I'm still scratching my head when I'm watching i can't decide whether I love it or hate it. I see glimpses of the old SATC and god the nostalgia hits hard , then a few mins later I'm cringing behind a cushion or fast forwarding whole sections. I do love Seema though and have to agree that Miranda seems to have lost the plot also.

Also am I the only one that is completely distracted by Charlotte's heaving bosom?! Where did those bad boys spring from !
Charlotte is squeezed into clothes too small, and I think she’s wearing those body shapers that make your body more hour glass.

She needs a size up, her figure is perfect but she looks strangled by those clothes.

Mary knew what was up. Acyrlic still not as fake as the new Miranda!! 😂

Not caught up on this thread yet but just wanted to share my opinion on the latest episode

Hate any scene with Miranda and Che. Miranda has turned into a neurotic, overly selfish version of herself. Am I supposed to be rooting for this relationship????

Loved Anthony at Charlotte‘s dinner, got the first real laugh out of me so far this series. ‘The holocaust was a hoax’ ‘GET OUT’ 😂

The scene with Steve talking about his wedding ring… Jesus christ. Why are they doing this to the characters? Why aren't they allowed to just stay happy??

I thought Carrie losing Big’s wedding ring felt very true and almost like the old show. Also made a change that they allowed her to actually say his name (possibly because the episode would’ve been only 10 mins long without that storyline?)

Seema is classy and very watchable. Sure, she’s no Samantha but she’s way good for this tit show

Charlottes figure is fantastic, they really are stuffing her into the dresses. It’s almost like AJLT is completely fatphobic, or even normal size phobic and don’t want to admit that Charlotte, after fifteen years has put on a stone and is ‘gasp’ not bothered. So are trying to hide it. It’s the only taboo they have not touched on. Though they did pretend to make Sam ‘fat’ in the last film.

Never realised how much of a babe Debbie was! She still is a babe now. Now I wish Steve stayed with Deb and have more kids with Debby rather than sticking around for Mid Life Crisis Miserable Moany Miranda.

Also, another thing about Miranda she was never the type to sit around and stay content in a miserable marriage, she would’ve left years ago. But she just wanted something like a big bold bratty child, like when she wanted Skipper after seeing him with his new GF and when she seen Steve with someone else she wanted him back. She just always wants when she can’t have

I didn’t either! Totally need to bring her back!!! 😂

Thoughts on episode 9 in no particular order, staying true to the episode itself:

Awful acting from everyone especially Lily. The overacting was painful to watch.

What’s up with Charlotte? Again, awful acting but it’s as if she’s on something. The old Charlotte would have never conducted herself that way. Is it supposed to be funny? Just comes across as manic. Why is Charlotte on the writers receiving end of another joke about bodily functions? It wasn’t funny, was so unnecessary and was extremely predictable

Did the audience really need the tampon lesson? I mean, the entire episode was a tampon lesson. As said previously - there are many more alternatives these days! I really doubt there are young teenagers watching this show so who was the tampon lesson for? I’m so confused as to the relevance.

Harry, just a background character again. I think it was the first movie that he didn’t get so much as a line of dialogue in but this is almost as bad.

Holocaust joke? In extremely poor taste and horrendous timing. Focusing on literally everything else being “woke” yet this? So wrong, I can’t even.

Didn’t even notice that it was Brady’s girlfriend handing out the paint rollers. Too many side characters and I couldn’t care less about any of them.

Surely Seema had something better to do? Also, who is this great new friend she’s made that she speaks of? Can’t be Carrie as she’s the worst friend ever.

The Italian (I think) guy who owns the club. Do club owners regularly double up as door supervisors? Surely Carrie recognised her friend Tony from Prada? Another pointless storyline to say the least.

LTW - I want to love the character, I just don’t care enough but what on earth was she wearing? Safari Barbie makeup artist costume? The hair brush in the sleeve perturbed me. I’m just so confused!

I disagree about the Carrie and Steve scenes, I found them awkward. Carrie may be Miranda’s friend but this man has been in her life for almost 20 years. So she only has a proper conversation with him about his marriage when he does something for her?

