Can't exactly blame the parents for not forcing him to clean a BBQ pit... the daughter-in-law (or she wish to be) is 1/2 of the couple and they're both as lazy!
My father would wipe the floor with me in the same situation, doesn't matter how old I get
Especially if I had this awesome new bbq I'd left dirty and stagnate all winter, then refused to clean it. And i was ringing him to bring his mini & some disposal 5 pound ones to a bbq he'd be attending. He'd give me an earful! He'd literally tell me to clean it there and then, and if I was doubting he'd start it off in no uncertain terms and let me finish
There ain't no getting away with anything with my father lol! My grandparents and parents always made big issues about not taking care of stuff, even if it was just a cheap little plastic paint set. I'd have to carefully wipe the plastic of any colour before putting it away. As a result, I do take care of everything, no matter how small, and when I see alfie and zoe treating their stuff with such disdain, I'm stunned their families don't step in. As little kids they would have done it, and now as adults they are still doing it.
Their parents are useless to the extreme. it's why tents live forever outside, tons of other items are thrown by the wayside, forgotten about, left to stagnate. They just don't care or value any of it. I'm pretty sure the Guinea pig was tossed on the 'left to stagnate' pile too, poor thing.
You're right though about them employing a cleaner, who was it who said Zoe has someone who cleans the house and changes the beds? Either way, she cared so little about that gifted top of the range bbq from Jamie Oliver she couldn't be bothered to ask someone else to clean it. That's how bad they are.
I think part of the problem is they receive everything free. They didn't work to pay for it, so they don't respect items that cost hundreds if not thousands of pounds. They've never been taught to and it certainly doesn't come naturally. I remember someone saying the cleaner was told to throw all the xmas ornaments into black bags and dump them, as they'd be receiving new ones the next year from other companies again.
