I’ll riot! 🤣 I haven’t heard the song but I can see the televote going in their favour but surely Ukraine don’t even want to win it at this moment?

Yeah, that's my fear.

I do think Ukraine will do poorly in the jury vote, probably failing to make top 10 in jury vote (unless I'm underestimating the extent to which juries might award sympathy points). In a "normal" year I could see it only coming in the middle of the pack in the jury vote, not sure it's gonna do much better than that this year unless the juries genuinely award sympathy votes.

Ukraine will probably top televote but not sure that's gonna be enough to win if they flop in jury. I actually think Stefania is a good song and even in a "normal" year would be televote friendly (would come in top 5 televote anyway).

I could see the EBU giving Ukraine a poor slot in the running order to avoid them winning (it's less hassle to be frank, if Ukraine doesn't win)

Oh I think they would quite like to win it, to stick two fingers up to Russia. They quite likely don't want to host it for a few years though. Hopefully the EBU would let the second place country host it next instead.
 
So it was announced today that if Australia were to win (ever) Germany would get to choose whether they would like to host for Australia. If Germany refuses it‘s onto the UK… this might be applied to Ukraine?

Apparently the Ukrainian broadcasters have said that they would look to host in Poland

Opinions after the opening ceremony, from the little of the songs I heard:
Spain seems very overhyped
Moldova seems very fun
Norway is catchyyy, genuinely wouldn’t be surprised if they won’t the televote

None of the little snippets gave me winner vibes or really interested me too much (discounting the fun entries here of course), so there may be some strong hope for the UK
 
Review I read I’ll put some in spoilers

The one song we know in the second half is the United Kingdom and they can win. Sam Ryder is the superstar. His vocals and ad-libs are magnificent and his costume is iconic. There’s nobody as cool as him. The staging is brilliant and the start of the song sees him on a little platform illuminated with white lighting and everything else in darkness. It is a moment. There is a staging problem in the last minute but they will sort that out. This 1/2 step backwards with the staging is made up by a huge leap forward
Sam grabs his electric guitar, throws his head back and let’s rip
and it is one of the iconic moments of the contest. He looks exactly like the next generation of UK mega star and the comparison to winner Salvador Sobral I made before I do not make lightly. He is at one with the music and is so ridiculously likeable. Ultimately people vote for a character and there is no character more cool and dreamy this year. I still doubt the televote appeal despite this but he’s drawn second half and I’m telling you know this is a moment.
