Great British Bake Off 2023

Question I’ve been wondering for a while now.
Do the bakers wash their own pots and wash their own work stations down or do they have someone do it for them?

;
People do it for them
All their ingredients are bought for them as well, they don’t bring them from home unless given special permission, for example brewed their own alcohol
Thanks, interesting.
I’ll try to find it but I remember reading an article a while back all about ‘a day in the life of the GBBO’ .. it was really interesting, things I wouldn’t even have thought about, for example every oven is tested each day of the competition before it gets going, checking to ensure one does not heat up quicker/slower than the others.

Yeah I'm sure I read that they make a Victoria sponge cake in each one every day to make sure everything comes out uniform

the only question I have is what happens to all of the bakes that they make? do they all get eaten by cast and crew? I can't cope with the thought of all the food waste if it's just thrown in the bin 😭

The show’s Chief Home Economist, Faenia Moore, told BBC Good Food “ It’s important for the bakers to eat what they’ve slaved over, so after each challenge I make up a ‘baker’s basket’ to go to their lunchroom. Then any leftovers go to the crew’s lunch. Everyone gets quite excited.’
Chetna Makan, a GBBO contestant from the 2014 series, agreed with Faenia that the contestants definitely help make sure nothing goes to waste.
In an interview with she said: ‘It’s not just the cameramen who swarm over the food, we [the other contestants] definitely do it too.’

Saw Alison interviewed before her first episode and she said how happy she was that they could all eat as much as they wanted and nothing edible got thrown away
