Agreed - She's quite serious which works for the news but not an interactive call in show.

This Tina Daheley? 😂

I agree though. She's not a great stand-in for Jeremy Vine. As well as being too serious and dull, I felt that she didn't come across too well yesterday on the feature about dangerous dogs.

I'm not sure if Tina's a dog owner herself but a lady called in about her fear of all dogs and Tina didn't sound very sympathetic. The woman was going on a bit so I think Tina was probably trying to wrap her up and move on but she didn't do a good job of it and came across as quite nasty, like you could literally hear her eyes rolling through the airwaves.

I listened to the 1st hour of Pick of The Pops with Steve Wright yesterday, he's up to his old crap again.
Singing & talking over the tunes in a stupid voice, he used to do it with people's Non-Stop Oldies & 3pm, he just can't help himself, in fact he knows it annoys listeners.
Radio 2 have been desperate to find him something & he's hung around like a bad fart, how long until Tim Smith & Janie appear with "FACTOIDS about 1978" !!?
Paul Gambaccini was so much better. 😔

I miss Gambo. I said to Mr A ffs I see Steve Wright still sings over intros. Mr A didn't realise this was a thing!

Jason Rosam said this morning (on his BBC local/national 5am - 6am show) that he will have an announcement tomorrow. I'm wondering if it will be about the schedule changes which he had previously said would happen in December.

Jason Rosam announced this morning (during the 5am hour that goes out nationally on local BBC radio stations) that the early breakfast show will be no more but he will remain until January 5th. He was very gracious, saying it wasn't what he wanted but that things are changing. Then in the 6am hour (which goes out only on BBC Radio London) he said that he will be leaving BBC Radio London after 15 years. He said he hopes to be back on the air, but didn't say where or when. I wonder if other shows on the station have that date as a deadline. IIRC the ultimate plan for local stations is local output only 6am to 2pm and for sport.

I like Jason and am curious to know what he has planned next. I also wonder if 5 Jan is a other deadline day for some RL shows.

I used to like flicking on shows from other regions to see what they were like, and occasionally to catch up with my own former region that I left years ago. I hate the way everything is homogenised now.

BBC Radio appear to be intent on killing off their regional content/broadcasting sadly.
Kind of like when local independent radio stations are killed off & swallowed up by the likes of Global, Bauer etc, we'll probably now get BBC radio nationwide with just regional news bulletins to suit your area.
All in the name of cost-cutting.
Perhaps if they cut the ridiculous salaries of some of their top earners we'd get a good public service broadcaster.
The only plus side is online radio, which is growing well, there are lots of stations, run by enthusiasts & volunteers, some of them put the big name stations to shame with their variety of music.

Any in particular that you'd recommend?
What type of music?
UK -
Solid Gold Gem AM - plays good music, from the 50's until 90's/early 2000's (no adverts)
Radio Caroline - similar to above, plays lots of B-sides, album tracks from the 60s onwards
Two from the USA -
Oldies 107.9 w.o.l.d New Jersey - soft rock, 60's-2000's , The Beatles (on a Sat morning) Yacht Rock, they have some talk shows too at the weekend, health, money etc.
KDRI - The Drive 101.7 Tucson, Arizona - similar to above, Country, soft rock, everything from Roberta Flack to The Eagles 😁 not much talk from presenters, not many adverts.

I highly recommend them, easy listening & a change from the doom of LBC, 5live.

Excellent, thanks, always good to find new stations.

I find Dotun a terrible listen but he's being given even more, absolute ear-ache
I have mentioned it before but I could get on listening to Dotun more if he didn't mention the phone number so much..I know if he didn't give the number there wouldn't be a phone in...but there is a limit. He gives it before he has even told folk what the topics are to ring in about at times! And he bellows so much at times...not very restful listen for early mornings!!

I agree @Wood79 I don't listen to overnights very much but when I do I quite like Dotun - but the phone number repetiton is torture, it really does prompt me to turn off! It's almost as if he doesn't even know he's doing it, like a tic.

It does make me want to turn off too and it's a shame because get past that and the bit of bellowing about and singing and he actually seems a likeable guy...That's exactly what it is like a nervous tic..To be fair I would be nervous night after night wondering if anyone would ring in!
