Travel Vloggers and VanLifers

1
I feel like a lot of the Kinging it problems stemmed from them being close friends and in competition with Kara and Nate and Eamon and Bec. Those couples are all about fitness and physical challenges and constant clickbait adventures and Greg might have felt that in order to close the gap in views, they too should create that kind of content. But Aimee is overwhelmed by everything in life and doesn't enjoy exercise or risky adventures and as stupid as it sounds, the attractiveness of the travel couples also plays a role in their success.
Having said that, I feel like they've come to an agreement behind the scenes that they're both happy with. They seem much more relaxed and confident about their content these days and I actually enjoy their slow pace of traveling where they spend a few months in each country and take their time.

Absolutely agree with all of this. They also have a very regional Welsh/British sense of humour so that probably hasn't helped them growing, especially with Americans watching.

I don't understand why they suddenly want to buy property/land in Portugal. Seems to be a bit of a bandwagon on this now, expawers were on about it (not sure I spelt their channel right), indie projects did it years ago. Also seen a number of "lifestyle" rather than travel Insta types now go on about doing this, move abroad etc
If they are self confessed travellers, going to be doing travel despite baby etc why do they want to be tied to something which will need a regular presence to maintain. How will that work when their child (or children) reach school age, and in the post Brexit climate? It made no sense at all and more like something lept on for content.

they probably saw Lost in Transit looking to buy property as another stream of content. Or they have realized that they won't be able to handle the travel with a new born and need to find a place to settle but also have channel content like renovations to a new property.

Speaking of Lost in Transit, WTF was that new vlog. They disappear for a month with no update anywhere and then she comes back with that video that feels like a manic episode, cutting out window covers for 20 minutes and then sleeping in the car while rambling on nonsensically for quick sponsorship money.
So she got a job as an errant girl in a hotel but how about you explain Tom's absence, what's going to happen to the channel and the van.

I don't remember the details but I thought they mentioned that in one of their videos before they disappeared.
Did she really get a job? maybe that's probably to start saving money to pay for the property they were looking at.

She got herself a car and a job and said they decided against buying the property. She obviously moved back in with her parents in Cornwall.
The last video where they were driving back to the UK already was just her talking to the camera and Tom not saying a word and now he was completely absent again and no word on what he's up to.

interesting. I didn't catch that but then again, a lot of the youtube watching I do is in the background.

Not watched the vlog but saw the thumbnail that Eamon and Bec are expecting now. Lovely for them after all the health issues they've had. Seems like all these van lifers are hitting that stage of life where they are all getting married and/or having kids. Wonder what this means for their channels future?

Really pleased for Eamon and Bec. I met them randomly at Vegfest in London where I think they were just attending as punters. I had only just started watching their channel but they were lovely, we had a nice chat and I still remember the warm genuine hug Bec gave me. I am so happy for their news after all they have been though recently.

I'm pleased for Bec too, such a nice surprise.

Even though vanlife has been around for years and years, decades even....its only become trendy in the last few years. If it wasn't for the pandemic most of these travel bloggers wouldn't be where they are now. Most of us binge watched their videos when we couldn't travel during lockdowns. Subscribed to their channels and watched video after video. Now we are a number of years on, there are only so many Europe videos we can watch and those who don't leave their comfort zones of Europe are going to be left behind very soon if they don't change their content by exploring other countries outside of Europe.

The only regular vanlife channel I really watch now is Overlanding Sophia. Mainly because I want to do what they are doing....plus the stunning scenery.

I loved Courts & Meeks Tunisa series, but not sure if I will watch then again if they come back to YouTube with their new motorhome.

Don't get me wrong, a rainy afternoon and I need something to watch, I will watch most vanlifers to see what they are up to but right now, it ain't happening! Content needs to be outstanding these days to keep me hooked.

I was just wondering what happened to Courts and Meeks, they just disappeared!
So they've got a new van, what happened to the orange one?

I tend to watch Christian Schaffer on those days. The cinematic value she adds to her videos makes it a win for me.

Ooh will have to have a search - thankyou

I believe they sold it. They've not really said why or what they will be doing, unless I've missed an announcement somewhere!

Yes, agree it either needs to be something out of the ordinary or fresh destinations to keep the views up. The likes of Norway and Spain/Portugal done to death.
Would love to see some of the further reaches of Europe, Georgia, Slovenia, parts of Poland and lots of eastern edges of Europe.
I've got into long distance backpack or run packing trips on YouTube more than vanlife. So not necessarily far flung little travelled places but more not taking the easy option and making it a bit of a challenge (i.e wild camping, bivvy bagging, few hostel or hotel nights).

funny enough, came across a channel recently that does wild camping. I haven't seen many of her videos but check out WildBeare

I've just started watching the roaming Radford's and I'm just not sure about them.i feel sorry for their kids, one video she was happily chatting away but over her shoulder you could see one of their children who looked bored to tears, in fact apart from the youngest one the other two so obviously don't want to be part of it. as someone with grown up kids I know they get to an age when they just don't want to spend their holidays with you which had obviously anyway happened here.

We have a motorhome and lots of the stuff they talk about is so obvious. I presume they got a good discount on theirs she to the Bennett of followers they have.

I’m convinced they’re both swingers, with the shots of her arse in the right leggings every time she’s bent over and the boobs in your face, they’re a defo something strange about them, plus it’s all brag brag brag 🥱

Oh gawd don't put that swingers thought in my head🤣
Def something odd about them though. Agree, constant brag, older kids don't want to be filmed (they have mentioned this). Youngest is a chip of his dad's block so likes to show off.
I watched their road trip to Croatia last year as they do go the road less travelled by the rest of the van life pack. But got so pissed off it was always her doing the laundry, the cooking and then having to log on to work do payroll etc. It's her holiday too and I believe it was work for their family business yet he sat there the lazy lump while she did everything. Kids didn't seem to help much either.

I dont like them either (Roaming Radfords). They try to be 'down with the vanlifers' when really they are motorhome snobs. BUT - I must admit, I was at vanlife festival 2022 and they were lovely to my little boy and in person, came across a really nice family. - Just on screen I cant stand them! Funny how you can have two opinions of them. I do prefer the real life opinion than the on screen one thankfully.

Don’t like them or John & Mandy! Just pretentious all of them and J&M are just pretending to be in a relationship together to get views, as when they split up their numbers dropped! It’s all babe this, babe that, babe, babe babe babe!!! 🤢🤮

I've long given up hope that a van lifer I follow will ever do Eastern Europe or explore the African continent beyond Morocco.
I've started to watch hiking channels like Liam Brown and Abbie Barnes (I like the hikes and trails she does but she grosses me out so much as she wears the same clothes and even underwear for 10+ days without washing and no showers). I'm also watching these 2 hour films on YouTube where someone bikes around the world over the span of 1-2 years but these are obviously just one off content and not weekly.
