Sali Hughes #67 The Girl With The Chanel 3392 C714 Dark Tortoise Pantos Womens Frames!

I'm living proof (no pun intended) that heat styling is viciously bad for your hair. Mine was a mess. Hadn't had it cut for nearly a year but people were asking if it was shorter. Initially I spent a lot of money on products and largely followed Blowout Professor guy's advice. Nine months later and my hair looks pretty decent and has about 3-4 inches extra length. I'm not on the pricey products anymore either - I found Pantene Bond repair works fine for me (I buy it in B&M) and Beauty Works Leave-In is better for me than the Pureology one. But I believe the big changes have occurred simply because I stopped any and all heat, even a hairdryer.
I was in Asda the day after you posted this and picked up the Pantene Bond repair shampoo and conditioner (£3 each) and also a L'Oréal bond repair serum (about £5 I think?) as my hair was like yours.
I know I've only washed my hair a couple of times since but it feels so different already. I put the serum on the ends of my hair and on weaker bits every night too. I don't think it's just my imagination as my OH said today how nice my hair was looking. So thank you for the recommendation.
Another good tip was in The Guardian - for those irritating broken flyaways along your parting simply run some dental floss over them. I tried it and it really works! I presume it's the wax but it flattens them down really quite glossily.

Exactly. It’s so depressing how easily that myth sticks. I know we’ve compared her and jack monroe here before but it’s so similar. And so lazy of the ‘real’ journalists to accept it at face value!
I truly despise the lazy journalists who uncritically accept her version of herself (and her version of us). With special mention to the producers of her BBC Radio 4 'documentary' on trolling. I was shocked by the apparent failure to challenge or fact check.

I watched CH's YouTube/podcast interview with Nadine. She comes across so as much more honest - e.g. saying that Jones Road Miracle Balm is a terrible product - but doesn't seem to make being honest her speciality.

My flyaways were getting ridiculous and hard to tame recently. Then I read somewhere that it might be a sign of product residue in my hair. I bought a clarifying shampoo and my hair looks much better after one use.
Thanks for the tip with the dental floss, this will be a lifesaver on days when the flyaways cannot be tamed.

I honestly can't understand how Sali was ever a makeup artist. I mean in that still from this morning her foundation is leaning a bacon-y kind of pink and her eyeshadow is giving "knackered, with an eye infection" rather than knowledgeable beauty expert and former pro MUA. Surely she would know that powder is essential if you're going to be on camera if she ever earned any kind of living from putting makeup on other people. Just bizarre.

She’s obsessed with glowy make up and after a certain age, me and SH included, glowy looks more like a hot flush and also incredibly ageing.

SH is determined to age herself on every possible way- over-processed fried hair with a colour that completely washes her out, ‘hot-mess/ eye infection’ make up looks and tweakments done to her face that have eradicated all previous youthful softness and charm.

That's it. All the softness and charm of her features have been erased in favour of her misguided attempts at staying youthful and cool. Its like an elaborate and highly contrived form of self hatred and self harm. It's actually really sad that she was so unhappy and insecure with her 'imperfect' pretty face and brunette hair. I much preferred old Sali. Presumably being in the beauty industry makes you over obsessed and hyper focused on your appearance. What a burden.

But was she? She blagged a gig doing makeup on a Fun Boy Three music video or something, which she didn’t have any “kit” for and had to ask people to lend her stuff. And she used to gift people the joy of her doing your wedding make up.

It does get very

For about 10 years I've been expecting that one day she'd look back and wonder why on earth she'd thought 'glowy' was a good look - the way people look back with horror at their overplucked eyebrows and frizzy perms.

On the YouTube Q&A with CH, she's still advising older women to use makeup products that give a 'glow' when it just seems to highlight every wrinkle and unevenness.

Jesus, the eyebrows and snarled up with filler lips , yikes!

THOUSANDS of pounds spent on that hair. Look at the absolute state of it! Still blows my mind that she willingly destroyed her hair to look like a knock off Barbie doll.
As someone who'd wrecked their own fine hair through bleaching, I could have told her that it was never going to end well. (I had so much breakage - despite it being bleached by a highly regarded London colourist - that I ended up getting a pixie cut.)

This is what I think she'd envisaged. Vogue journalist Sarah Harris, who's hair is apparently naturally grey.

Don't get this shiny obsession. It doesn't look glowy. Just sweaty and greasy.
There's no difference to my eye between oily and glowing. I love a matte look and hate how far it's fallen from favour.

She's such a pass-agg hole saying we don't know if Coleen has had work done. I love Coleen, she's Scouse Womanhoods patron saint but obviously she's been smashing the botox for many years and got a kite full of filler. Stop treating everyone like an alien who just fell to earth yesterday Sali.

Coleen would never turn up at the Chanel store wearing head to toe Chanel.

It's also typical of Sali to no doubt see speculation about tweakments as bullying and trolling (because that how she felt when we did it about her) rather than quite normal in this day and age.
She's all open and honest about the work she has done now - but despite what she says she had been highly evasive and secretive about it.

With the Coleen Rooney thing I can’t help but feel that Sali was sticking up for her as some kind of weird superiority thing. As if Coleen needs Sali to stick up for her, she’s an extremely strong woman who has had to put up with a lot more tit in life than Sali’s idea of ‘trolling hell’ of speculation on Botox and fillers. For someone who has been stalked by the paparazzi from a young age and been sold out by supposed friends for money, speculation on Botox or fillers is water off a ducks back. Coleen wouldn’t give two shits

Yes quite. It is superiority.
Sali also does this thing where she describes certain women as 'whip smart' - Stacey Solomon, Kerry Katona, Pamela Anderson - as though only she can see it and everybody else is horribly judgy. It smacks of being patronising.

Can I pick the tattle hive mind please

It’s my birthday today (yes Christmas birthdays are as tit as you would think) and I am that age where people just give me money sigh. I would like to buy a hairstyling tool (and take the risk no one has bought me one for Christmas - told you it’s rubbish being a dec baby)

I found myself wondering if our Sal has ever recommended one (quickly gave myself a slap even tho it’s my birthday!)

Anyone here use one? I have the obligatory GHD irons and a decent hairdryer, I won’t buy Dyson out of principle (which is gutting but he is a nasty piece of work). I have shoulder length fine straightish hair that is bleached. Sound familiar? Just lacking the extensions and visits to Hersheons 😉
