This is what I don’t get. World class athletes get constantly tested. A cheek swab is non invasive, it’s quick and it only needs to be done once.A colleague has a child who competes (Olympics, commonwealth and all the others) and I was really surprised how invasive the drugs testing is. She was telling me that any overnight stays away from home have to be reported and an address provided, and they can turn up at any time of day unannounced asking for a urine sample, which has to be witnessed. If they turn up and you're not where you said you would be, it's a big problem.
Can't see how a cheek swab would cause any additional bother in comparison.
The only reason that they stopped doing it is because someone had a vested interest in getting it stopped. And that person or people aren’t women.
