And did I miss the era where people tried to claim Serena Williams was a man? Because I don’t know why else people keep bringing her name into it. Unless they are misogynistic twats of course.

Serena was often, moreso earlier on in her career, referred to as being 'manly'; compared to a gorilla, and also being accused of being a man. Some commentators including the head of the Russian tennis federation and the former male champion Ille Nastase referred to her and Venus as the 'Williams brothers'. So, yes, it has been there in the background for much of her career.

I'm a huge tennis fan and I saw the sea-change even amongst fellow players as to how both Serena and Venus were treated and talked about over the years. Both the negative and pejorative comments and slurs were more about Serena because of her more muscular physique.

However, she's not the only female tennis player to have had her physique questioned: Martina Navratilova had similar accusations made against her (apart from 'gorilla' obviously), as did Amelie Mauresmo and Sam Stosur.

And for all these tennis players, the comments also came from other players who would say things like playing against them was 'like playing against a man'.

I actually do think I remember this growing up. bleeping disgraceful.

Why was the ‘gender test’ on Khelif only completed after the semi final? Lin Yu Ting lost bronze after winning it. It’s not like the IBA tested all boxers before the championships started. Did they test all of them or just certain ones? Something dodgy going on and I don’t believe any of them! And all of it affects real women.
This was questioned in the minutes of the meeting upholdIng the ban. The test results came back during the competition and after the completion of a previous competition, so they let that one stand and decided to withdraw them from the ongoing one. All a bit of a clusterfuck really if they don’t do systematic testing of all competitors when they start competing.

The lack of testing has put all athletes in the women’s competition under suspicion and led to really cruel speculation - especially those who are not petite with long hair, and elite sportspeople come in all shapes and sizes. If I was a female athlete I would be getting myself chromosome tested and publishing the results: I know they shouldn’t have to, but it’s a showstopper of an argument.
---
Also, don’t they already have randomised mandatory drug screenings? Why is a single cheek swap more difficult to organise than constantly urine testing?

And through to the semi final to play Khelif. At least we might be able to relax for that event!

Seriously… have I got the right person?
Heh, they have locked their Instagram. When you posted this I could see all their pics, now it's set to private.

I did go looking and saw that bit, had a lot to say about it but thought you might all be sick of me going on about it now so left it 😂

I’m not sure I can believe the 2022 results couldn’t stand and they had to allow the 2023 competition to go ahead with Khelif and Lin Yu Ting, knowing they were male and allowing them to fight women as far as semi finals. I just don’t buy their hands were tied legally over it. I believe their testing results but I don’t believe their motives for doing it and in 2023 they still put many women at risk of these men.

Anyway I’m not sure we will ever know the truth and just have to hope one day IOC will actually listen and take this seriously and test competitors and get all men out of women’s sports once and for all. I won’t hold my breath though.

My husband laughing next to me and said “a pole vaulter did his jump but knocked the pole off with his penis”
Me “was it in the men’s or the women’s”

I saw that on facebook that the guy's manhood hit the bar thing... shame he couldn't identify his balls and penis away, eh?! 🤭 Seriously though I hope his privates are ok, at least he was in the correct sex category!

Well that’s v interesting. I clicked the link and the page was full of pictures of a very muscly looking bloke.
I just clicked on it again to show Mr B what I was chuntering about and the account is now private. 🧐
Same. Did you see the Air Force pics though. She was in a skirt and jacket and to be fair, I did notice her feet were both pointing forwards, not out at a 90 degree angle like most of the TIMs 🤣

(Looking at you, "Rachel Levine")

Remember the IOC allowed Laurel Hubbard to compete in the female category.
I don't trust them at all.
