Sorry just going back to Miranda and Steve’s marriage. The fact they sat on the sofa and had their dessert night, that shows contentment and that they enjoyed spending time together. They weren’t in separate rooms avoiding each other. Some people would kill for that kind of cosiness with someone. And they weren’t at each other’s throats. To jack in a perfectly good marriage when your kid is about to fly the nest, it’s the kind of thing of a man did he would be the scoundrel for taking a woman’s best years then leaving her. But Miranda is celebrated! Wtf
Only celebrated because it is a gay relationship - if she had left Shteve for a man nobody would be on side in these circumstances.

It would be easier to support her if we knew she'd struggled with her sexuality in the past, but this has literally come from nothing and all seems to be about the god awful Che bleeping Diaz. And on the latter, do they have short term memory loss from all the cool weed that they smoke? They (Che) are always like 'spacing'. Might want to cut back head

Yes exactly
They’ve cut him from everything so now what’s left doesn’t make any sense. I’m sure it would have given us more Carrie grieving and processing his death. And I guess would have been sad for the viewers ( after all our years invested in this couple and seeing a sad ending)

But with cutting him, it’s just not got that main story they first set out to make. And instead it’s the Cythanra tit show
Of all the reasons to not watch this tit show, Chris Noth being in some scenes is nowhere near top of the list

He’s definitely been cut, I’m sure of it. There's a scene in the Diwali episode where Carrie is just laying in a chair in the apartment dressed up and she says ‘this isn’t healthy’ but she says it as though she’s talking to someone and the scene is too short to make sense any other way. I’m sure she’d been talking to or remembering him in a previous edit.

Thoughts on episode 9 in no particular order, staying true to the episode itself:

Awful acting from everyone especially Lily. The overacting was painful to watch.

What’s up with Charlotte? Again, awful acting but it’s as if she’s on something. The old Charlotte would have never conducted herself that way. Is it supposed to be funny? Just comes across as manic. Why is Charlotte on the writers receiving end of another joke about bodily functions? It wasn’t funny, was so unnecessary and was extremely predictable

Did the audience really need the tampon lesson? I mean, the entire episode was a tampon lesson. As said previously - there are many more alternatives these days! I really doubt there are young teenagers watching this show so who was the tampon lesson for? I’m so confused as to the relevance.

Harry, just a background character again. I think it was the first movie that he didn’t get so much as a line of dialogue in but this is almost as bad.

Holocaust joke? In extremely poor taste and horrendous timing. Focusing on literally everything else being “woke” yet this? So wrong, I can’t even.

Didn’t even notice that it was Brady’s girlfriend handing out the paint rollers. Too many side characters and I couldn’t care less about any of them.

Surely Seema had something better to do? Also, who is this great new friend she’s made that she speaks of? Can’t be Carrie as she’s the worst friend ever.

The Italian (I think) guy who owns the club. Do club owners regularly double up as door supervisors? Surely Carrie recognised her friend Tony from Prada? Another pointless storyline to say the least.

LTW - I want to love the character, I just don’t care enough but what on earth was she wearing? Safari Barbie makeup artist costume? The hair brush in the sleeve perturbed me. I’m just so confused!

I disagree about the Carrie and Steve scenes, I found them awkward. Carrie may be Miranda’s friend but this man has been in her life for almost 20 years. So she only has a proper conversation with him about his marriage when he does something for her?

I’m totally team Steve but I think the writers are crapping all over his character. His whole speech about his wedding ring but he cheated in the first movie? It’s all just so sloppy like no thought has been put into it.

The interaction between Brady and his godmother Carrie was so awkward. Awful acting.

So whatever kind of relationship Che and Miranda are in, it’s all on Che’s terms? No! I’m not being dramatic but I think it’s an extremely unhealthy portrayal. The old Miranda would never have accepted this. Also, what was with the screeching “this has to work”? So because you set fire to your marriage and ran away, whatever this is with Che must work out? They have completely ruined the character Miranda and broken it beyond repair.

Carrie and the wedding rings. Why is she like this with everything? It’s exhausting.

The neighbour jewellery designer asking Carrie to wear her jewellery as she loves her podcast. For a start, she’s only a guest and how does an A list actress wearing your jewellery compare to a podcast guest sharing it on Instagram? Such lazy writing and unnecessary interaction from another side character I don’t care about.

Rant over, just had to get that off my chest.

This thread is the best thing about the series 🥰

I think it speaks volumes about the power of the LGBT community in the US that more care and attention is given to using the right bloody pronouns than offending people with a Holocaust joke. They are selective though. They wouldn’t make a joke about any other religion other than Judaism and Christianity. For some reason they are fair game.

I keep thinking about the tampon thing and I cannot fathom what that was all about. There’s actually something kinda sick about it. It’s like the writers have run out of ideas and just decided to cover all bodily functions for laughs. Periods, vomit, piss, I mean come on! Wtf writers! You can do better than this.

My ex owned a club and he used to do the door on occasion….although that was mainly because he knew someone was coming in so wanted to let them through…that’s the only bit of the episode that made sense to me though…the rest was just a jumbled mish mash, like they were trying to squeeze what should have been a few episodes into one, and either tie up loose ends or start setting the scene for season 2 (god help us, but I’ll still probably watch 😂)

I keep thinking about the tampon thing and I cannot fathom what that was all about.
From a sample of my friends, so I could be wrong here, the majority of the audience are women and gay men. The former already know all about tampons and the latter don’t care, so I’m not sure who this was aimed at. It wasn’t even worth it for the slapstick as it wasn’t funny.

I assume the tampon lesson was for the millions of mums who can totally relate to how hilarious and craaazy it is when your teenage daughter can’t insert a tampon! That is some wacky comedy hijinks right there! And a totally authentic and not at all contrived situation!:rolleyes:

Just rewatched this episode and you're right.. the scene makes no sense.

Lisa Todd Wexley's Makeup jacket 😎

What was that jacket? My kids would be on the floor laughing if I stepped out in that!

What the hell happened to the Cleveland storyline!!!!??? Seriously - it’s like they missed an episode. So many subsidiary characters getting too much airtime and the tampon storyline was pretty much half the show.
Exactly this, I had to keep checking that I hadn’t missed an episode! They didn’t even mention Cleveland when they were out for lunch! Wouldn’t all your friends be digging for information?!

Tampax must’ve been a long standing partnership

Dammit, why do I only have boys?? Where are the hijinks in that? Ooh, maybe one of them will ask their Dad how to put on a condom, that's totally realistic right? And funny?

The episode lengths have been a bit all over the place, which makes me think things like Cleveland or Big flashbacks have been cut out.

I know the plan was to bring the ashes to Paris but she has to do something with them. If the show leaves them stuck beside some shoe boxes it's doing a disservice to the storyline.
