I think the other two couples didn’t rush as much which was surprising as it’s the final.
Monique and Ladi went to the park which although probably wasn’t too long may have been a detour and also surprised the lorry guy took them/stopped.
Monique/Zainab did the job of cutting the hedges or bushes. Did they not have the most money as well?
Tricia and Cathie just did what seemed like a quick cleaning job for some food, which I think I’ve already said I don’t think they actually needed to do just eat something cheap for that leg to be quick.

I think T + C were overly worried about the price of the final ferry though I think they’d have been ok either way… but I suppose they didn’t know that and being felled at that hurdle would have been gutting so I guess it’s understandable. Perhaps the others too and preparing to maybe have to taxi at the end.

Thats true as the ferry in the first leg was so expensive whereas this one was fine

T & C also did two jobs on the penultimate leg (although I think one of them was when the owner was late so they only did a couple of hours in the end). They specifically said on that leg they wanted to build up their funds because getting to the finish was the priority for the final leg.

I’ve often wondered if they are told they must take at least one job per leg. Because I was surprised any of them did tbh !

I want to know how the payroll works when they do these jobs. Like, do they get a working visa in order to legally earn money?! I can’t imagine it’s cash in hand, and they’re not exactly going to have a Social Insurance Number. Part of me wonders if the producers give them the money and then the show pays the employers?

Jen from season 2 said that if a bus or train didn't have space for the production team then they had to wait for the next one that did as they weren't allowed to travel on their own. They didn't find it unfair as all couples had the same rules so it evened out. I wonder how much of this season was scripted to take this into account. Zainib and Mobeen waited around to see if any bus passengers didn't turn up and the worker said there were two free spaces left. So where did the camera crew sit 🤔

I vaguely remember a blurry camera while Zainab and Mobeen were on that bus which means they may have set up their own camera.

I work in accounts and want to know the answer too 😂 less difficult in just one country if they did have a working visa (doubt they did) but what about last season so many countries! Was the yacht cleaning job cash in hand 🤔

I work in payroll, unsurprisingly. 😂 Even with a working visa, it’d be a tax nightmare — all those separate employers. Maybe there’s a RATW umbrella company that employs everyone.

My guess would be that they get given the money from the producers as per the booklet and not paid directly, when they arrange work themselves it’s for benefits in kind like food and board.

Found Cathie’s business on companies house, she’s far from the invisible woman she presents, runs two pharmacies with her husband with assets circa £2M, employs 17 people and works with large companies trialling various schemes for them, she seems very much the face of the company as husband works 2 days a week.

We’re back to the fact this is reality tv, someone mentioned how the brother and sister team in season 2 were far from the estranged siblings they made themselves out to be.

In previous series you definitely see the employers hand them the cash directly but I suppose the producers could still have arranged it all behind the scenes

I doubt I’d give a lift to any random stranger bumbling around a car park particularly if they want one 4 hours away. I’d be even less keen if it was going to be tv!! Their colour, sex or anything else wouldn’t matter either.
I won't either! Especially as they all look like they'd smell 🤣. Days of not showering and running around with those huge bags? No thanks.
And having to talk to them the whole way? Not in a million years.

I’m watching season 2 and I see a lot of the same complaints from season 3 tbh.

It’s in South America yeah so that’s different, and the state of emergency mixed it up a bit but we’ve just had all 4 of the teams ending up in the same place, then hours on the same bus or the bus just after it. So it’s the same as the Canada one 😂

They have said they’re given a list of job opportunities so presumably it is largely pre-selected as we’d wondered.

I think in s1 you see them looking through the booklet of jobs but I don’t remember it in s3. Just them saying there’s a job in…

I'm rewatching s2 and it's so funny how you see things differently second time around. First time round I thought Jen was a nightmare (and she kind of is haha) but I'm finding her really likeable and relatable this time. I also thought Sam was sweet but now he just seems like a spoilt, overgrown toddler. His relationship with his mum is sweet though.

She said he’s got foetal alcohol syndrome and I think that explains a lot of his behaviour. They do have such a lovely relationship!
