Which is closest to how you look in general? Longer focal length? My front-facing camera bears so little resemblance to how I look in the mirror, it's uncanny
55mm is roughly what our eyes see. For portraits 50-85mm look great. Phones are wider angle, often 20ish mm. Phones are so thin that manufacturers physically cannot build any longer focal lengths. They cheat with software.

That Erborian cream is ultra popular on mumsnet and always recommended there. It is incredibly blurring - but also very orange, which they pretend is a 'healthy glow', ie suntanned. It's good coverage, but yes, Sali's before and after is pretty typical as it's not lightweight coverage by any means.

That is so interesting!

I think I'm being a bit slow here. Are you saying that her looking slimmer/longer in the photos/videos she takes of herself - compared with photos/videos taken by others - is simply due to the limitations of her phone camera rather than to her having adjusted the camera settings to give a slimming/elongating effect?

I haven't noticed the same sort of discrepancy (photos taken by self having an elongating effect) in other people I follow but it may be that I haven't looked that critically at others.

Indeed she shall. As long as it’s in shades of cobalt blue (even though she rarely has cause to wear it because she dresses in neutrals) and THE BEST COLOUR IN THE WORLD quietly rebellious navy (for the ultra-feminine and tomboys alike)
View attachment 3328032 qAnd she will brook no ripostes!

This pile of absolute guff gets worse every time you read it. Not least because it’s like something that fell out of a finishing school etiquette manual circa 1947.

Navy works well on babies. Wtf.

The writing here is so bad I can’t even be bothered to be specific about why. It’s just awful. “A magic but unique colour that, consequently, is not to everyone’s taste”

Do I have a loose grip of English or does this make little sense? It’s not to everyone’s taste because it’s magic?

It’s magic. But unique.

What are you talking about?! Arrrrrgh

It is difficult to say, she may choose specific settings on her phone to increase effects because selfie cameras have changed the way we see our faces. There's not an easy answer to this. We all have our "good angles" and I for instance hate the front camera on my phone because I'm more used to seeing self portraits shot on 50 or 85mm.

The focal length don't just widen the face or make it narrower, they can also make the nose look bigger or smaller.

Here's an article that talks about selfie cameras and how they have changed our perception

Yes, it’s a great foundation regarding blur factor, coverage etc. But the darker one is indeed super orange, the lighter one is awfully pink and weird.

She isn’t necessarily using filters, but there are some non-filter effects you can use to adjust the picture (and still truthfully yet disingenuously claim #nofilter) like Jack Monroe’s use of “portrait mode” however she left the stamp of “facetune“ on a picture of the sky she posted so she’s not a reliable source.

That Ebrorion stuff (can't spell it) is absolute voodoo. It's fantastic. The green doesn't pull orange on me at all, she just used far too much. She's late to the party as ever, I've been using it for ages. There's a boots 20% off premium beauty offer atm where you can get some bargain sets from the brand too if you want to try it without using her code.

The Hero Rescue Balm + Red Correct is what I use. It's brilliant and a fraction of the price. Can't even tell you are wearing it
