Horror films

What type of horror?
Jumpy or more supernatural?
Just finished watching Ju-On on Netflix the series it’s pretty good.. 6 episodes half hour long it’s the story behind The Grudge films if anyone’s interested 😊😊

I love the Saw movies

Hate anything with ghosts / supernatural storylines

Also love the Scream movies!

Anything with boring old murder, none of this ghost/alien/werewolf crap!
This is me also. Don't watch anything supernatural as I'm just not interested. Give me a slasher film any day. No real plot? No real problem 😉 if you like Scream then the tv series of it is good. Season 3 is crap IMO though. First two are worth watching but if you've seen slasher films, you'll likely guess the ending. There's a show called Slasher on Netflix that is good too. I watched Trick on Netflix the other day. It got torn to shreds in online reviews but I thought it was pretty decent. Don't get me wrong it won't win any awards but it's fine for one of those so bad it's good films. People have mentioned it above but Hush genuinely scared me. Been watching horror films since I was a kid and not much phases me but Hush actually gave me the creeps.

I love horror films, but they mess with my head so bad 😂
Three films I have watched and thought WTF 😨
Mum and Dad - British horror which is totally fucked up
The loved ones - Australian horror
Martyrs - French horror with subtitles
I remember watching Mum and Dad as a teen, its horrendous, made my stomarch turn!

Being a bit of a dinosaur, I can recommend the following selection of classic horror films. Modern audiences will probably sneer at the primative special effects and senarios, but they are worth watching.
An American werewolf in London
The Omen
Theatre of blood - Vincent Price - a little tonge in cheek this one.
Quatermass and the pit.
The Devil rides out.
I recommend some of the portmanteau films made by Amicus and Hammer.
From beyond the grave
Tales from the crypt. Ect.

Really like your suggestions there. Recently watched Qatermass and the Pit and found it genuinely creepy. I'd also add the original 'Whistle and I'll Come to You' to that list.

Also a fan of Rosemary's Baby, Don't Look Niw and the 70's remake of Invasion of the Body Snatchers.

Yes I have heard of Whistle and I'll come to you, not seen it yet though. Don't look now is an absolute classic film, but difficult to watch because of the subject matter - grief.
May I also recommend The Signal man, and if you fancy a binge watch Hammer house of horror, its not a film but a 13 part series. Some episodes are better than others though. Hope I haven't bored you.

No, not at all. Definitely give Whistle and I'll Come to You a watch. Not the John Hurt version, though, the original. I'll check out the Signal Man

I used to sit up late and watch the Hammer Horrors with my nan when I was little. Do you remember Dr Phibes? 😆

There's a lot of TV from the 70's-mid 80's that was rather creepy. In fact, there's a very comprehensive book that explores that era of TV and pop culture and it's overall creepiness.

The book sounds interesting, do you know the title?
Do you remember a children's series called "Children of the stones?" It was a brilliant series, really creepy. Some of it was filmed in Avebury in Wiltshire - well worth a visit.

Yes, it's called Scarred for Life: Volume One. It covers the 70's and I think the authors are, or at least were, planning a second volume to cover the 1980's.

Yes, Children of Stones. A lot of children's TV of that era had a very unsettling vibe.

Sinister and insidious are really good

Sinister was the first, and probably only horror that actually gave me nightmares.

My other favourites include The Forest (2016) and Us (2019) very interesting and unique plot!
I Spit On Your Grave movies - but I find them very gruesome to watch.
All the Wrong Turn movies.

I Spit On Your Grave was awesome!

Us was ok, definitely very different and so creepy

Does anyone have any Netflix horror suggestions? Everytime I start something it's rubbish or I just spend 3hrs scrolling.

I like zombies, the occult, supernatural, dracular, witches etc. Anything based on true stories is always good.

All the insidious films, Sinister
Orphan is good
Truth or dare
Hush
Cabin in the woods
A few to have a go with if you’ve not seen them xx

American horror story is fab if you like horror &/or psychological thriller/dark stuff. I loved the most recent series but I don’t think that’s on Netflix yet (1984).
I also loved the scream series on there & just rewatched all 3 series of “slasher” too on there. This is VERY gory but good if you like the old fashion serial killer horror movies.

I am too not a fan of supernatural however I did like the first haunting in Connecticut film. That freaked me out a bit.
I like last house on the left, dunno if is classes as horror but amazing film...bit of an uncomfortable watch for one part & that’s on Netflix atm.

Also loved the visit, strangers, sixth sense I still struggle to watch & im going on 28!
I also loved the film “identity” which is on Netflix still I think. That used to freak me out.
Hills have eyes (first one)
Wolf creek (first one)
The decent
Halloween films - they all scare me, ever since I was little haha.
30 days of night - vampire film but a good one.
I watched land of the dead again the other night & enjoyed that again.
An old film called Fallen also was one I remembered after watching.
Silence of the lambs.
The crow.

I LOVE horror/thriller films & find they don’t make really good horror ones any more at all. It all seems to be supernatural & I just don’t find them scary at all 🤷🏽‍♀️ Give me an old fashioned serial killer any day!

I liked the fourth kind.

I also liked we need to talk about Kevin, not exactly a horror but I thought it was very good psychological type film. The book is also good.

They are not on Netflix though, just a general recommendation.

Not many people like it (that I know) but 28 days later I find a goodie! (Zombies).

I watched Annabelle Comes Home yesterday because I read some good things about it but I thought it was dreadful and so boring. Plus there wasn’t enough of the Warrens who I think make the story more interesting!
Much preferred Annabelle Creation

A little bump as it’s coming up to Halloween 🎃 tell us the most fucked up movies you have seen!
Being off work since April, I watched A LOT of strange movies😬
The girl next door (2007) absolutely traumatic
Megan is missing - every 14 year old should watch this!
we need to talk about Kevin. Harrowing
Has anybody any new suggestions for me please? 🤗
