It's funny though because you forget that the camera crew etc also need to sit somewhere on these busses or trains etc for 18 hours with them

I’ve always wondered how this works with eg the last two seats. How many crew do they have and how many seats do they consequently actually need - it could make a lot of sense of some of the seemingly bizarre not rushing decisions I suppose.

I'm sure in the last episode when two of the couples run into each other you can see that each has two camera men with them so it's the couple plus two others.

I just wonder how exactly it works, if there were only two seats left on the bus would the contestants be allowed to take them and the crew catch up? Or would they be allowed to take just one if there were 3 of them or do they all travel as a 4 all the time non-negotiable.

James has done a Q&A on TikTok. He said that the crew have to figure themselves out, so I guess if there are only 2 seats left, the team can take them, then the crew would have to sort out what to do, I guess they could always spring for a taxi to follow the bus or something.
(Tattle won't seem to let me post the link)
Alfie has also posted a lot and answered some questions in comments.

I remember an episode in one of the early seasons where they couldn’t get on a bus because the bus only had seats for the couple but not for the camera crew. Also, in the past they couldn’t hitchhike unless there were 3/4 seats available in the car. I think they tweaked this in Canada by giving some hand held cameras out to the contestants.

I suppose they could give them GoPro type cameras so that in the case of crew members being unable to travel in the same vehicle they can still film their journey.

I'd imagine so few would stop if they see 4 people with big bags and camera equipment knowing they couldn't take them. Not knowing of course that they only actually had to take 2 passengers. Was it Canada where they couldn't hitch hike from the side of the road only in gas stations etc? So I guess a bit easier to explain. The documentary sounds really interesting.
