His "mental health" did not stop him from earning half a million quid last year or getting all the kudos from the royals news in the last 12 monthsthis year but the minute its negative news about him where he can be blamed .. IT ALL KICKS IN... aye right

Positive things in life generally don't make you depressed and suffer from mental illness though do they? Your logic is flawed.

He has well documented mental health issues going back literally decades.

I mean it’s not too much of a stretch to see how what’s gone off in the last few days could have exacerbated things.

Huw Edwards: Depression left me bedridden, says BBC presenter https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-61553142

Tbh I'm not arsed on the sexuality of Huw Edwards. I'm done making excuses for creepy rich old white men.

100%

I'm gay. I'm not homophobic. I'm also not here to prop up some wokety woke agenda that 'intergenerational love' is fkn normal.

The white western capitalist patriarchy dominant power base abusers - rich white western men - have been picking off women, children, the poor, and minority groups for their own entertainment and pleasure for too long.

I'm not here to feel sorry for poor Huwey Wuwey and his ickle fragile mental helf. He's been held to accounts bang to rights. Who knows if he's a nasty pedalo abusing twit or just fond of abusing the power dynamic between his age and wealth and a young vulnerable person. I don't care to be honest with the exception that if he's been doing criminal stuff, he is held to account. Who gives a carp what's happened to him... ONE DOWN, I say.

This is the crux of it for me. It's none of our businesses. If it was a criminal act, that's the police's job to deal with. If he needs to lose his job, that's on the BBC. Noone in the public needs to know about any of this, his name should never have gotten out there. It is indeed possible for people to face the consequences of their actions without needing public vitriol on a life ruining scale.

ok but Huw isn’t a private Joe bloggs individual is he? Hes a known, respected public figure. He leads the news on the most watched news channel in the U.K.

surely the public has a right to know that he has zero integrity left and can’t be trusted to report on serious issues such as elections, political scandals etc when he’s been beaming the law (lockdown rules) and exploiting drug addicted individuals?

Exactly. It may be a bit icky and obviously his family will also be under immense stress because of it but it’s not in the public interest and never should have been reported.

You must be so fun to be around.

no one is demanding he be dragged to court and jailed for the rest of his life.

but he lied and exploited a vulnerable person and that is *absolutely* grounds for him loosing a career in the public eye.

IMO, people who abuse their positions of trust/power in the public eye should absolutely be held to a high standard. That doesn’t meant I think they should necessarily be imprisoned.

Did he exploit a vulnerable person? We don't know the facts to say for certain but using the same logic hasn't the person exploited a vulnerable person in Huw to get money from them? Who is exploiting who here? Is an OF model being exploited by the people that pay for their content or is the OF model exploiting the potentially vulnerable people that are buying it?

I'm beginning to think being a bit pervy is a prerequisite for working on the telly.
Sex and drugs definitely fuel the machine. Not sure about the rock n roll bit.

You see, this is where I struggle with the “repressed sexuality” portrayal of Huw. The BBC especially is very DEI and has been for years. Many honchos and execs in the journalism and tv industry are gay. Huw may not have needed to announce his preferences, after all it’s no one’s business, and he would’ve undoubtedly been in company and accepted as a gay man in work.

Even the argument that it’s the public that would’ve had issue with him being gay is hollow - we’re rainbowed out every single day and in this day and age there are many gay public figures. Many people are surprised that he has a wife.

There is no need to go twinking on the sly.
