Did it say in the article she moved her hair to read her name badge? why not just ask her name?
Tbh, name badge should be on display though. It's a waste issuing them otherwise and a bit disrespectful.

Although I wouldn't permit someone to touch my hair.

It's a shame DV has been sidelined, I've been in a safe house.

I find the hair touching discussion very interesting and enlightening. So thanks for this. I never heard of this particular issue and it’s ties to racism. But my country is known for being rather distant to strangers so this would probably only happen with curious children if the touched hair is very different from what they know. So I could see a child trying to touch an Afro or braids with lots of decorations in it. Elaborate braids are not uncommon for girls here though so they would have to be extra special to raise that kind of interest. And this kind of behaviour might be seen with children under 8. and even then it’s pretty much the norm that you don’t touch others without permission. Play situations are different but I never ever experienced a situation where older children or adults did touch the hair of someone else without asking. It would be seen as incredible rude and strange.
It’s a bit like touching babies or baby bumps without permission. I read it on the internet but it’s definitely more rare in my country. So thanks for education me about this.

She’s not a relative, she’s a daughter of an Earl and a widower of a Baron. She’s going to be fine. She’s been known for being a pompous prat. She’s got what she deserves really. Her behaviour has no place in modern society.
It reflects quite badly on Tom Bower, I think as well. He reported that Lady Hussey was tasked with helping Meghan Markle 'settle in' and said the marriage would end in tears. The implication being (because Bower clearly is anti Meghan and stated he wanted to 'destroy' her) that an experienced member of staff tried to help Meghan but saw that she wouldn't fit in, when it now looks like Lady Hussey has issues around respect for people of Colour and has extremely outdated views. It looks like she probably wasn't the right person to task with helping Meghan in the first place. Why on earth would you get an 80 year old pompous and snobbish woman to help someone 40 years younger settle in? I doubt this was the first unsavoury thing she had done.

Her hair had clearly fallen over her name badge, if she moved it without her permission. 'Im sorry, I can't see your name badge. Could I ask your name?' would have been sufficient. '

Does make you wonder how intelligent these people are when they do and say things which are offensive, despite knowing times have changed and it's no longer acceptable. In this case it does seem deliberate, but why do that?

She must have known it would overshadow the work done by Camilla and everyone involved, and again bring more negativity to the royal family. It's mind boggling, it really is.

They'll blame it on her age ,say she's senile .

It’s a point to be made, why do they have all these dinosaurs working around them? Trying to portray themselves as modern and for the people and they’ve got a load of staff that still reminisce about the empire. The family don’t appear to be the problem in most of these cases, just their useless staff that take away from the work being done. No wonder Camilla wants to do away with them.

I would have noticed my name badge wasn't on display and adjusted accordingly.

Possibly because they are employed on the basis of who they are, and how upper class they are rather than any ability. Although as a PP said, what does a Lady in Waiting do, apart from stand around socialising. Maybe in days gone by they didnt need to know anything, as the only people invited to Buckingham Palace receptions were people like them, but Charles has been having receptions for people who work with charities he supports for decades. He possibly kept his mother's ladies in Waiting at arms length.

I wear name badges a lot. I don't notice it at all once its on! What excuse do you have for her interrogating her as if she was in a police interview?

I didn't mention the conversation.

It was a very public media highlighted event where people didn't know each other and was supposed to be about violence which can end people's lives. So yes you do need to give an indicator as to why you were there.

Did you notice that? Are you are still saying tee hee someone can't see my name badge who cares? Don't bother putting yours on.

A lot of the old staff will feel the house of Windsor is crumbling now the Queen has gone and may be more opionionated than before .Camilla will be more in touch with the public ,she hasn't lived her life behind the royal curtain so would know what the public expect , possibly why she wants rid of them?

I would think the thought didn’t even begin to cross her mind. There a wonderful degree of entitlement among certain quarters that they think gives them carte blanche to be as rude or dismissive as the like, and its the fault of the other person if they take offence.

this lady was a LIW to The Queen for over 60 years, was Top Dog in the LIW circle, and must have been to hundreds of these events over the years. If she didn’t know how to act around people by now, It’s a bad job.

Well of course. Blame the woman who had her hair touched without permission and was interrogated as if she was some kind of interloper, not the racist. 🙄
That was a personal boundary issue. The woman obscured her name but it shouldn't have happened, either the name badge hiding or any touching.

I hate people touching my hair. Is it OK for people to do so because I'm not black?

You are ignoring domestic violence anyway...

I mean, it’s not like they don’t have previous for this sort of behaviour.

Camilla herself had a gollyw*g as a key ring in 2008.

Don’t you bleeping dare.

I think SH was asking where abouts in Africa the woman was from?

The woman has a name. She is called Ngozi Fulani. She told the racist that she was from Hackney. She’s not from bloody Africa. That should have been the end of that particular part of the conversation. Why not ask her about the amazing work she was being honoured for?
