Horror films

I think I've only ever seen the first of the Insidious films. Not sure what is going on with the new Salems' Lot. It should have been released last year but was pushed to this year but there is still no official release date. To be fair I'm not a big fan of remakes and the first Salems' Lot will take a lot of beating! (That bloody window scene!!)

I had it in my mind there was a new Paranormal Activity film coming out as well but it seems the most recent one was in 2021. I do enjoy those ones.

Is there a horror film that you have seen that really has creeped you out?

Thirteen ghosts used to be one that always got me when I was a bit younger.
I did like a haunting in Connecticut too that freaked me out a bit on the first watch.

I tend to prefer serial killer/slasher/who done it type horror stuff over the paranormal films if I’m honest. They don’t really make many of these films anymore.

I watched The Pope's Exorcist last night.

Firstly, it's a film about an exorcism. They're not reinventing the wheel here. However, I really enjoyed it. Atmospheric, nice effects and a good performance by Russell Crow.

It has the potential to be a franchise.

Edit: just read that a sequel has been announced.

We are going to watch The Pope's Exorcist tonight (or maybe tomorrow) I'm looking forward to seeing it.

We watched M3gan last week as well. I thought it was okay, I'm sure that will be another one that will turn into a franchise. Has anyone seen Winnie The Pooh Blood and Honey? It looks mental!

Also someone mentioned The Descent earlier, my wife and I both love horror films but when we saw that in the cinema she totally freaked out at it and I basically had to carry her out of the screening because she was so scared. Needless to say, she hasn't watched it again or the sequel!

She isn’t missing anything with the sequel

Enjoyed 'Happy Deathday' on Netflix. Think there might be a sequel in the works. I was very disappointed in 'Halloween Ends.'

People have mentioned 'The Others'; the ending creeped me out so much, my scalp tightened to the point of it hurting! I'm sure it was only a 12 as well.
Happy Deathday 2 U came out in 2019, available for rent on Amazon and Youtube for £2.49 according to Just Watch. I recommend that app to everyone: you tell it what subscriptions you have and then you can search whatever you want to watch and it tells you if it is availabke for streaming on any platform and what price if not included.

I saw the new Insidious at the cinema last night, started well enough but was reliant on too many jump scares, I also think it didn't know what it wanted to be in the end and leaned too far into comedy. The best of the series is Chapter 3 for me, I think that one is good even for non-fans of the series as it has almost nothing to do with the rest.

Saw a few trailers, Cobweb looked interesting but the trailer probably gave away too much. I'll still watch it for Antony Starr though.

Talk To Me looked very promising, hoping that is as good as it looks.

I am looking forward to The Last Voyage of Demeter, the new Dracula film. Looks like a strong cast which is always reassuring.

It will be interesting to see what it's like, isn't it the same director as the Halloween reboot trilogy? Personally I'd have preferred them to have leaned more into The Exorcist 3 territory than rehashing the original but probably wouldn't get as much hype.

This scene from Exorcist 3 always freaks me out ...

I love all The Exorcist films even the Dominion/The Beginning prequels with Stellar Skarsgard. I'm looking forward to the new version.
