I'm actually in a state of shock. I also feel a bit homeless radio wise. Not sure what to listen to now.

The problem is there not being enough light entertainment on radio like Steve has been. Every station it's the same old. There needs to be some shows that makes people laugh in the morning and night. Just comfortable radio that's easy listening. There's only so much politics and current events I can stomach.

I jokingly said to my husband that he'd spent the week misgendering Sam Smith but I honestly didn't hear him say that. He may well have done. I'd have to listen back.
I think I'll be listening again instead of Ian to see if he really did misgender Sam. If it did then I wouldn't be suprised if that was the reason.

I am also inclined to believe there might be some truth to this too. He was on thin ice a few months ago and it's probably all come to a head.

I hope he takes it easy and gets a podcast that allows him to enjoy spring in his garden and an afternoon prosecco.

It does seem petty to fire someone because of misgendering someone. Sign of the times. I wonder how many presenters on other stations feel the same as Steve but decide to toe the line as to not risk their job.

Bob Geldof did it the other day on This Morning and no one pulled him up on it apparently.

I actually can't see Steve working anywhere else after LBC. They knew his quirks, his foibles and the fact he couldn't do anything himself. I just can't see him starting again like Ken Bruce is.

(Ken has been cut short by Radio 2 as well. they're not letting him finish his contract)

He might have had to sign an NDA, although I can't imagine why he should have been sacked.
I didn't think of that maybe that's why Darren Adam has disappeared without a trace from LBC.
The show has been cancelled and monies are to be refunded.
In all seriousness I do worry for Steve losing his LBC job this could send him downhill health wise.

I wonder if anyone is going to ring up Nick Abbot and tell the producer that they want to speak about something. When on air start talking about that subject and then jump straight in and ask what happened to Steve Allen?!!!!
I thought that too. Nick A quite often speaks about all the foods Steve leaves but obviously no mention tonight of Steve at all.

Maggie has quoted Iain Dale's comments about Steve, above. Here are James O'B's comments.

@mrjamesob

A consummate, inspirational broadcaster with the sort of relationship with his listeners that the rest of can only dream of. A friend, a colleague, a legend. He will leave a huge whole at LBC & in many, many people's mornings. Take care,
@steveallenshow

(I think he means a "huge hole" !!)

I think TalkRadio should try to get Steve. Cristo is on the weekends so they wouldn't need to see each other.
And ditch James max?

If he went to GB news he could slot in easily and take up the place of repeats.

I'd worry if he stayed without a job, but someone must sign him up soon.

I can't imagine anybody wanting to hand a lucrative contract to a 68-year-old with a record of several potentially life threatening ailments.

I couldn't stand Steve Allen and his creepy misogynistic ways so I won't miss him. The way he addressed his producers was so rude and patronising, he was always punching down, but all in the name of "good fun".

I do hope some form of safeguarding is in place, this will have to affect him emotionally, he was always so certain of his position there and that place was his life. At least family friends and fans will offer support. He can turn off his three alarms now.

Unless is was all bollocks (which it might have been) I've heard Ferrari and even O'Brien say on air how much they respected Steve as a broadcaster. I think I've also heard Iain Dale praise him too. Whatever has happened I'm sure the departure of Steve will be felt throughout Global Towers, the message being: no one is untouchable. I wonder who is next to go. :unsure:
