No death is right ?
That's what I'm saying! But lots of people are so dismissive of other illnesses now and advocating this lockdown and basically saying that well of course people are dying of other infectious illnesses but we expect that. No. Its never okay. We have people dying of cancer because their treatments have been postponed due to a virus that most likely won't kill them, but cancer will. Thats not okay!

It'll be five weeks that my family and I have been in the house for on Monday. The kids are starting to struggle and the cracks are appearing with the hubby, he has mental health issues. We aren't even allowed to go for a drive for an hour as it's classed as unnecessary. I know we have to stay in for the sake of the NHS but it's so blimming hard.
Why can't you go for a walk?

It's either filter it through slowly so they can treat those that get it and stand a chance of them recovering or let it sweep through at a rate where the NHS collapses and people die that may well have survived because they can't get treated because there are no beds or enough vents or enough NHS staff to care for you.
I went out as was out of dog food so I needed to pick some up. Just going for the drive to pick up the food lifted my spirits. I think I was feeling cooped up as I hadn't been out for a few days. I was impressed with how the vet handled the curbside pickup. I called when I was outside, told them what food I needed (it's only sold at vets), and what car I was in. I paid over the phone. The girl came out with a mask and gloves on, I opened up the boot, she put the bag of food in and that was it. Really easy.

I wanna start by saying this is not aimed at you.
But this is fast becoming the tag line for people who haven’t got a bleeping clue what they’re talking about (especially on twitter)
people who are frustrated and think they know better,
the same people that kicked off when lockdown wasn’t declared are now dragging around “mental health“ soapboxes calling for it to be abolished. It’s nonsensical.

reality is we’re all frustrated, we all need to accept whats happening and ride it out, nobody has been left without support financially, the government (of almost all countries) are doing their best to support as many effected as they can, pe are not going without a wage, i do worry about vulnerable people, I do worry about the elderly and depressed but what do people want,
damned if you do damned if you don’t at this point.

nobody can control this. Nobody.
Yes!!!!

Has my dad's funeral today with 9 of us which is more than sone areas are permitting so was grateful fir that.
No limos no flowers but they did let ys put the chairs together in family groups.
And yes we did all hug in the car park and break the rules but we've all been isolating inside for two weeks and we all just needed the support. And tonight I'm just too sad and fed up with everything to even care.
I am really sorry for your loss xx

I thought I saw Nicola Sturgeon saying all cancer treatments would be going ahead as planned. Was a few weeks ago. Is this not true ? If so that's awful I thought life saving treatments would be going ahead with as much precautions as possible.

I know it’s breaking the rules but I really don’t think anyone would chastise you for taking a drive to help your mental health. As long as you didn’t do it everyday, if it helps you, and doesn’t risk anyone then I would do so.
I understand of course there are risks of breakdown and what not but a 20 min drive around where you live wouldn’t be harmful if you could still return safely if something happened x

I have seen some people in England (?) saying their cancer treatment is postponed. Bloody awful and terrifying for those individuals.

I believe most things are going ahead as much as they can. I’ve not heard of anything being ‘stopped’ but being re routed I.e in dental hospitals.
It’s a hard call for everyone and I don’t think anyone is dismissing other illnesses, Chris Witty said today for people to still make sure they look after themselves and head to a&e if they need it.

Totally agree with this. Windows down, fresh air blowing in. No need to get out of the car.

Well the lockdown is to give every person the "best chance" if they catch this thing ,so the NHS are not overwhelmed ..I don't think seriously ill people are being denied treatment at all infact hospitals are encouraging people that find worrying symptoms not to put off visiting doctors or hospitals..

I won't lie. I have been on 3 drives in 3 weeks. I try to combine it with my weekly shop and will just drive around with the windows down with some feel good music for about 20 mins - Mostly I do it for me, but I also have the excuse that my car has ad-blue and needs to be driven regularly at a considerable speed for whatever reason. It's some sort of govt initiative.
Theres no harm in a drive, if you're alone or with people of the same household.

May be true for scotland but there's been loads of interviews with patients in england saying they are having to wait, some are being posted their chemotherapy pills. It is awful what they are going through.

My friend was diagnosed late February, had a mastectomy and lymph nodes removed. She was meant to start chemo but everything is on hold and she has no start date. She is beside herself with worry. And we are in the South West in one of the least affected areas.

can you link the stats and information behind this?
I just want to see for myself where people with cancer are being refused treatment due to covid/lockdowns?

I can only talk for the information I have see from my own country but on a number of occasions in the last 3 weeks the public have been urged to use A&E more because it’s so quiet, they’ve been told NOT to be scared to seek help for other illnesses, because A&E has been unusually quiet they’re urging people to use it, to contact GP’s and not to shy away from getting treatment,
as far as I’m aware non essential and elective surgery has been put on hold until next month but not critical care treatment?

Is this not correct?

as I’ve said before I’m fine with people proving me wrong if I’m wrong,
but social media, especially in the last few weeks has no problem turning fiction into fact to strengthen their argument.
