Actually Honest - skincare and makeup reviews #4

But in food settings blue plasters are used for hand cuts, yellow stars are noticeable too which is the point of blue plasters.

Hospitality industry is horrible. We were told to buy £20+ specific makeup products when our minimum wage salary was £5.50, and staff can legally be fined out of their salary for not looking ‘presentable’ enough. Can. Not. Win.
I won’t disagree that the industry is awful but the point of blue plasters is that there are very few, if any, blue foods so they stand out. And they’re needed.. pimple dots aren’t. I would say yellow starts aren’t than noticeable and most pimple plasters are clear circles, they’re designed to be unnoticeable.

I’m not defending the hostility industry.
I remember the days of £5.50 rates and being expected to buy our own clothes and shoes to show front of house in a certain way but this is a different argument. Simply to be cautious that spot plasters aren’t that sticky.

Has anyone tried this thing of dyeing your eyebrows with Just for Men? I did it for the first time tonight and I actually have eyebrows without using pencil! Would recommend.

yeah I use just for men on my brows, it’s the best but stains my skin so easy so need to make sure the shape is perfect asap 🤣

Another huge vote for the Revolution dupe of Charlotte Tilbury. The Miracle cream. I actually forked out for the CT one last summer (pressure from the sales assistant as well as hearing good things generally) and it was fine but I couldn’t justify the price to repurchase.

Tried the Revolution one which is 10% of the price of CT and it is genuinely amazing. I’m on my second jar of it. Got the bigger size jar now which works out even cheaper

Do you mind sharing how you do this? I really need to stop getting my eyebrows professionally tinted every 2 mins. It’s such an added expense (with very little pay off as it fades so quick) so I would love to try do it myself

I used to get my eyebrows professionally done but it got to the point where I couldn’t be bothered to go and get them done!

my routine now is:
1.Brush your brows upwards and cut the long hairs that stick up when you do this.

2. for the actual removal I use an eyebrow pen (I can’t remember the brand, but you can get it from boots and Amazon. I got mine on offer). Since using this, I’d never go back to threading or waxing. You have so much more control and are less likely to to take hairs off by accident.

3. If there’s sparse or stubborn hairs, I’ll use tweezers to remove them.

4. I use a swapzcof (sorry I don’t know how to spell the brand!) brow tint, I’ll leave it on for about 15/20 mins and it’s amazing at getting every hair, lasts for a ridiculous amount of time and doesn’t stain your skin. I remove mine with a baby wipe.

Not even kidding, since I’ve started doing my brows this way I can get away with going 2 months without doing my brows. If anything it’s my hair that needs dying more regularly than my brows!

so glad to of found this page, I’m a make up and skincare junkie. My boyfriend is always saying “for someone who doesn’t go out much, your make up collection is ridiculous” and I agree, it is but when I do go out it gives me so much joy to pick my favourites out, try new things and just have different things to use!

I’m going to the Stratford Sephora on Friday, and my new skincare obsession is laniege. If anyone is wanting to try any of their skincare products, there’s a little sample set for around £20 and I still have a decent amount of the face cream left, but I want to get the full size version. I suffer terribly with dry skin, especially in the winter. And when I put the cream and overnight treatment on, I can almost feel my pores soaking it all in!

What’s an eyebrow pen?

this is what it is, it really does help with shaping your brows and giving you more control

The Laneige overnight lip mask is very expensive but AMAZING and long lasting too

I got a Laneige kit when I was in Canada. Think it had the Water Bank Cream and the Sleeping Mask in it, absolutely gorgeous products.

I can recommend the Currentbody LED mask
I was just looking at this last week and wondering whether it’s worth it. If so, is it worth getting the Series 2 one with the hydrogel face mask & serum at £455?

Second question (apologies, brand new to this thread!), is the Ziip Halo worth it and if I was to choose one or other, does anyone have any advice?

Thanks. I certainly don’t trust any influencers and would much rather ask on Tattle.

I don’t think I would spend £455 but then I don’t have the series 2. Does it do something fancy?
I bought mine in a bundle of stuff a few years ago and paid roughly £285 for everything, it was an offer.
I do think the mask made my skin look better. But I’m lazy for using it because for those 20min I can’t do anything but lie there. I’m somebody that needs a lot of stimulation. Which on a separate note is probably why I get overstimulated and then react like a toddler

With the Just For Men stuff I just brushed my brows through once, put some Vaseline round the outside and then used the kit. Put a fair amount on my brows and left it for 5 mins. Walked back into the bathroom to find I looked like I’d been attacked by a permanent marker but I just washed my brow area a few times and voila, perfect.

Yes! That’s the one I got, my boyfriend recently got me the sleeping mask for my birthday. For the price the tub is quite big, and a little does go a long way! I’m unsure on the toner though

The Laneige Lip Treatment Balm is another fantastic product. Thicker than the lip mask as I wake up in the morning and still feel it, but also a great lip balm for the day. The stick is stupid and unhygienic, but the pot will last a loooong time.

I'm another fan of the revolution miracle cream. It has a lovely texture that I can't accurately describe. Not greasy, but rich, not silicone-y but goes on smoothly. It plays so well with make up. It's my favourite moisturiser for make up days

I’ve bought the revolution miracle cream along with the balm in the sale. Let’s see if it can help my old hag skin. 😅 The CT was not a hit for me, so I hope this will be a good surprise.
