Princess Anne definitely had a thing with Andrew Parker Bowles before he married Camilla. I haven't heard anything about post marriage.

The actor who played her in The Crown was fab.
I thought they had a dalliance more recently too. There were rumours her second marriage was in trouble, then a picture was released of them in their front room, seemingly out of nowhere for no reason!

I heard that too.. That they are in a sort of relationship

@BigMavis Why should Bea and Eugenie attend alone when all the other grandchildren bring their spouse? Apart from the whole heir to the throne the grandchildren are the same and should be treated the same. As if Peter and Zara couldn’t support each other? I get making cuts, but you should make sure not to show favouritism in that way. For example Jack has been around much more longer than Meghan but that’s no reason to cut her out and leave him in.
I think if there would have been cuts necessary, they might have left out all grandchildren in-laws apart from Kate (because Queen to be) and filled the seats with other close confidants.
Yeah I didn't really pay attention to the other spouses of grandkids but all could have not attended apart from Kate.
I attended a funeral a few weeks ago, under normal circumstances I would have had my kids and husband with me but they couldn't attend due to numbers.

It was Phil's express wish that his German family be present, their are descendants of his sisters.
I think the list is well in line with Phil's wishes, it's his immediate family (children, grandchildren and spouses), some Windsor cousins and his closest German relatives (from his sisters' children), so it's a fairly tight family funeral and family was more important than dynastic invitations.

The current (abolished) main line to the Greek throne aren't that close relatives of Phil, it's his uncle's descendants.
The Danes aren't that close relatives either, but the only still active ones, so they'll honour a prince of Denmark.

The Daily Mail are as good as telling people that Penny was Philip’s mistress. They‘re not even being subtle about it! I think the Queen’s marriage was complicated, like a lot of marriages actually, and although they hadn’t actually been together in that sense for a very long time, they retained a warmth and affection for one another.

Are the press making a meal of the placement of Will & Harry in the procession or is it significant.
Separated by Peter Philips, is he the referee tomorrow in case they can't behave themselves.
I'm expecting a Queen vic showdown.
I think it is and isn't.

On one hand it'll stop eagle eyes comapring how the brothers interact, on the other hand processions have the main mourners only who walk behind the coffin (closest relatives, sometimes mostly or only males even), first children (incl Anne), which are pairs, then grandsons (3), then spouses and relatives (also easily pairs), the only odd number is grandsons.

I think the grandson threesome makes sense logistically, but is also a convenient PR tool.

Yes I think that's probably the case. I think a lot of older people stuck it out in marriages that wouldn't last these days. That's not really a good thing for 'normal' people, to have to live with someone they cant stand, but it is probably easier if you have the space to be separate physically, and have relationships with other people. I think maybe their relationship became one of best friends rather than husband and wife, and his new partner (of 30 years) was Penny. HM must have been at least reconciled to it if she has made the cut. It would be so easy to invite an extra German relative or cousin or something and cut her out, using Covid as an excuse if she really wanted to.

Was that not a photo of them watching the Calcutta cup? Anne is the patron of Scottish rugby so was showing her support since she couldn’t attend in person like she usually does.

They are making a meal of it but l think it probably does have some significance. They didn't speak to each other at the last engagement and l can only think the Oprah Opera has only made things worse.

Anne’s In Gloucestershire most the time and he’s in London for work stuff, this was pre Covid

They go sailing every summer and watch rugby though, think their probably more friends than romantic couple

I just found it interesting that only one of the Queen's Windsor cousins was missed out (Prince Michael) and also the only living Mountbatten cousin and probably his only living first cousin on either side, Lady Pamela Hicks; Penny Mountbatten (both of 'em!) married in.

The Queen is a better woman than I as I could never invite my husband’s mistresses to his funeral. Gosh, did he have it written done beforehand in the planning? Cheeky sod!
I don’t think it would matter if he had written it down. The funeral is ultimately decided by the next of kin. If the Queen didn’t want her there, she wouldn’t be. I mean, her being a mistress is speculation. There are very convincing arguments for it (I believe it) but you never know. It’s also unclear if the Queen is actually hurt by it. She and her late husband might very well have led lives apart and more as friends. At least, that’s how I see it. But I have met quite a few older couples that still live together but are separated yet still married. They care for each other deeply but still have their own lives and partners.