I’m totally team Steve but I think the writers are crapping all over his character. His whole speech about his wedding ring but he cheated in the first movie? It’s all just so sloppy like no thought has been put into it.

The interaction between Brady and his godmother Carrie was so awkward. Awful acting.

So whatever kind of relationship Che and Miranda are in, it’s all on Che’s terms? No! I’m not being dramatic but I think it’s an extremely unhealthy portrayal. The old Miranda would never have accepted this. Also, what was with the screeching “this has to work”? So because you set fire to your marriage and ran away, whatever this is with Che must work out? They have completely ruined the character Miranda and broken it beyond repair.

Carrie and the wedding rings. Why is she like this with everything? It’s exhausting.

The neighbour jewellery designer asking Carrie to wear her jewellery as she loves her podcast. For a start, she’s only a guest and how does an A list actress wearing your jewellery compare to a podcast guest sharing it on Instagram? Such lazy writing and unnecessary interaction from another side character I don’t care about.

Rant over, just had to get that off my chest.

This thread is the best thing about the series 🥰
best right up so far!

Every week I think well it can’t get any worse and some how it does.

The way Miranda behaved around her professor in the first episode, she managed to string sentences together when she was dating Robert. It’s like they’ve all forgotten Sex and the city and it’s storylines.

And what about her Black neighbour who helps her out when Brady won’t stop crying? And at least one of her work colleagues is also Black, at the baby shower. Miranda doesn’t bat an eyelid (and nor should she, she lives in NYC and is an intelligent normal woman!) Not to mention dr Robert!

The apparently missing scenes are so weird. Like others have said, there must have been a scene where Miranda, Steve and Brady all discuss what’s happened and their future.
Did they have to cut it out because it was originally filmed with the ghost of Big sitting in a corner, chuckling away to himself saying “abso-bleeping-lately!”?

READ THE ROOM, CYNTHIA

I am sure Cynthia and that Che character do realize how unpopular their characters are and it would be the first thing out of her mouths if they were injected with truth serum. They just employ olympic-level mental gymnastics (mostly in the form of blaming everyone but themselves) in order to avoid confronting it. It's similar to the dog backed into the corner who knows he's in trouble but bares teeth in attempt to face the threat.

So instead, we are forcefed with garbage like AJLT.

Remember, Patricia Field also knows what a garbage human Cynthia Nixon is.

It’s far from perfect. No Sam, Miranda’s character change. Sometimes wooden scripts! But, I am still enjoying it, and enjoying something focused on women in their mid 50s, that is about them, and not just entirely about their kids. So I am hoping for another series. Doubtful though.
I doubt the actresses will want to do another with the nastiness and constant criticism of how they look, it must be horrible.

She’s just wrong. There was never anything to fix. It was a great show that reflected a certain time, lifestyle, attitude and group of women, and brought great happiness to many. I’ve even - gasp! - come across POC who adored the show and apparently managed to make the human connection between their own experiences and that of the SATC characters despite a difference in skin colour.

If the demographic is changing, which I assume it is (by which I mean more and more POC are making it into that rarified, very successful, highly affluent world which these women inhabit) AJLT could have reflected that quite naturally, without making a big song and dance about it. But by turning it into a political crusade they’ve fucked it up. The motivation was wrong. Lesson in there for everyone about the dangers of going in on this stuff heavy-handed. It doesn’t work, and people don’t like it.

Very late reply to this but 100%. Including POC feels like the motivation for all the new characters & subplots. That’s tokenism to me & as you said heavy handed.
It’s all so heavy handed slamming in every issue, and includes a uni professor discussing her personal life with a student?!!
Why didn’t they attempt to make it seem organic. The characters can’t seem to come across a POC without it being a talking point.

Re scenes being cut:
When Carrie went on her first date with the teacher (Peter?) we saw them sitting in the restaurant and didn’t he say he was widowed too?
The next time we see them they are vomiting outside.
Do you think perhaps during dinner they did a silly game that if either mentioned their dead partner they’d have a drink? Carrie reminisced with flashbacks shown of Big, hence it was cut.
It could explain why they were so drunk at the end of their date but no explanation given.

Yes, I think there was scenes with Big that happened during that date. No idea in what context but it would make sense and would explain why that was so bizzare and disjointed.
