Can anyone work out what it was vasaerys was saying to allicent at the end? I couldn’t work it out!
I’m up!
So, he mistook Alicent for Rhaenyra and basically continued the convo she had with him before - that Aegon the Conqueror’s dream was true and there would be a Prince Who Was Promised, and answering her question that she indeed should take the throne ‘it must be you’
But Alicent obviously knows nothing of the premonition so thinks the PWWP and the references to an Aegon are referencing her son (tricky when you like to reuse family names eh, also , Rhae and Daemon’s first son together is also an Aegon) and so when he says it must be you she clearly thinks he wants her to be regent til her Aegon is of age.

It feels a bit like they're trying to make Alicent less like Cersei... ie now she believes it's right that her son should be on the throne, rather than her just being a power hungry megalomaniac. :D

Yeah they’re definitely trying to make it a little grey rather than black and white - otherwise nobody would root for the greens lol
That said, if I was Rhaenyra I’d have at least made my bastard children super strong and cunning and that. Strike fear into people at least 🤣

The parallels in this are heartbreaking
Paddy was amazing all season but this episode I was weeping especially at the walk to the throne scene.
Viserys fighting for Rhaenyra till the very end 💔
The way I thought the ending of this episode (which is different then the books) is Viserys because he is drugged up again thinks he is continuing to talk to Rhaenyra about the song of Ice and Fire, he his referring to Aegon the Conquer but Alicent thinks he us speaking of there first born son. When he says my love at the very end I believe he was seeing his first wife.

At the very end? He said "my love" as @Thatirishone said above I think it's as he was being reunited with Aemma.
In my opinion that was the best episode so far...more of that please!
As others have said Paddy was great! I was routing for him on the walk to the throne and then wanting someone to put him out if his misery 😂
I found myself clapping when Vaemond said
her children are bastards and she is a bleep
true though! ☕
And what happened next...brutal!

I spent most of that episode in tears. Paddy Considine’s performance was second to none. Probably my favourite episode yet, actually.

Paddy’s performance is one of the best in the whole Game of Thrones franchise IMO.

The scene where Daemon picked up Viserys’s crown, walked him to the Iron Throne and put the crown back on his head had so much poignancy and heartbreak.

Fun fact: The crown falling off wasn’t in the script. It fell off Paddy’s head by accident and Matt Smith picked it up, and kept going.

Totally agree that it has been the best episode so far, although I still miss much of the dialogue which is irritating as there is much rewinding. Finally the pieces are falling into place and we can see the characters falling into their roles after the years of developments so hopefully no more major leaps in time for a while! The problem I have had with this against GoT is that there were so many more interesting characters and character arcs. Here we just get to know someone and they are gone. It happened again last night with Corlys’s brother. By all means kill people off, but let us get to know them a bit before you do. The Crab Feeder was another example. A very interesting character but we knew little about him and before we knew it he was sliced in half. I suppose if you have read the books you would have the answers. The penultimate episodes always seem to be the best so looking forward to next week. Will we get the Battle of the Bastards against the Non Bastards?

Loved when Viserys appeared all dolled up and made Otto get the hell off the throne. One last rally! For a dragon viewed as weak he took all his strength to protect his daughter and grandsons!

I really don’t think King V was weak. He just wanted to maintain the peace and prosperity that his grandfather, King Jaehaerys I, had restored after Maegor The Cruel’s reign. The difference is that Viserys made awful decisions that inadvertently led to civil war and the eventual destruction of his house. I do believe Princess Rhaenys, if given the chance, would have been a better Queen.

Watched last night’s episode. Poor Viserys - I cheered when he managed to get off his death bed long enough to defend Rhaenyra and her sons and have a last supper with the family. Doesn’t look like he’s managed to sort anything out long term though. There’s trouble a brewin’ between Rhaenyra and Alicent’s sons (Alicent’s sons are like a pair of King Joffreys from GOT) and then there was that weird conversation with Alicent at the end. Glad to read some of the responses on this thread to shed some light on that one - I had no clue what he was talking about.

I am loving this series but am struggling with keeping up with who’s who and names etc. I don’t think the time jumps have helped so I need to look at a Targaryen family tree today. Is Alicent’s son’s wife, his sister? Or someone else?

Also wardrobe and make up is incredible! Alicent’s dresses are so beautiful 😍

Yes he's married to his sister I think. George RR Martin likes lots of similar family names which makes it hard to follow imo.

Yes Alicent married her eldest son Aegon and her daughter together
