Ruby Granger #47 Self Learning at the University of Roobs, Manor campus

If she wants her YouTube to stay afloat, she has to keep doing study with me/university videos. Those are the only things that get her decent views. She’ll eventually feel pressured to do a PhD or at least another Masters to keep her channel viable.

Watch how much her views have plummeted recently, and it’ll only get worse over the next year.

I'm sure she can't reapply for a minimum of 3 years unless it's an identical study
Where did you get this information from? From what I can tell she can't apply to the same course twice in the same admissions cycle without a substantially different application, and admissions cycles aren't 3 years long.

I don’t think there’s any version of the universe in which she’s in danger of running out of money. Even if she did pay for her degree herself, what expenses does she have, living with mummy and daddy? They won’t be charging her rent. Nyord V. P. Anne with and E has more than paid for her replacement laptop, and just about all of the videos she puts out these days are sponsored, not to mention all the undeclared ads. The ”9 to 5” she has is three days a week straightening out the shelves in the library of her old school, she’s doing it just to have something to do and pad out her CV, not for the money. Daddy Bones has millions squirreled away in offshore accounts and will have set her up financially from the day she was born, she’s never going to actually face the concept of supporting herself in anything but a very superficial way.
Sure, daddy got money. But imagine if daddy is tired to pay and start to cut off money. But that would sound too realistic for the Bones.

Her comments about her job were really strange. I don't know why she is claiming she is not in academia for a change, as though she has spent years working in a university or something. I found this picture of the library at her old school. I'm laughing so hard. It looks like a kindergarten. Why does she act like part time work at a place like this is tiring and challenging, and she is learning so much. Like what? How to put a book back on a shelf? Dust? Vacuum? I mean, we do know how filthy her room and house is. Maybe she is learning basic adulting skills? View attachment 3216227 q
Don't forget she's trying to romanticize her life. A bit like when kids imagine adventures while just playing in their garden, twirling. It's very Ruby-esque to play a fake life and a fake persona.

I can’t think of anything that would be more of a safeguarding issue than Ruby trying to live out her boarding school dreams as a staff member. Let‘s not put that that idea in her head.

TBH I think this would be a massive safeguarding issue. Not because Ruby is a predator or anything but she clearly has issues with being an adult and I think she would struggle with boundaries in not being a student.

Friend works in admissions 🤷‍♀️ unless I've misunderstood what she means by cycles.

Hearing her say "they were reciting some poem by Robert Burns" when talking about her attending a Burns' Dinner at Oxford has just made me irrationally angry. How can you spend years studying English Literature without coming across even a few poems by Robert Burns?

The Address to a Haggis is the highlight of a Burns supper. Is that the poem she meant? For someone who fancies herself an intellectual, she sure is unsophisticated.

Exactly. You don't need to be a Burns-nerd or an expert in Scottish literature, but if you're going to a Burns' Supper and you happen to be a student of literature, just a tiny bit of reading up on what you've let yourself in for might have been good. It's literally on Wikipedia! (But maybe I'm slightly biased because I love Burns and I'm writing a term paper on him and his influence on cultural politics, asking, among other things, how he would have voted in the 2014 independence referendum lol)

I believe the admissions cycle is one year long, as the 25-26 "cycle" has just opened, and the 24-25 cycle opened around this time last year. So Ruby wouldn't have been able to reapply for the 24-25 entry once she withdrew, but can apply for 25-26 entry as it's a different cycle. I think it just means the same application (or substantially similar applications) cannot be submitted multiple times for the same committees.

Best Address to a Haggis I ever saw was given to a packet of haggis flavoured crisps at a folk club.

Tbf to Ruby here I had no idea about burns night until emails for the Burns formal came round and the bursar chased them up with rather panicked emails asking whether anyone knew someone who could play the bagpipes. I did happen to, but given the demand for bagpipes players that time of year I'm sure he was busy piping in the haggis elsewhere/causing a ruckus in the half moon.

Fair point, but unlike Ruby, you weren't studying English Lit, right? Even given her later interest in Victorian children's literature and her MA in Early Modern literature, she must have come across Burns and his most famous works at some point in her literature undergrad degree. 🤷‍♀️

Exactly that. She was studying for an English lichacha Masters at Oxford after having already completed an English lit undergrad degree. In addition, she’s made a career out of being a studytuber/booktuber and has gone on several sponsored trips to Scotland by Visit Scotland. You’d think she’d have some awareness of Scotland’s proud cultural and literary feast that is a Burns’ Supper.

I mean…

She is not running out of money 🤣 how do people still have no idea the amount of money influencers make. My ‘vacations’ cost more than hers as well. All she does is stay in grotty places, buy second hand books, and eat kids food. She’s not a spender and has no normal adult outgoings (rent, car/fuel costs etc.).

I understand how much youtubers make. I think you guys are underestimating how much she spends. Yes she gets gifted a lot of things but while she claims she is sustainable and that she usually only buys second hand we all know Ruby is a maximalist. Additionally, yes she is probably making passive income from the house she rents out, but how much she makes out of that house depends on whether or not she bought it outright, how she pays taxes on that house, and how well she can maintain the house. We've all seen the state of Ruby's room and her parents' home. I have my doubts on whether or not she is actually maintaining the cottage (the renters' responsibility is just to keep the place clean and report any concerns) which could mean she has hired a property manager or worse she is in charge of that by herself meaning that the property value may have been declining this entire time. I'm not saying she is poor. I'm saying she has probably seen her nest egg shrink more than she is comfortable with given the lifestyle she lives which only continues to be carefree as long as she has enough money to make it carefree. Yeah she doesn't have a car, so when her parents can't drive her to places that are too far to walk she's probably paying quite a bit to get around. She also has to pay her management a percentage of what she makes from brand deals. I'm assuming she also paying Marfa for the editing which is probably cheap, but all these things add up especially when you don't have a guaranteed paycheck. She's probably investing a portion of her money as well which means she can't spend that money.

"Mummy why is Miss Bones asking me to be her bosom friend?"
