Travel Vloggers and VanLifers

1
Kara and Nate back on Vanlife i see.. also anyone else genuinely worried about the Travel Beans and the lack of security they are providing their child with?? Seems like they have another whim of buying a property in Portugal and still wanting to travel... They need to just get a place in the UK for at least a yr,some therapy and a dose of realism and just work out who they are and what they want to do in life.. it's just looking like celebrity kids that just drift their way through lives trying something new every 5 mins.. they can;t do that anymore. They have a child and that brings responsibilities

Been testing the SponsorBlock for YouTube browser extension for a bit and it's honestly life changing. Depends on Youtubers following the guidelines and marking the sponsorship segments, obviously, but most actually do and I'm so glad I'll never have to see Louise shake that yfood bottle ever again or have Kara and Nate sell me AG1 every week. You can even enable it to cut out self-promotion like merch or whatever else they're trying to shill.

But back to the thread topic, Kinging it announced that they won't do any traveling until spring next year and it'll be house hunting and renovations until then.
Really sceptical how that will work out for them. Greg is obviously quite handy but Aimee is completely useless in that regard. Whenever Custard needs anything to get done, she doesn't do tit. How will she contribute to a big renovation project? Not looking forward to it.

Haven't kept up with the travel beans because their content has become so boring and all over the place. Not interested in them property hunting too and becoming a renovation and family vlog channel.

I'm not interested in any former van lifers moving over to house content! Got enough DIY of my own to do, not really relaxing watching someone else stress over theirs.
Travel beans, feel for them as they are a nice couple, but yeah, I can't be bothered to watch a vlog about moving to Portugal, or even USA content really.

AG1 is the worst, at least Y food isn't extortionate. AG1 is something like £90! It's only vitamin supplement with a fancy shaker at the end of the day. They all want to plug AG1 as I understand you get a kick back as long as someone who uses your code keeps subscribing so the payouts can go on a while. I think it's so disingenuous as none of them would pay for it themselves. Whilst I can imagine Louise drinking Y Food as she is one of those who obtain no joy from food.
Not to see another Jackery plug would be joy though!

I think the reason why I hate Louise shilling yfood as much as all the AG1 pricks, is that it's still dishonest to the core.
One bottle costs 4 Euro here, that's the price of a Döner kebap, a portion of fries, a big sandwich or a small pizza. So for her to pretend that her and Emily are starting their day with a protein shake worth 8 Euro is just laughable. We've seen Emily shop a hundred times and not once did she pick up a bottle because there's no way they would pay hundreds of pounds for it every month themselves. I wouldn't be surprised if they just kept one empty bottle around for the sponsorships that they fill with water.

At the end of the day, everything Youtubers promote is extremely expensive and they're just doing their job, obviously, but it makes me never want to buy any of the products they flock.

It's like the vpn companies they promote, really expensive and wanting you to sign up for two years.
There are cheaper ones and some even free if you search.
Speaking of, if you want one of the expensive ones like surfshark or NordVpn, have a look at ebay. I got 25 months of surfshark for 20 Euro there. Since they offer unlimited devices per account, people who got the 2 year subscription basically offer you access to that account for a small price. The best decision I ever made.

Yep, Surfshark have usually got an 85% discount if you just go through Quidco, no need to use someone else's referral code. I think NordVPN is similar on there too.

I don't mind vanlifers promoting things like Jackery as they at least would realistically use something like that (like the car channels all promoting Carli OBD code readers), but you see some of them promoting various power banks and you think "how many of those have you got?". Not sure if they have to send them back after they've reviewed them?

I know travel trolls sell them, not sure about others, some kindly gift them on to other van lifers, (the American guy, Chrome is he called?) He certainly gifts them to less fortunate travellers.

I don't mind as much for travelers to try to sell a VPN service. At least they are talking about it and making it known that people really should be using one, especially when travelling

I've considered trying some of the popular ones that are getting pushed but Youtubers but ended up having a talk with my IT guy at work and was suggested to use Mullvad or Proton

Honestly, Kinging-It and Travel Beans are teetering on the edge of obnoxiousness. They both make me uneasy watching them now.

Not only that, but Lou’s touting yfood and probably eating breakfast as opposed to a yfood bottle breakfast and NOT (Lisa) is now advertising the same yfoods but going off for a spoons breakfast!!! lol 😂 so when they aren’t practicing what they preach, I’m not being bought into it!!

just see Steve & Lynds recent vlog on going their separate ways, screams adventuring Mandy & gadget John! 🙄 attention seeking

Just watching By The

Bloody hell... I haven't watched their last couple of vlogs yet, FFS, that will be hilarious. I'm guessing Mark isn't going anywhere near it since it isn't chicken fried rice 😂

Agree. Used to love Kinging It - but think they’re massively losing touch with reality. They want their channel to be up there with their mates K&N and E&B but it just doesn’t grow like that for them. So now they want to do a renovation series - most likely because they know renovation series get big views on YT.

Pretty worried to see how the next few months unfold. They are having mental health issues (again), relationship stress (again), feeling burnt out (again) and exhausted and now they want to do a renovation series? Don’t think they realise the stress a house renovation puts on you at the best of times. It’s going to be cold, wet and rainy with little daylight in remote Scotland with next to no amenities. In Custard who’s going to need gas, water topping up etc. It’s physically and mentally exhausting as it is before anything goes wrong (which it will, it’s a renovation) and they want to film on top of this and are starting out already tired and exhausted.

I just get the feeling they are getting desperate with their channel, feel entitled to more subs and that’s why they get so burnt out and stressed every two minutes. They used to feel so fun and authentic - a mad couple just living life who you’d want to hang out with but I don’t get those vibes from them at all now.

They don't seem to plan much for their future either. The other couples you mentioned started businesses at their peak that will earn them an income once the youtube bubble bursts but Kinging it are going through money like it'll always be earned as easily as right now. I think they said their budget for the new house is 500k. On top of that, they bought a new car the size of a cruise ship, plus the car they bought in South Africa that they are now importing to the UK and Custard constantly needs fixing too. They must be extremely confident that becoming a reno channel will make their views explode because they have nothing to fall back on if it doesn't.
And how will they deal with the loneliness that comes with living so remote, that you've only got each other. No neighbors, no family or friends around and it's not given that they'll find a local community that will just embrace them.

Since someone mentioned John and Mandy above, how much longer are they going to pretend to still be together? It's so uncomfortable and depressing to watch and it basically ended their YouTube career anyway, they both can't make a living with the low numbers on their individual channels, so why are they doing this to themselves.

Budget of £500k?! I must have missed that 😳 Also, judging by their IG stories I was also way off the mark as to what kind of renovation they were doing and I’m even more disappointed. Thought they’d be doing up an old barn or a ruin somewhere but no, looks like they’re going more for a Homes Under the Hammer decoration project 🙄

I expected them to buy a big property but a much more modest home. Like a bigger cabin of sorts or a barn like you said. But they seem to want quite the mansion.

These are the ones they considered, for those who aren't following them:

I'm wondering how Kinging-It have suddenly got this much money. Have they been doing a lot of ads? Apparently Amie spends a fortune on wigs and other crap. Also, is it really a good idea for them to be buying a house? I think they're more best friends than an actual couple at this point.
