I hate it when Liza's away and the only stand in I like for her is Sean Keaveney.

I don't often listen to much music radio during the week. But how often does Sean Keaveney present on the radio? I remember listening to him a couple times. I didn't know who he was so googled him because he comes across really well. Does he mostly work on the Northern based stations?

He used to have a 6 Music show, but has slots on Radio 4 and sits in for Liza on Radio 2. He has a podcast and I imagine he does other broadcasting as well.

Not a huge Sean Keveney fan and I say this as a "cool" dude who listened to 6 music from the mid noughties until very recently. A lot of his act seemed to revolve around "I'm a Northern me" which got boring very quickly.

Now I have no time to listen to breakfast radio due to screaming weans in the morning so any old tit will do 😂

As an aside I thoroughly enjoyed listening to Radio 2 today whilst doing my usual dinner prep/cake baking for the week. Dermot and dear Rylan sounded like they were having an absolute whale of a time. I don't think that chemistry can be faked.

I like the handover on a Sat morning between Tony Blackburn & Dermot, they genuinely get on well too.
Now, send us some home made cakes please 😁

I'm enjoying Cerys Matthews' show on 6Music, Sunday mornings.
Never know what you are going to hear, a family of Balkan cave whistlers' new single, a Pentangle track or tales of foraging for seaweed to make Lava Bread.
😁
She's nothing like the old Catatonia rock chick these days.

Oh my goodness Katherine Ryan on Desert Island Discs. I really don't know much about her, never seen her stand up routine, but she seems intensely shallow. Going on and on about being pretty. And the importance of being pretty. I can't tell if it is a joke.

I remember seeing a programme about her on tv & her talking about how she thought she was ugly & geeky as a kid, insecure.
This lead her into having plastic surgery, botox lips etc.

A friend grew up in Swansea with Cerys and being the daughter of doctors Cerys was a fountain of knowledge in primary school apparently, so my friend’s claim to fame is being educated about periods behind the bike sheds by her.

BBC Local Radio listeners probably know all about the changes taking place. Last night was the first of the all-England 10pm -1am late shows, to be presented from Manchester Sunday to Thursday by Becky Want, and from London on Fridays & Saturdays by Jo Good.

I listened to BW last night and it didn't bode well, it was so flat I suspected it was pre-recorded, the only thing that pointed otherwise was a caller with a very bad line who presumably wouldn't be included if it wasn't live. Becky mentioned a newspaper article about a flight attendant who listed annoying habits of passengers, and sought calls on the topic. This must be the laziest subject ever, the papers have been full of this tired topic harvested from Insta and TikTok for years. Becky signed off with a big teaser for tonight's show........ a (recorded) interview with James Blunt

Tattlers on the Jo Good threads are keen to hear if this London-based luvvie will be allowed to continuously tout her monetised social media channels on her BBC all-England shows from this Friday. She's been doing this on BBC Radio London for years, seemingly with impunity. New listeners should keep an ear out for her namechecks of certain companies who she works for outside of the BBC, including Hobb's fashion, LU biscuits, Sheerluxe, Marylebone Village Limited, Paula's Choice, and many more. Jo Good 'casually' drops in mentions of such companies during on-air conversations or, more blatantly, she actually invites reps of these companies on the show, eg answering questions on a half-hour "fashion phone-in".

Do any Manc Tattlers know if Becky has done any similar commercial promos on-air on the Beeb?

I gave Becky Want's BBC Local all-England late show another try last night. How the BBC can think that this in anyway serves the listenership as local radio is laughable.

The James Blunt plug for his new album tour and book interview was played out torturously in several parts during the show, most of it had already been heard during the clips trailing it. By the time it was all over I'd heard that he lives in Ibiza about a dozen times. It supposedly was Becky who recorded the interview with him but it sounded like those radio interviews of the 80s where radio stations got scripted questions with the star's pre-recorded answers, and the presenters voice was edited in.

Becky Want seems a capable and likeable presenter. While she was interviewing a woman who took up battlerapping in her 60s I kept waiting for her to interupt to divert the topic to herself, as BBC RL listeners know Jo Good does continuously. But no, she simply kept the interview on-topic, asked relevant questions and let the woman speak.

Just listened to 'Young Again' - a podcast on Radio 4 with Kirsty Young interviewing famous people about their younger selves.
I had forgotten how much I disliked her interviewing style. Completely toadying. Her questions are along the lines of 'you're amazing. How do you cope with being so amazing?'.
