Aegon and Haelena are married (and siblings) and although Aegon is the eldest son of Viserys, and therefore regarded as the true heir ever since his brother Aemond claimed Vhagar (that big ass dragon) he sort of had a “glow up” and surpasses Aegon in literally everything. Well, excepting drinking and being heir

Alicent said to Rhaenyra in the godswood: “You Targaryens have your queer customs” or something to that effect. She’s a massive hypocrite who believes what she does it right because the Hightowers of Old Town are deeply aligned with the Faith of the Seven. She goes on about upholding the kingdom and being decent yet covers up for her rapist son because she wants him to be King and keeps Ser Criston and Larys Strong around her despite knowing that they are murderers.

I am a bit confused too on the reasoning and benefits of marrying Aegon to Heleana. Unless she figured it set him up to look more like a traditional Targaryen king. But would the smarter thing not have been to marry him to a different powerful westerosi family to add to her Team Greens?

It was believed that only the blood of old Valyria could ride and command the dragons. It’s why Targaryens wed Targaryens, to keep their bloodline strong and maintain control of dragons.

obviously in the real world, who cares if someone is a bastard, but constantly killing people that accuse you of having bastard children is going to fly back in your face one day. i wonder how rhaenys felt after letting her guard down and agreeing to rhaenyra's deal (bearing in mind she believes that rhaenyra and daemon arranged for her son to be killed), only for daemon to split her brother in law's head like a burger bun, esp given that most of her husband's family is presumed dead or dying.

rhaenyra pisses me off a bit, but i dislike alicent's squad (sir friendzone and bootleg littlefinger). there is nobody i can 100% get behind yet. in GOT there were plenty of likeable characters but we're running a bit thin here atm. i like most of them A Bit but atm im just watching to see what happens. it's nice not to pick a side and for characters to be morally grey but i dont really care for any of their causes.

daemon is probably the most entertaining to watch but after he bashed his wife's head with a rock i can't really ride for him like that lol

Bootleg Littlefinger had me spitting my milk of the poppy out 😂

Loved when Viserys appeared all dolled up and made Otto get the hell off the throne. One last rally! For a dragon viewed as weak he took all his strength to protect his daughter and grandsons!

That made me cry uncontrollably. He was in so much agony but he walked in there and sat the Iron Throne to fight for her one more time. He heard his daughter’s cries and pleas, and used all of his energy and more. That’s love.

Thanks so much book readers, it's great to read here to understand better! I find I've had to Google some episodes for a synopsis after I've watched as some things weren't clear or I may have missed something! I have an unhealthy obsession with Daemon 🤣🤣🤣
Same here. I loved it when he helped Viserys to the throne and then cut the other guys head off ❤ brilliant stuff.

Am really enjoying this series. Does anyone know how many seasons there will be?

So the young serving girl who Aegon raped...was she paid off and the drink was to prevent a pregnancy?
Yeah. There’s a theory going around that Alicent poisoned her but it was debunked by the director of the episode. It was moon tea, just like the one the King ordered for Rhaenyra when he thought she’d slept with Daemon (but actually slept with Criston).

Fun fact - as well as Daenerys and Jon Snow being descended from Rhaenyra and Daemon’s line, so is the One-Eyed Raven that Bran Stark meets beneath the tree in GoT. His true name is Brynden Rivers and Viserys II Targaryen (R&D’s son) was his grandfather. Old Maester Aemon of the Night’s Watch is also of that line.
