Sali Hughes #67 The Girl With The Chanel 3392 C714 Dark Tortoise Pantos Womens Frames!

Can I pick the tattle hive mind please

It’s my birthday today (yes Christmas birthdays are as tit as you would think) and I am that age where people just give me money sigh. I would like to buy a hairstyling tool (and take the risk no one has bought me one for Christmas - told you it’s rubbish being a dec baby)

I found myself wondering if our Sal has ever recommended one (quickly gave myself a slap even tho it’s my birthday!)

Anyone here use one? I have the obligatory GHD irons and a decent hairdryer, I won’t buy Dyson out of principle (which is gutting but he is a nasty piece of work). I have shoulder length fine straightish hair that is bleached. Sound familiar? Just lacking the extensions and visits to Hersheons 😉
Happy birthday 🎂 🥳

This is really good imo, and a bargain. I'm rubbish with hair but can handle this. There's a couple of bad reviews, including an hilarious one where someone says it just blew their hair up and made them look like Ken Dodd, but I find it foolproof.

Has anyone got any recommendations for teen skincare? I have a just-13 step-daughter who has a smattering of pimples on her forehead. She's been given Clean & Clear and a Simple moisturiser (and a fringe...). I don't think she is using the C&C. I'd like to get her a set of something that is both a nice experience and also has a chance of working. Thank you v much.

I was in Asda the day after you posted this and picked up the Pantene Bond repair shampoo and conditioner (£3 each) and also a L'Oréal bond repair serum (about £5 I think?) as my hair was like yours.
I know I've only washed my hair a couple of times since but it feels so different already. I put the serum on the ends of my hair and on weaker bits every night too. I don't think it's just my imagination as my OH said today how nice my hair was looking. So thank you for the recommendation.
Another good tip was in The Guardian - for those irritating broken flyaways along your parting simply run some dental floss over them. I tried it and it really works! I presume it's the wax but it flattens them down really quite glossily.
I think the Pantene shampoo especially is really good. I'm using it all the time now and no downside to it so far. My hair feels better than it did on the Redken - although caveat is that when I was using the Redken, it was at the start of my rescue attempts so maybe nothing could have helped me and I've started on the Pantene when things were turning round a bit anyway... What I have noticed with the Pantene is that I can go longer between washes, up to 5 days if I want to. Don't know if that's a related effect but it's a welcome one. I have flyaways but I don't really fret about them - my hair was in such a state for 2 years that they were the least of my worries, but am going to give the floss a go so thanks! I'm definitely sold on the Beauty Works 10-in-1 leave-in. I got it ages ago and hadn't used it because it was reasonably cheap so I assumed it wouldn't be as good as Pureology but it works better for me.
My flyaways were getting ridiculous and hard to tame recently. Then I read somewhere that it might be a sign of product residue in my hair. I bought a clarifying shampoo and my hair looks much better after one use.
Thanks for the tip with the dental floss, this will be a lifesaver on days when the flyaways cannot be tamed.
That sounds like good advice, thank you. I might try a clarifying shampoo occasionally because I do use leave-ins - do you have a recommended brand? I think I've used a Herbal Essences one but didn't like it much.

Have a look at Spots & Stripes. It's a range just for teens and preteens. I've bought some of their gift boxes for my granddaughters. The packaging is nice and I think they have good reviews.

Neutrogena Visibly Clear and Clean & Defend lines are effective but not very glam, unfortunately 😑. Spots and Stripes is a good shout from @Valentina. Maybe Good Light? My niece (15, so a little bit older than your stepdaughter but with similar pimple issues) likes their cleanser, exfoliating lotion and lip cream. Not the cream, though, that's too heavy.

My fringe (when I’ve had one) has always been a bit of the cause of a spotty forehead, because I have oily skin. Great for hiding it though!

Clean and Clear and the like tend to be really drying of skin, they just strip everything away so the skin tends to overcompensate by producing more oil and then spots can form. I can’t believe the stuff I used to whack on my face as a teen, I’m surprised I have a face left!

I have a teen daughter with a similar skin type and she gets on really well with the La Roche Posay Toleraine Sensitive range- cleanser/ moisturiser and SPF.

I bought the cleansing cream from Redken because it was the only one in the store I was in. I have also received the Living Proof one this week that I ordered to use up a gift card, that I have not tried yet.

Happy birthday!
I have the mark hill hot tool that you can buy extra attachments for (diff sized curling wand sizes) got it 2nd hand then the attachments are normally 3 for 2, it feels easier to try ‘mermaid’ cos I’m not buying a whole new electrical appliance (the mermaid one is espec good at looking ‘done’ fast ish on my frizzy wavy hair

I've recently bought the revlon one step volume thing and I love it. I have hair the same as yours but not bleached and have had loads of compliments since I've been using it. I'm usually quite self conscious about my hair looking lank and flat so am really chuffed.
