I absolutely cannot believe I'm able to join this thread and all of you lovely ladies, but after two tough years of ttc, I found out I'm pregnant last night. I'm in absolute shock as I've had absolutely no symptoms other than AF just not showing up. I'm over the moon, feel so incredibly lucky but extremely worried all at the same time. Ironically I was due to start my fertility journey with the NHS tomorrow.
Sorry if this is a really daft question, but other than taking folic acid daily, what can I do to give this pregnancy the best chances?

Congratulations. My midwife recommended folic acid and vitamin d rather than taking a pregnancy vitamin so you might want some vitamin d supplements too 😊 other than that rest, listen to your body and take it easy

Congratulations lovely. I still lurk on the TTC thread and I was so pleased to see your happy news.

Folic acid and vitamin D daily, there are obviously particular foods to avoid and maybe cut down on caffeine, but mainly, just be kind to yourself and give your body the rest it might need ❤️

Congratulations! I was exactly the same when I found out as I felt fine. I have been told to take vitamin D along with the folic acid. Wishing you a very healthy pregnancy xx

It’s my “baby shower” today. My best friend and sister wanted to organise something so I agreed to a lunch with selective family and friends.
i am looking forward to it today.
just need the energy to get up and get ready 😂
Enjoy! 😁 what are you doing for it? My friends have started pestering me about having one but I don’t have a clue what to do for it 😅

I can’t believe I’m posting this. I tested positive for Covid last Saturday. I felt a bit weird today and did a test and a big fat double line showed up straight away. 3 positive tests. I think I’m about 5 weeks, but I’m not sure as my cycle before my last period was 79 days
Congratulations! I don’t think it matter about any cycle timings except the first day of your last period. NHS will judge everything from that.

Weldone, that’s a big thing to go through. I used to work in bars and people talk absolute shit when they’re drunk, though they’re never “drunk” 🙄 wears thin quickly. Finally unpacked my hospital backpack this morning. Lots of uneaten, flattened snacks but it reminded me how useful it was to have a notepad and pen to write down what consultants were saying, as so much of it as a blur.
Don’t forget you can have a birth debrief if you need clarity on anything. Also if you have your maternity notes there should be birth report in the back of that I believe.

thanks! I did a clear blue digital today and it said 2-3.. I presume that’s without the 2 weeks extra so I’m about 4-5 weeks

Congratulations! My clear blue digital also says 2-3 weeks, but everything online says 4 weeks 1 day. It's so confusing! Looking back I think this baby may have been made on Christmas day 😅 We lost my partners dad very unexpectedly last year, I told my partner I think this baby is a Christmas present from his Dad ❤️🥺

I started to type maybe try a digital but then thought if it gave you 3 weeks+ it could be more confusing! Glad it gave you an answer. Do you know the first day of your last period? They’ll work out your midwife “booking in” appointment and first scan from it so would be worth trying to have a work out if you’re unsure.

Clear blue tells you when you conceived so you’d add about 11 days or so on to that for how many weeks pregnant you are as it starts in first day of last period (LMP) x

So happy for you ❤️ if you are 4 weeks and 1 day then we’re at the exact same point to the day!! Xx

I’m at my MAU again 😅 getting another iron transfusion. What a way to spend my Sundays but they monitor her before they start and it’s just so lovely hearing her heartbeat everytime 🥺 never gets old! Makes the big throbbing cannula in my arm and the iron getting pumped through my body worth it!

Huge congrats to you 🎉

I’d go with the date from your last period. That’s what I’m doing so I'm 5 weeks and 4 days. I’m sure if it’s any different, we’ll be told when we see doctor/midwife.

that’s a lovely present, he’s definitely watching over you both x

Congratulations. I was in the same position waiting for my next period to book some invasive testing/investigations done and then it never showed. Had no other symptoms at the very beginning. Think your questions has already been answered but welcome to the thread 💕

If anyone has a Costco Membership or knows some who does. They have a baby event going on at the moment. I saw the bugaboo chameleon 3 in there for £300 and the pushchair with carry cot is online for £370.

They've got Joie car seat, highchair, travel cot with drop side and stroller.

Does it come with carry cot? £350 with cot at Argos. If you use the car a lot it’s a real pain as you have to detach the cot or seat every time, if you have a small boot, I wouldn’t recommend. Also when you take off the carry cot it has a bar underneath so can’t be sat flat on the floor say if you want to detach it and bring them in sleeping. If you’re going to wheel it into the house though it’s no prob and it’s excellent for rugged terrain, so sturdy. Personal opinion as I know people who love it! It was about £1000 3 years ago so a great buy at that price if it suits you.

Joie car seats are very good but I’d recommend a 360 if you can stretch to it. If you’re on a tight budget every stage are great as they last but in terms of comfort & safety, they say (Which reviews) that no one seat can be the best from new born to 12 years old. Personal choice, again, depends how much you use the car, but it’s handy to have one that tilts back when they’re little and likely to fall asleep if you’re in the car a lot.
The Graco turn to me is the Joie 360 with different fabric and cheaper, I’ve both and there’s nothing in it.
I love Joie strollers and Joie as a brand in general. Watch for high chairs with long sides on the bases however as they as so easy to trip over! The ikea one is cheap and always a winner unless you need to fold it regularly.

These are my personal thoughts, I spent moonnnnttthhhhssss debating what to get, reading reviews, safety reports etc and still didn’t get it right every time. Different needs require different solutions and these are just based on my needs.

I've already got everything from my first. I was just sharing in case anyone was already looking to get any of those things because most of them are cheaper there than most other places.

I've never even researched the bugaboo but I know it's a popular brand which is why it caught my eye at that price and I thought it was worth sharing. I've got a Joie 360 that my 3.5 year old is in so I'll be using that for baby and moving him into something else. We got the Joie stages from Costco at one of their previous baby events for my in laws car and it's been great for when they take him.

We've also got an IKEA highchair in storage ready for the next one.

Good to see someone else Happy with the Joie 360 and ikea high chair as I don’t want to stick my oar in with shit information.

I think we’re getting an every stage for the In-laws too, got the Joie Elevate to move between OH’s van and Mum’s car but I’m not sure on what we’re doing for my car. Very lucky to have help but the car seats cost a fortune! We can’t go anywhere without a car as we’re so rural. Been looking at second hand Doonas but not sure if they’re gimmicky given that they shouldn’t be in them for more than a few hours and we do have an I-gemm that clips to the bugaboo (which I can’t warrant swapping out) for baby until toddler outgrows the spin. I Drive myself in circles with this stuff!!
