I'm watching the mixed swimming medley. Some teams have started their men first and some teams have started their women and there is a massive difference in how they did on the first leg. The commentators are even saying things like France are doing well but they have both their women to come. These are elite Olympic athletes and there is no comparison between men and women.

I saw that on facebook that the guy's manhood hit the bar thing... shame he couldn't identify his balls and penis away, eh?! 🤭 Seriously though I hope his privates are ok, at least he was in the correct sex category!

Allo! Allo! Le zizi has heet ze bar!

It's not going away but nobody cares really. Too busy being kind rather than looking out for the age keeping of women. People are getting annoyed at you pointing out a problem rather than the problem itself.

IBA chief Umar Kremlev has now said the tests were carried out by medical professionals "at the request of female athletes" and after "the women's coaches complained a lot".

"Here [at the IBA] we do everything transparently," he continued. "The only thing is that we cannot give away [is] medical documents. As president, I cannot do this - this is people's personal data, genetic data.

"I have no right to do this. It's like private property. They agreed to get tested, and the analysis showed that they had strong genes."

“I cannot give anyway people’s genetic data… they had strong genes”

😂😂😂 that’s pretty much confirming the kind of test it was.

The lack of testing has put all athletes in the women’s competition under suspicion and led to really cruel speculation - especially those who are not petite with long hair, and elite sportspeople come in all shapes and sizes. If I was a female athlete I would be getting myself chromosome tested and publishing the results: I know they shouldn’t have to, but it’s a showstopper of an argument.

Also, don’t they already have randomised mandatory drug screenings? Why is a single cheek swap more difficult to organise than constantly urine testing?

A colleague has a child who competes (Olympics, commonwealth and all the others) and I was really surprised how invasive the drugs testing is. She was telling me that any overnight stays away from home have to be reported and an address provided, and they can turn up at any time of day unannounced asking for a urine sample, which has to be witnessed. If they turn up and you're not where you said you would be, it's a big problem.
Can't see how a cheek swab would cause any additional bother in comparison.

I didn’t think it would happen so soon after only touching on it in this thread this morning, but… ding ding ding… ladies and gents… may I present to you… THE STRAW MAN

How do they know themselves where they're going to be all the time? What if you want to go out for the day and hadn't planned it?!

I think it's harder to tell with Thai men, because they are a very fine-boned and often petite people/race - both characteristics we tend to associate with females
I think they are the only ones that can 'pass'

It's not quite that bad but you do have to give a 1 hour window in every 24 hours for testing. If you're not available where you said you would be in that hour then it's a strike, 3 strikes is a ban.

You can update your availability pretty easily and for pretty much all athletes, there will be a set time for training everyday anyway.
Tennis players are the ones most likely to fall foul due to the amount of travel they have and the nature of their competition but the vast majority seem to be able to comply with the rules.
