Thank you. It was a lovely afternoon. I didn’t know what we were doing but had said I didn’t want a baby shower “shower” if you know what I mean. just a lunch with close family / friends. They booked a private dining room at a restaurant I like and we all had a meal and played some of the typical games like how well do you know me and advice for the mum etc. It was really nice.
and now today is my first day of not getting up and going to work 🙈 time to start getting baby organised !!

Aww this sounds lovely! ❤️ And congratulations on starting mat leave - an exciting milestone!

Nervously joining at nearly 7 weeks after a loss in the summer. Have had early viability scan and all is well. Absolutely terrified though. With my youngest I had a PPH am also anemic and keep thinking what if I bleed to death during birth?? Making me a right bundle of nerves. Have included it in my midwife referral notes. Am doing my best to keep extra healthy. Excited but very nervous about the birth my other births PPH aside have been easy no rips or anything. Someone tell me this fear is just an attack by the devil. Reassure me I'm not going to bleed to death pls. Lol :(

I’ve been told I’m severely anemic this pregnancy and the last 2 Sundays I’ve been at my MAU for iron infusions! I’ve got no advice regarding the PPH but the midwives will be very on top of your anemia and if you need more than just the tablets they’ll give you something for it 🤗

Congratulations on the pregnancy!!

Congratulations ❤️ wishing you a healthy pregnancy!

I can fully understand why you’d have these concerns after your last experience but please be reassured your blood work will show up any obvious concerns and this is something perfectly valid to bring up with your midwife.

I had high blood loss with my first child and am now pregnant with twins so have been told that two babies means double the blood loss. For this reason they are keeping regular check on my levels to make sure my body is prepared for when this happens.

Thank you for your advice guys. I'm waiting on my booking appointment and will reiterate my concerns when I see midwife. I was told after my 2nd I'm 'built for pregnancy'. I'm taking multi vits and obviously folic acid. Gonna get some vit D as well. Also have gym membership and once I'm past 12 weeks am gonna start going and doing some walking on the treadmill. Am also panicking midwife will get funny cause my 2 youngest are SEN (severe autism and mild cerebal palsy/very delayed mentally as well) and apart from my partner have no real support system and start banging on about me 'coping' and use it to ring social on me. Then I'm worrying what if this one is SEN as well. Don't get me wrong I'm very excited as well and this is a planned baby just pure worrying.

Did anyone else suffer from heavy bleeding around 12 weeks and everything with the baby was totally fine? Even though I've had a scan and all is fine I still can't help worrying 😰

Congrats Lucy, so happy that your scan went well and all turned out to be okay ❤️

So happy to see you here @Lucyxxxx know how much this means to you and keeping everything crossed for you 😊❤️

Not from 12 weeks but from around 17 weeks I’ve had bleeding on and off and a couple of bigger/heavy bleeds, one of which got me admitted to hospital. Baby is always ok, thankfully. Have they found a reason for your bleeding? For me it’s because my placenta is so low. It’s terrifying though isn’t it. I don’t think I’ll ever get to the point I don’t panic straight away when I see it, even though I know for me it’s not affecting the baby.

When did everyone tell their work? As soon as they'd had their first dating scan and form from the midwife, or later?
I told work as soon as I knew I was pregnant (so around 5 weeks) because I knew I needed a risk assessment and amended duties, and then I ended up off sick for most of the first trimester anyway so couldn’t have avoided it. I did ask my boss not to tell anyone else until 12 weeks though which he stuck to 😊

I'm anxious about telling work, my supervisor can really turn on people as soon as they do something that causes her even the slightest inconvenience. I am the main person in my team so I feel like she's going to resent me and be awful to me for leaving them all in the lurch of sorts. I've seen her do it to others for far less. Eughh people hey!

I felt the same. I manage a team of 90 people and my boss relies on me to do all the paperwork and admin side, he doesn’t have a clue about any of it and nor does the other manager I work with (who also has 90 people but I pick up all his paperwork and admin too). He’s also very old fashioned in his views about men and women. So I was really worried that he’d make life difficult or make shitty comments because I’ve heard him do it about others but he’s actually been really good. I still go in after weeks off or WFH to find piles of paperwork left for me that he doesn’t know how to do but he’s taken any work off me that I said I couldn’t do and been really good with time off or letting me WFH when I’m able even though we weren’t set up for that and it’s not something our company generally supports.

Do you have HR you can go to? Do you need any early adjustments with being pregnant? Remember you’re very well protected when pregnant so if she tries anything the law is on your side. Not that that makes it any easier at the time but knowing she can’t get away with victimising you for being pregnant may help.

If she does, keep copies of everything and have her pulled up for discrimination. Some people should not be responsible for others in a workplace. If she's not capable of managing a team with months of notice, she's not fit to do her job and that's not to be put on you and cause stress or anxiety at an already vulnerable time. There are strong laws around pregnancy discrimination.

I told my manager last week (just under 12 weeks) as I need to work from home at the moment. I’ve told her to keep to herself for now until I’ve had my screening results etc. We are having a bit of a restructure so I would have waited for that to sort out if I didn’t have many symptoms.

@Jasminexx02 @raspberryjuice Thank you guys. ❤️

The tiredness has started to kick in. Accept on the night times ffs lol. Having 3/4 hr naps in the days. Am ready for one now. Due my 12 week scan around my birthday. Will probably get another reassurance scan just before to make sure lol. Not got many symptoms just tiredness. Boobs r sore sometimes and flashes of nausea which lasts seconds. I have all boys and suspect this one is also a boy. We was gonna wait til baby is born to find out what we are having. Well that's out the window we are just too impatient and need to know and will end up going early gender scan. Then I'll be raging rest of pregnancy that I didn't just wait and have a surprise. Defo my last baby (say this every time) so gonna do all the stuff I never did with the others like go the pregnancy classes and all that malarkey.

Thanks everyone, she never discriminates as such, it's just her attitude towards people changes for the worst in those situations. Nothing she can really be pulled up for but it's still not pleasant!

I'd imagine telling workplaces during restructures would be okay too as pregnancy and maternity are protected characteristics under the equality act (I'm no expert tho, I've just had to sit through a recent hr seminar 😆)

I told my manager when I was 6 weeks. I work in the NHS with radiation so we have to tell them as soon as we know for risk assessments and safety reasons. It's also really hard to get time off so it had to make sure she knew the reason why I needed time off for my appointments to make sure I got it.

I told the rest of colleagues after my 12 week scan but they'd all guessed anyway🙈

I told my manager at 5 weeks but I have an excellent working relationship with her. I had a missed miscarriage last Christmas and wanted her to know in case I needed to go back to hospital/in for scans this time around. I told HR after my 12 week scan and then they’ve told people in the business when I was around 16 weeks I think.
