West End Gossip #3

Performance of Oliver cancelled because... they aren't ready.

I know it's incredibly hard work to put on a show but come on. I swear this kind of thing did not happen pre-Covid? All these show stops and cancelled performances funnily enough seem to coincide with people like CamMac firing a load of staff.

I feel bad for anyone who was going to that show, it's a pain to rearrange and in some cases people can't.

I feel like Hadestown might be on struggle street to be resorting to this. I really didn’t enjoy it and I’m not hearing anything about it despite moving in quite stagey circles, whereas I am hearing a lot of buzz about Benjamin Button as one example. I think it goes to show that a pretty poor show can clean up at the Tony’s if nothing incredible has come out within the time frame, and new shows just haven’t had the same investment in recent years as revivals, because nobody can afford to take the risk

It’s so they can film it for Netflix. It was supposed to be filmed just before Covid.

Four of the Broadway cast coming over to do the West End run. I do want to see Hadestown just haven't got done to London to see it yet saw Eva in the Miss Saigon revival and she was amazing.
Thank you. I admit like Six I really don't get how Hadestown is raved over. But then again I find Greek myth themes a turn off in general

UGH i keep getting excited about Great Comet and then i remember Jamie Muscato is in it.. the man with zero personality and even less chemistry with his love interests in my experience... not me fist pumping every single time Valentine murdered him in Lazarus.. though I did find it amusing when I was sitting next to Zelda Perkins and she was mildly amused by my cheering on a serial killer..

Can't find any availability for any of the original cast dates! Tried to log in at 12 but after an hour in the queue I had to go out and by the time I got in it looks like there's nothing left - hoping they've kept some seats back for general sale.

Oh no!!

Heh. Do the current cast not get proper fecked off at being kicked aside for the "Broadway Originals" coming in for a few weeks! Or do they have a nice few weeks off and still get paid? Or have they timed this to be when the London cast was due to change again anyway?

I was very happy with the London cast I saw in August or whenever it was just before the last big change, and I'll be very happy with the current London cast that I will see in mid January, booked before this was announced.

They’ve posted now that it’s fully sold out for those dates. That’s crazy.

Probably because the dates were all well sold through normal channels before they announced any of this and had been on sale for ages. So whatever tickets they have sold today can only have been bits and bobs here and there around the theatre, not the whole place?

I was in the queue for about an hour and a half and there was still lots of availability when I got in. They’d definitely taken a lot of the tickets off sale before they put the dates behind the presale wall yesterday - a lot more tickets available in the presale compared to the availiability first thing yesterday morning.

For the dates I looked at (beginning of March) there was plenty of availability in all price bands bar £20
