Guys, I had to switch over from Radio 2 at 7pm as Steve Wright was doing my head in. He sounds like someone's dad who was roped in at last minute to DJ a misguided 18th birthday party.

Back I went to 6 music and it was nae bad for the hour I had to do chores 👍

I was quite sad when Steve Wright lost his afternoon show, but even sadder when Ken Bruce left.
Steve always seems a bit lost doing other types of shows, Sunday Love Songs being the exception.
Wright is now getting Pick of The Pops on a Saturday, replacing Gambaccini, which is a joke imo.

I wonder if R2 are regretting moving Steve Wright. They did that and then Ken went and left. They probably weren't expecting both to go. Also they seem to be trying to 'fit' Steve in somewhere. It's all a bit odd. Steve should have told them were to go tbh.

I have nothing against Scott Mills but he is very boring.I've always been surprised he's got as far as he has.

Agree. I don't know HOW Scott Mills got the slot. His listeners who call in are boring too. :LOL:

I can’t stand either of them! - so I feel conflicted about that news re Pick of the Pops. I wish also that Radio 2 would not disclose the year, be much more fun to guess.

arielle was the best female dj they had by a mile. her behaviour was inappropriate but i can’t see it’s worth being sacked for.

It's hard to listen to the afternoon pair for too long. Then they randomly play songs from 2012 for half an hour and call it 'bangers' or something? Just feels lazy!
Makes you realise how good Scott and Chris were in this timeslot!
 
Vernon Kay is growing on me, I listened to home during a long drive last Friday, and again on the way back today. I still wish we had Ken, but now he has had time to settle in, I think Vernon sounds fine.

I heard most of Vine as well, I don't really rate him anymore, he talks over guests and asks a lot of stupid questions, or says things that make it clear that he didn't listen to what his guest said. Imo he really started to go downhill around the time his show started on 5. I don't know if it is an ego thing, or if he is bored of discussing the 'issue of the day' for a second time.

Anyhow, I enjoyed today's show more than any of his I have heard for ages. For those that did not listen, it was broadcast from Leicester and dedicated a lot of time to talking to normal people from Leicester, and discussing the culture and achievements of the town. It was interesting without being to heavy. It made me wish that they could do this sort of thing more often, travel to different towns and cities, and focus on local people/issues.
