I think Carmichael asked for Steveā€™s phone as a power play, she wanted to assert her authority and show who was in charge now. He handed it over because sheā€™s his superior, so not much choice.
I donā€™t think Carmichael is bent, I think she is ruthlessly ambitious and is happy to act on Osbourneā€™s behalf to trim down anti corruption if it gives her a leg up the ladder. Also from her perspective, AC-12 led by Hastingā€™s arenā€™t beyond reproach, Hastings has done some questionable/dodgy things in the past so why would she trust any of them?

I think theyā€™ve done pretty well to cover the issues they had with shooting during the pandemic too, I was slightly worried it would be ropey because of that. Awkward Steve and Steph scene aside I havenā€™t really noticed, though a colleague pointed out Joā€™s hair gets longer and shorter šŸ˜‚

If i have done my sums correctly the last episode is on the bank holiday weekend so we all have the Monday to recover! Yay

I kept thinking "No way she has enough hair for that bun" - this could be the answer (or a bun on a scrunchie lol)

Her bun last night was definitely much fuller than the bun she had when she went full Aer Lingus hostess in the glass box.

Carmichael just took the phone to exert power over Steve, she is the senior officer so he had to comply and she wanted to know where Kate was. I thought it was also a bit of a ur less than me when she put the phone on the table rather than handing it back cos she thinks she is better. I also believe she thinks AC-12 is a substandard unit compared to hers and once the teams are put together she will rule the roost to move her career up another level. I think she just wants power and doesn't care about police corruption.

James Nesbitt canā€™t do accents so I think he will have to have a past with Ted!
I'm dreading his accent šŸ˜‚ his file said he went through Melton and spent time at Polk Avenue and Hillside. No mention of the RUC but of course he could have entered the police in England and still be from NI.

I think itā€™s Carmichael on the other end of Joā€™s laptop
Who assigned Carmichael to take over? I think H is that person. Post #299 here says "look beyond the (Carmichael anagram)" which would make sense as "not her but whomever is beyond her". The person was mentioned by title but I'm not sure if it's someone whose name we know - I'm not good at following breadcrumbs I just eat them.

I feel like she would be in general life, but I wonder if the OCG misspelling is deliberate. Some sort of shibboleth.
It'll be like CITTIZINS in The Departed and Jo will drop a mug of tea on realising it.

I wish folk would stop posting spoilers for next week without using the spoiler button!! šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

I didnā€™t recognise any of the names in Tedā€™s sergeants course photo either but thatā€™s not to say that at least one wonā€™t appear in the next two episodes.

Iā€™m also thinking that Thurwellā€™s name has been thrown into the mix to leave the door open for a 7th series so is a bit of a red herring as far as this series is concerned.

Iā€™m sure more daft theories will come to me as the week goes on šŸ˜‚

Just rewatching now and Steve says it was on the chief constableā€™s orders, so Osbourne!

why do people get aggy when others canā€™t remember every single detail, itā€™s all for fun, no big deal. I would have missed the incest thing tonight if it wasnā€™t for you guys, itā€™s easily done. The first series aired nearly a decade ago. And not everyone has time to rewatch it. It also canā€™t be expected that everyone can read through 16 pages of thread so things are going to get repeated.

Iā€™m wondering if Jos gonna fix Kate up now for killing Ryan. Itā€™s a long shot but might be a way of ā€œgetting ridā€ of her without actually killing her.

Kateā€™s fine. Ryan had a workshopped OCG weapon while she was authorised to carry a firearm for her safety. He refused to surrender. Sheā€™s an AFO and they are authorised to discharge two shots in quick succession (if she did). Plus a quick check of Joā€™s and Kateā€™s call/text history would show she was lured there. No way would she get charged for that.

Of all the bleeping actors they chose to be Thurwell. You could hear my scream from Mars when it was Jimmy Nesbitt.

The thing with Line of Duty is that it doesn't even try to hide the connections to real life, Jed is very blatant with it, and there's part of me that respects it and then another part that doesn't know if it's unnecessary.

As soon as the name Lawrence Christopher was mentioned, given the context it came up in, I knew where it had come from. Same with Jimmy Saville being shown and named, or anything else that's come up.

I just don't know if we need an exact, or pretty much exact reference to real world issues randomly popping up in a storyline where we're having to link things together anyway, or if it's just a bit of a distraction.
I loved the way they referred to 'an elderly pop star' Cliff Richard will be FEWMIN :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

Is Vicky Mclure fitting another This is England in in between LOD. The way they ar
Just saw this theory...

Jimmy Lakewell said look beyond the RACE CLAIM to find H So take the letters of RACE CLAIM from the letters of CARMICHAEL What do you get..

INTERESTING
I think that very typical of Jed Mercurio lol

Soz if im late to the party but does anyone think Tommy Hunter is still alive? When he was brought from the safe house and put in the car he was covered in a blanket. In the hospital when he was killed he was covered in bandages. Sorry if its been brought up before

Commencing rewatch now! Stand by for more theories šŸ¤£
I also watch it again straight way! It like Harry Potter you always see something new
