Mmmm lard on cheap toast

FYI, in her dreadful Bootstrap book, she says any time they want bread in her house, they make it. Her foolproof wonderful recipes mean that one never needs to schlep to Asda to buy an inferior alternative, obvs 🙄

Is that the bread you make with normal flour cos you don't need bread flour despite people saying that bread flour works better, the one that she then said years later that they were right and it works better with bread flour?

Anyone else got Life by Des'ree stuck in their head?

I don't want to see a ghost
It's a sight that I fear most
I'd rather have a piece of toast
And watch the evening news

o/t but I love this twitter account that puts news headlines to the tune of Life

Honestly she should be careful cat tit can carry toxoplasmosis. Look it up, it's horrid. It's not something I would want to twit about with. I'm not saying she uses it to clean up the cat tit but the cat will most likely have bits of it on its paws and walking it through the house.

I would never let a cat on my worktops for that very reason. I'm am a big animal lover but I don't see the need to share my cooking and food prep place with them. My old dog had its own bowls and fork and her own bed that all got wash regulary. The floors were hoovered and washed daily.

Yeah cats are a bugger. I have four and they don't go on the worktops at all when we're watching. Occasionally I'll catch one there and they're off like a shot. They know, and they're just annoyed they got caught so I wipe stuff down before I use it.

You are spot on there. Spoiler below regarding loss/grieving.
Toxoplasmosis can cause a miscarriage to occur if the mother contracts it. Outdoor cats are particularly prone because by using their mouths to catch rats and mice (known carriers of this and many other diseases) they can be asymptomatic carriers. This is also why cat bites can cause infection, abscesses and sepsis in small mammals. I do like cats but I think their mouths are a disgusting cess pit of bacteria, much like Jack's nails. Good hygiene is a must.

She occasionally sends out sets of postcards (the pancake/nipple shot, mostly). The beige recipe cards, which are a separate Patreon tier, have never had their existence confirmed by anyone. They should have been going out weekly since October!
She did send out this one. It’s sort of beige...

I think it’s time for someone to pick a recipe to make again. Whose turn is it?
I made the whirly buns only I added caster sugar to the dough and three times as much dried fruitadded brown sugar and heaps more cinnamon to the filling and then brushed and scattered with sugar and cinnamon before baking, basically I didn’t follow her recipe as I knew it would be bland and shite

Do we think horse spoon is an attempt to communicate with Tattle? You can't sit with us, Jack. Go away.

I'm so glad she's got over her devastating mental breakdown that she shared a couple of days ago to bring us the thrilling kitchen content we crave. The more cynical among us may even say there was never anything wrong with her in the first place.

My cat knows very well she should not sit on table and countertop but when I come back to the (rented) flat she gets cross about my rules because she has been living half a day in complete anarchy.
I wipe every surface down before preparing and eating food.

I have got a very small kitchen compared to Jack's.. Like other Frauen have stated it has never stopped me from creating delicious meals either, presented with simple clean cutlery and crockery.
I am happy where I am but whenever Jack complains about something, I get upset because I am thinking: if she portrays her life as frugal or poor, what on earth am I then? The difference between her and I is that I am grateful (not a cheesy hashtag) with what I have got and I do not focus on what I am lacking. But I am happy with myself, worked full-time in jobs I often hated, doing a part time degree.
I was once on the verge of complaining how hard that was but very quickly changed my mind when I talked to a (very happy) Somali fellow student who shared her room with siblings and who did not get much quiet study time.

If Jack gets her forever home soon, the drama won't stop either. Feeling content is a state of mind, above a certain level of income, of course. Next thing will be that she will lose her forever home if case x or y happens.

Jack also seems to have bought fancy spray bottles to produce zero waste and cheaper cleaning stuff. She will break even in a year, I think.

She should not get praise for decluttering, it means she had too much stuff because she shopped too much. #notallisgiftedorpuddled

Edit: spelling
