If the vaccines were holding strong that wouldn't matter ,I thought you had faith in them .

Vaccines + other public health measures. Masks in certain settings and isolating if positive. Let’s not go over that conversation again.

Also to add natural immunity doesn’t hold up that well when it comes to Omicron.

I thought they were putting it down to the vaccines waning , it's going up in Scotland at speed .
So I have covid and I’m in Scotland. I know LOADS of people with covid right now and I’m sure there are various places people have caught it, but for the vast majority of people I know (including myself) we caught it at a big dance competition last weekend. The venue seats 3000. It was packed full both days. I was there 15 hours Saturday and 13 hours Sunday. With people from all over Scotland. Very few face coverings (I was in the minority wearing mine) and no vaccine passports or test results checked for entry despite it still being a legal requirement at the time. I reckon some people competing at that event had covid and just didn’t test because they felt fine and didn’t want to run the risk of not being able to compete. With that many people in the same room (albeit a large arena) many for over 10 hours a day there were bound to be a lot of cases coming out of it that will spread further in to the community. Most people at the comp were under 18 so not all would be vaccinated.

Im in scotland too...i know more people with covid now (thinking place of work, education etc) than last year. Its mental. People who worked the last 2 years, now getting it. Attitude of people is definitely that covid is over come 21st march.

I mean against severe disease it wouldn’t matter, they’ve told people to carry on so the gov aren’t interested in curbing infections.

2 years, 2 jabs and it’s finally got me dammit. Had a sore throat come on this afternoon and now runny nose along with a bit of a headache so thought I’d better do a lft as was due in the office Thursday.. very strong positive. Hoping I don’t end up too Ill, I’ve got too much work to do!

Same! Loads have it atm, a few for the second time. Still don’t know how I’ve dodged it so far 😬

I had managed to dodge it for all of this time.....despite many close contacts with positive cases......unfortunately it has got me now and it's not pretty at all 😷🤢 its funny coz it honestly doesn't feel like any cold I have had In the past....it has wiped me out......i know it probably would have been worse at the start but I wouldn't wish this on anyone 😷😩

Its awful isn't it, so sorry you're feeling rubbish. It took me a long time to get over the tiredness. We've all got coughs and colds in work but we're well enough to go in but it wouldn't surprise me If a few test positive. I assume now that we don't have to isolate any time off will be counted towards sickness absence? Quite a few of my colleagues are on stage sickness absence reviews and won't take any time off.

I hope you feel better soon. My toddler had it recently and 6 weeks on she’s still not 100%. She’s just started to get her appetite back. But she’s constantly asking to go for naps.

I'm on day 6 and this is the most tired I've felt. I work from home and said I was still fine to work but I fell asleep before starting this morning even though I'd been up for a few hours. My other half had to give me a nudge. Been otherwise OK with very mild cold symptoms and just lost my appetite a bit. I think that's back today too as I was SO hungry when I got up this morning. Like the hungriest I've been since last Thursday.

I remember having swine flu during that pandemic around 2009. It was similar to covid in that it seemed to weaken (some of) those who had it for some time. For 2 years after having it, I kept on getting laryngitis and tonsillitis infections. It was a real nuisance but eventually it did stop.

Sooooooo just to let everyone know we were supposed to be meeting up with family tomorrow who had omicron in January like us and the brother in law has just tested positive again. About 8 weeks later. So natural immunity my actual duck! And he was fully sick.

Oh god love her....❤ so much harder for the babies as they can't tell us what's up....hope she is on the mend soon....my 14 year old had it in july last year.....his appetite is no where near what it was, he has lost so much weight and he too naps a lot more.....my daughter who is a nurse has had it 3 times and her fatigue is shocking for a 23 year old.....her bloods are all over the place too....funny old virus this 🙄😷

I wish my appetite would bugger off Haha!!! I seem to be eating more! 🙈

Anyone had antibody test to check if they've previously had covid unknowingly?

I think you mean the antibody test. Yes I had one a while ago and returned positive - however I'd had my vaccine by that point so wondered if that was why.

Me and my 8 year old - she tested positive (she’s unvaccinated) I didn’t. She had another one a year later and had no antibodies….

If it’s just the pin prick one it will pick up any antibodies vaccine/natural. They can break it down in the lab though

I’m day 2 and feeling totally drained, but otherwise just fairly mild cold symptoms. Out of interest does anyone know anyone who has actually tested negative on day 5? Everyone I know who has had it has tested positive for the full 10 days and longer even if the symptoms only last for 5 days or so.

My sons friend is the same, seems to be a shorter reinfection span for omicron, although they did state that for children I haven’t seen them say the same for adults.
