a lot of it but that’s no bad thing, plus on more than one occasion I’ve re-thought something due to a different opinion. Thanks guys ❤️

I’m really not keen on the direction the ex-X-Factor producer is taking the show: far too much ITV-style mawkish, schmaltzy, ‘tugging at the heartstrings’ crap, and too many pointless celebrity messages.

It’s getting quite sickening. I loathe that kind of cheap, manipulative fakery and I really hope they dial it down next year.

I think we need a new producer next year, that'll be key to Strictly feeling a bit more 'Strictly' next year. It wasn't as noticeable in 2020 since that was a special series but 2019 & 2021 have both suffered from X-Factor itis.

Oti has done really well outside Strictly while still doing it. She did the Masked Dancer on ITV & still did Strictly, so she might stay.. she clearly is able to work for both channels 🤷🏼‍♀️

Completely agree, whether they are done with the show or not, it is a job at the end of the day and also influences the rest of their income (tours etc).
 
A great series. Was lovely to see everyone (okay, most of them) again in the wonderfully mad group dance. AJ was my personal favourite so obviously the finale was a bit disappointing for me but R&J totally deserved to be there.

I'm surprised some people thought the BBC was pushing for John to win in the final. A bit of panic when he was doing a bit better?! Rose is a BBC employee, John isn't. And she's beautiful, charismatic, and her win is ground-breaking. All great for the Strictly juggernaut. No way would they conspire against her winning.

I thought John did better on the night but Rose was better overall. Happy for her! Agree it's a shame we get no time with the runner ups considering every other contestant has their moment to say goodbye
