It annoys me how the official Eurovision social authors are so obviously biased to any country beginning with ‘S’ (Spain, Serbia and Sweden) yet love having a little dig at the UK. This from this morning’s live blog of Sam’s second rehearsal.

They can piss right off!

Saw some Twitter press suggesting that Sam is saving his vocals for the actual competition which is probably right. He definitely seems to struggle with some higher notes sometimes but I wouldn’t say it’s that obvious - you can just tell it’s not effortless

Italy’s second rehearsal is 😬😬
Really hope the two get some rest. I know Mahmood’s singing has been criticised before but this sounded particularly bad

Apparently some press have said that it’s obvious him and Blanco haven’t sang together in a while which is sort of interesting given the whole conversation about pre-parties and the first rehearsal

Again I’m having an issue with the lights being too much. I genuinely think that the issue must be that there is too many lights being used and that it ends up looking bad on camera at times, especially in close ups. The wider shots of the lights doing it’s thing looked pretty good though

It's sad times when we're all just hoping just to get to the left side of the board .. that would be regarded as a win in the UK :ROFLMAO:
It is a bit sad really isn't it? IMO Sam is the best entry we've sent this century. If he was representing another country he would be one of the favourites. In my view he's a million times better than that overhyped Swedish entry.

I just hope that he pulls off a stellar performance on the night and ends up on the right hand side of the board.

It probably doesn't matter too much to him if he actually wins because this will be the start of an international career for him. In that sense he'll definitely be one of the real winners.

Mahmood and Blanco are starting to p*ss me off now even though I like their song, they seem to have no interest in the contest (and I realise why not, as they're big stars already in Italy and Brividi has already been a hit). I'm getting a feeling that they'll come across as cold and not bothered on the Eurovision stage, losing some of the magic of the Sanremo performance which would be essential for them to win. I'm really struggling to see Brividi win now, also considering that people might not want to vote for the host, and its poor running order 9th.

I actually wonder if, thanks to Boris and his handling of the Russian invasion, we may get some marks from Eastern Europe. Our reputation in Eastern Europe has improved and we are seen as a strong allie

Genuinely never thought I’d live to see the day where the UK is a potential winner!🤯 We should be fine in the jury vote, it’s the televote which could make or break us.

Sam’s reaction though to getting the 2nd half is everything, someone must’ve told him that’s better than the 1st!😂 He is honestly such a great representative, always so humble and happy

I'm cheering for Sam. I don't love his song but he seems so nice and a charismatic performer and really making a great effort. If he did well, it might encourage more decent UK efforts in the future.

Is anyone else scared though that people won't want to vote for us, for some reason? I always roll my eyes every year at the Daily Mail articles blaming Brexit and Iraq War or whatever for our poor results, now I'm starting to get nervous its true that the televote wont favour us :( I don't know why

Latest odds. This is scary.

Greece doing well in the odds there, I can see it being a top 3 jury finisher. Italy slipping a bit and Poland seems to have been written off as a winner despite the initial hype.

I'd love a France win but I realise it's not happening

I'm not getting drawn into that. Remember the old expression 'it's the hope that kills you' 🤪
Honestly I should’ve learnt by now not to get sucked into thinking we could win and ending up deflated by a 20-26th place 🙈 His second rehearsal is currently trending number 1 on YouTube so a girl can hope😂 This will definitely be our best result since Lucie though

My daughter is also a Eurovision nut and when she was small I said to her that if the UK won we'd go to the final ... she's 25 now :ROFLMAO:

I don’t take the Eurovision odds seriously but there’s definitely a lot of love for Sam across the Eurofandom. Last month Aussievision ranked the studio version 10th and they thought Sam might come top 15 or left hand side at best but since watching the full 2nd rehearsal with the 2nd half draw they are convinced he will be top 10 minimum with top 5 potential due to his strong vocal and they said you can see his positive energy and charisma radiate through him when he sings. It was funny seeing the different reactions to his guitar solo as he kept it secret.

Question, it Ukraine do win and they can’t host next year, how is the replacement city decided? Does it go to whoever offers the most money? Do the Ukrainian board get to choose?

This has happened before but not since 1980, Israel refused to host because the proposed date clashed with a Jewish festival and I think they were also not keen on hosting 2 years in a row. Netherlands hosted instead.

I think if Ukraine refuse to host in their own countrt, EBU could see if anyone else wanted to host (perhaps a co hosting option with Ukraine OR a country just hosting independently of Ukraine). If no one was willing (unlikely) then I'm not sure what would happen.
