Travel Vloggers and VanLifers

I thought that too at first but unless they’ve won the lottery, buying decent land in England is beyond the means of most people. Ireland or Scotland is where they’d be going if that were the case. So I can’t imagine what else it would be. It’s a shame because I can’t stand narrow boating so won’t be following them if that is the case. Enjoying Itchy Boots, Overlanding Sophia, Next Meridian, some hiking and bike packing vlogs that are real people having real adventures. Really over the melodrama that has become UK van life. What a difference to what it was like 4 years ago.

The Travel Beans schlepping their infant son into record heat is an unfortunate turn of events. Yet, instead of planning ahead and making sure they can secure camp sites with at least electrical hookups to run the A/C overnight they suddenly realize that all the camp sites are booked up so they are forced to boondock had me a tad upset. Then they have an older rig and are surprised that some of the seals for the windows are skylight are leaking is just lazy. It's something RVers have to do or have some check every year. Again, you have a kid now get with it. Al wondering off to the Al Green concert was odd. I would love to see Rev. Green perform, but he barely seemed to know who he was and he confessed he is not even a live music guy. Next, he'll suddenly take up golf to get a break from his wife and kid while they travel together.

The Bean are not the worst. I still like them, but the more I see them try to carry on with their channel with a newborn continuously strikes me the wrong way.

yeah I agree. I do love the travel beans but it seems their priorities are a bit all over the place at the minute. Like looking for land in Portugal whilst they can’t work with a newborn in their VW camper etc. idk, I just think if it was me I’d have everything sorted for normal day to day stuff first and would probably look for a camper for all of us to travel together and easily before looking to move countries

did they abandon Portugal? at this point, with the baby, not sure I'd try to do that. the properties they were looking at seemed rather remote so getting materials and equipment to the job site would be a full time job.

Even the Expawers, who are a gazillion times brighter and more capable than this pair of buffoons, decided that buying land in Portugal was a non starter. Even the most minimal research would have revealed this to the Beans.

I see the Radford's are off again. The more I watch the more I'm convinced that Steve is an alien lizard with how he licks his lips, lizardy! I wonder where Lyndsey will do her washing in Morocco, and how on earth Steve will get on with his video editing with their starlink not working there. Oh woe, oh catastrophy. No WiFi for the boys either.

I hope he's left his drone at home, they're illegal in Morocco

The more I watch the Travel Beans, the more I think they should stop pretending they still like traveling. They clearly don't want to leave England. Especially now they have a child.

I thought that's what they were setting up in the vlog last week when they dramatically said in the voice-over that their night in the van with Noah will decide whether they can still travel or if they should sell it.

I never understood their reasoning for getting that van in the first place. They already knew they were expecting when they bought it, so they knew it would be hard with a baby considering the many things that need upgrading and the little space it has. That's not even considering the costs of renting a garage for 9 months of the year to park it safely.
I still believe selling it and getting another one in England that they can renovate is the best option for them. It's popular content and they can stay at home and enjoy the first year of their son's life without the constant stress of packing and being on the road.

Totally agree. I think they are focusing on videos they think will perform, rather than what they genuinely want to do. Viewers can see through this inauthenticity eventually. It must be hard to have your entire income based on YouTube video content alone. Unless you manage to make it so successful and flexible your audience will follow whatever you do - like Eamon and Bec. Although even they are long sighted enough to shore up their funds with merchandise drops and an external business. Fell out of love with Beans a long time ago. They don’t feel genuine to me at all and while I thought the baby might make a difference, it’s made them seem even more fake in my eyes, like they’re struggling to hide it now.

Yeah, they're getting closer and closer to having their own thread on here too if they keep going this way. They started to lose my interest when Alex went to that god-awful extreme right-wing biker rally as if he was Louis Theroux. Then there was a period when Al seemed annoyed by Emma being carefree and not sticking to the plans he'd laid out and then they hitched their hook to Endless Adventure which ended spectacularly when the Beans' van exploded in Texas. They got an influx of donations AND the insurance money after that.

The lip licking is so annoying and I'm sick to death of hearing him giving updates about editing a video. The only reason they have any following is because there's no real competition that posts as regularly. I see their embarrassing begging to Hello Fresh finally worked though.

He mentions it wen he on about customs going in to Morocco

Ive got to the point I can’t watch them anymore he infuriates me that much… he’s such a smug twit

Not strictly van life though they do feature some van travel … it’s mostly boat life but anyone watched Josh + Ula a lovely couple who put a lot of effort into their channel and if they do, do ads they make sure they are entertaining to watch his Hello Fresh ones are hilarious.

That video was cringe making in the extreme, I think everyone and his dog know what hello fresh is, and it's got nothing to do with traveling.

one thing that I have been pondering is the stuff they put links in the description for, are they affiliate links? (how do you tell?), Because if they are they should be declaring them.

they don't actually have that many followers do they? Maybe I should set a channel up, the wanderings of walkdengirl

I've watched the last video, it was mentioned on there. That's interesting as when we tried to buy motorbikes for our business we were told they had to be for business use only, his business is making signs isn't it? It was a long time ago so maybe it's changed now
