She never had it in the first place, and after enough people pointed out she only used it when it suited her and to gain positive attention, she ditched it and said it was cured as part of her re-branding.

It's infuriating she's profited from it a billion times, and now she's making out she` found a cure` she's staying tight lipped about it, that's what kids and people with the condition are seeing without realising the bigger picture.

She's an evil lil biach, not just for pulling this stunt but for all the ones before it. Her steady downfall is sweet!

I think it's pretty clear she had and still has quite severe anxiety and has created a bubble for herself which means it feels like her anxiety isn't really there anymore. She is avoidant (I can relate) and that makes her feel safe and the problems seem to disappear but actually they'll come back even worse when something happens that she can't control, especially if one day she doesn't have the money to avoid all the things she avoids now. I never understand why people find it hard to believe she has anxiety. It's hugely widespread in Western society and becoming a real health crisis - it's not very likely that she's lying about it, especially considering her lifestyle.

Why do you not believe that they have anxiety?
Because the huge percentage of school girls that now claim to have life debilitating anxiety.

Im not for a second saying it doesn't exist, it does but all these people with stress / nerves really are unhelpful to people with actual anxiety.

Zoella sends across a message that makes people think perfectly normal situations where most people are anxious is a medical condition. It's indulging in a way that I don't think is helpful to anyone and makes people less likley to beleive someone who actually has a MH issue that does hugely affect their life.

I don't think the problem is Zoe causing a higher number of people to claim they have anxiety, as it could simply be most wouldn't have previously admitted having it.

I think the problem is Zoe normalizing anxiety as an excuse to get out of doing things. There are many things in life that people may feel anxious doing -- Zoe's message is "it's ok to throw up you hands, say you have anxiety, and refuse to do it", which is not helpful. If she's found methods for coping, she should share them with her viewers, since she views herself as such an "advocate" for mental health issues and awareness.

It's not really up to you to decide that people's mental health issues aren't real. We are living in a disturbingly dangerous and depressing and unhealthy world with masses of loneliness, disconnection, lack of meaning, stress of work and academic life... It is to be expected that MOST people struggle with that and it affects us.

I don't disagree with that. Although i think normalising it does make more people think they are suffering from serious mental health issues and use it as an excuse to, as you say, just give up. I've got a friend that's a school teacher and she's seen a huge rise in ten years. Is that zoella or social media?

Whether she has anxiety or not, she often given praise by people but I think she's done more harm than good. Raising awareness about the issue of anxiety but never going into anything to actually posativity help anyone.

She could do something useful other than just sell bubble bath and perfume, but she doesn't. She doesn't genuinely want to help anyone, claiming anxiety is a very convenient excuse to never answer to her actions and a good marketing tool.

Mental health issues are huge, I'm sure all of us suffer from something at some point in our life. But just saying Zoella isn't helpful when she's been so often praised in the media for the work she's done. I see her being a negative influence just trying to sell bubble bath.

I agree with you; I get frustrated that she has such a shallow image and either isn't aware of much or doesn't care about using her voice for good.

I think it's less helpful to minimise an obvious mental health crisis and imply disbelief that so many young people are finding things extremely hard. To me it's very believable. If I can see a silver lining to having such an unhappy society, it's that hopefully it'll lead to some sort of revolution and a big shift in our priorities and how we manage our lives! So children and teenagers SHOULD make a fuss; it's their future and they aren't obligated to live in the crappy world previous generations have created and tolerated. (Election speech over).

I think we are on the the same page, I agree with you. Although I think zoellas fans are mostly too young to actually realise how tit it is out there for the younger generation with jobs, houses, pensions, tuition fees and all that jazz.

I'm all for social revolution and this is going way off topic. But it will happen eventually. Mental health and crime are both increasing rapidly most probably due to how tit it is out there. Then you have Tories (like Alfie and Zoe ;) ha back on topic) just saying young people are too lazy to work and that's the reason they don't have a pension or can't afford a house. You've got my vote!

Just wanna say, how exciting is it that we aren't going to banned and spoken to like naughty schoolchildren for having this conversation?
Love it! GG seems to only like brainless conversations on boobs. Mental health does pop up now and again for zoella as she's used it for her brand.

I know most don't care, that's fine and it blows over quickly but it is on topic for zoella imho and it's nice to discuss wider issues that stem from particular YouTube influencers.

Sorry 3rd post but today's instastory is about loving Mondays, you can duck right off zoella. Of course you love Mondays if it's the summer and you can just go off walking your dog while your assistants and social media managers do work.View attachment 55 q

she's so basic it hurts.

we were all complaining about her watching elf from September to april, just wait until she's got her film out. It'll be the background 24/7 and an omnipresent reminder of her ego.
Overall, I'd be embarrassed if I were her.

Exactly! You can tell shes surrounded by yes people and no one to reign her in. Its embarrassing to be an adult and not know how tone death and out of touch you are. Every day she alienates her dwindling followers more and more. Her fame is on borrowed time with her attitude and contempt for the audience.

Hope the girl online film does get made, and it flops just as much as the calendar.

Gosh I hate this. She only likes Mondays because they are no different from every other day of minimal "work" (bringing a cake she didn't bake to an office of employees who do her job for her). If I had a cushy "job" like her, maybe I'd like Mondays too. Until then, it's just another day on the grind!
