Infuriatingly, she probably knows this supposed film deal for her book will earn her millions so she's not trying. Which just makes me angry because it's just another example of how the witch can earn a living from doing naff all.

I also prefered the makeover video. I think she really has an eye for some interior stuff. Of course she also got a lot of money to create something out of her home which others don't have and it doesn't show in the appearance of her beauty products, but nonetheless I think she can have a good pick and style regarding interior and colours.
Maybe she could do/style/brand a little airbnb, hostel/bed and breakfast thing in Brighton? I'm from Germany and I know a lot of people who are visiting Brighton for a vacation trip because they know the city thourgh Youtube and a lot of Zoes Fans would like to sleep in an apartment or room that Zoe had styled and eat a breakfast she had chosen. She could film it like this thing what Alfie tried in redesigning a house

I doubt the film will do well, if it does shouldn't the writers get the money.

It might be one of the film's that they make badly on purpose as a tax write off

I think it's not necessary about who wrote it but more about who has the rights to Girl Online. And I think it's Zoe and her management. For a film there are new writers who will transfer the content of the book to a script/screenplay
 
she'll be so proud of herself,that a story in her head since <what age did she say> materialised into a film
but all she did was to have an idea.
I have many ideas too! lol
 
Exactly! It's like having a vision of a painting you want to paint. Of course I can have the idea and the vision to paint the Mona Lisa or Monets Waterlilys but the WORK is DOING it. Writing is - as well as painting - a craft. All the work is in the writing itself and delivering images, motives, character studies, dialogues and details. It is NOT in just having an idea like "I'd like it to be a modern and very romantic story about a girl with a blog thihihi"
 
^^ exactly, she doesn't know just how lucky she is and doesn't appreciate how easy she has had it. Like when she was telling viewers about how to get a book published, and she had to pitch to a publisher and that was a book deal fixed.

Could it get messy if the ghostwriters bought in legal action for being taken advantage of or something?

No one knew the book would be this huge seller it was, the movie could be a final snap if the writers felt it was unfair
 
weren't the YTbers all releasing books, so Gleam probably went to Zella and said, "what book may you be interested to publish?"

Bet Gleam or whoever emailed a ton of publishers and set it up for her. They all probably read her draft and pitched a ghostwriter to her. Everything handed to her on a silver platter but she had to pitch to ONE publisher and it was so stressful.
 
Even though she was mainly just bitching in her last vlog, I weirdly liked her just being more...normal. Like I still think she needs to WAKE UP and stop blaming everyone else for her declining channel / business, but her just chatting and not being fake positive almost reminded me of her videos back in the day -- back when I first started watching and enjoyed her.

Also, call me paranoid, but when she started mentioning that TV show in the office for no reason, I was definitely like "ok, ad." Same with the jellybeans (didn't they do a sponsored jellybean vid back in the day?). It's literally to the point that I can't even trust Zoe to mention a single item or brand in passing without me assuming that it's all a fake, sneaky sponsorship. Wtf.

Which I guess brings me back to the first point I made in this post: I miss when her videos seemed CASUAL and REAL and not COMPLETELY CALCULATED. We like YouTubers because we feel a connection with them. I want to be able to watch a Zoella video and just enjoy it, not feel like I'm just being shilled tit in sneaky, manipulative ways.

Bring that kinda Zoe back, with some more adult content, and I think I could really enjoy her again.
 
From her Instastories, she's only just sold out the signed versions of the book. So that's taken months and loads of swipe ups even thought there will only be 10-15k signed copies based on previous books.

She's not infuencial and terrible value for any brands with that kind of poor conversion of her 10m+ followers.

True! Although all three of his books are still shifting between 3-10 copies a day on Amazon UK (around 20'000 in sales ranks). That's way way more than Jim is selling a day

I totally agree. I think her feeling like she can’t be her authentic self is partially her own doing. She could have easily transitioned into more of an adult channel where she could share her opinions on topics and be her authentic self, but she chose to (or maybe management made her) stifle herself and be “child friendly”. There was only a matter of time before either her viewers were going to outgrow her or she was going to outgrow them. Being in your late twenties and trying to be relatable to tweens is not easy.

I wish Zoe would have done more adult friendly videos. Seeing the behind the scenes of her product lines was really interesting. Showing how she built her house and decorated it (or had an interior decorator furnish it) would have been a great video series.
