What does a lady in waiting actually do? Just accompany the Queen everywhere? Surely there are plenty of assistants knocking around she could use anyway.
From what was reported recently, it looked like this was what she found. I understood she wasn’t going to have ladies in waiting.

Would love to know what she'd said. Lovely tough old boot she is, one cut from stern cloth.

Oh here's the 'story' from the Fail

https://www.12ft.io/https://www.dai...uckingham-Palace-aide-asking-Africa-from.html

What exactly is lovely about touching someone’s hair without their permission and being a racist?

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how much change he can and does effect. It’s not great timing for the palace with the trip to America by William and Kate.

Was lady Susan hussey the person who was supposed to help Meghan settle into the royal family? Or was that someone else?

Yes she was. She reportedly said that their marriage would ‘end in tears’. She sounds perfectly delightful 🙄

Yes, that’s the one.

Camilla doesn't want any LIW that's one less she'll have to deal with .

to be fair, she is 83 … I Would have expected her to retire now the Queen has gone, anyway.

The reported behaviour of Lady Susan Hussey, HM's longterm close friend and LIW, is so out of line in this day and age. In her position she should know better despite her great age.

She's like a dinosaur living in the past when Britain was head of the colonies and its subjects "grateful".

Yes, that’s the one.

Yes ,but it didn’t look like they were in any hurry to get rid of her ,probably out of respect for her dedication to the queen for all those years.

There will be comments like this all day long in that household but because of their PR machine they rarely get out. I'm sure Charles will get Kate to upload some pics she's taken of the kids or something to get this out of the news cycle soon
They’ll say it was a senior moment 😂

Don’t blame her

Why would you want the women that spent years badmouthing and gossiping about her hanging around the place
Did she badmouth Camilla too? Who are these people? Charles really does need a new broom to just get rid of the old guard and employ professionals ( and then actually listen to them)

Exactly. Would she have touched a white woman's hair without her permission or badgered a White guest over and over again over something that was irrelevant? She was an invited guest of Camilla. I wonder why she thought Harry's marriage would end in tears? I wonder why she thought Charles and Diana's, Andrew and Fergie and Anne's and Peter Phillips marriages ended in tears? Bet it wasn't the same reason.

I saw an invite that a lady received to go to Buckingham Palace. Very disappointed that whoever is in charge of creating these invites used the Handwriting font (actually called Handwriting) on Word to write her name. Can’t they get a calligrapher to make it look more professional?

Possibly.
Makes you wonder though. She’s not just a ‘palace aide’ or a lady in waiting, she’s also William’s godmother. Sounds like the perfect person to be the mentor of the future king. Not.

The BRF wouldn't be anxious to "get rid" of SH since she's the godmother to the Prince of Wales. It means a lot that the BRF forced her to resign. It had to be excruciating for the family. She is in the family, a relative, after all. She's old too. That makes it harder than if she were Princess Catherine's age.

I've had strange women touch my hair sans permission. It never occurred to me that I should get them figuratively crucified online or fired for it. It's rude, not hateful. Her words to the woman are the problem.

Maybe the BRF are best ended. I mean, this is not going to stop. Harry's book and Meghan's podcast will keep all of this criticism alive for years to come. How can the family ever be rid of criticisms from the Sussexes? If they revoke all titles and handouts to them, it will make the RF look just as all the many anti-royalist's criticisms and H & M's descriptions seem true. More fodder for the iconoclasts. Right?

On the other hand, how can the status quo go on?

What a mess.

How is she "in the family" other than as the PoW's godmother? How is she related? The only LIW that I understood could be considered a relative was Susan Rhodes, the daughter-in-law of Queen Elizabeth's cousin.

LIW was an unpaid post, purely honorary. Camilla had them changed to Ladies of the Household, removed their role in correspondence, transferring it to the professional staff, and they were simply expected to help out at big receptions such as this as hostess aides, as it were. This has given more reason for sweeping changes as they cannot be trusted even with this simple task.

Touching of black hair is a huge gesture of disrespect and is well known to be so. The meaning goes back centuries. Disrespecting someone's personal boundaries is always insulting and even more so when that person comes from a community where they historically had no rights whatsoever and were considered property rather than human. Unless you're also black, I'm rather aghast that you equate your hair being touched and don't appear to know about this indicator of racism.

Or they could just, you know, adapt, like other Royal Families have done, learn something, get rid of the elderly lackeys who see themselves as the protectors of the Purity of the Royal bloodline and maybe do a bit more.

I agree that Camilla's excellent work with domestic violence charities has been overshadowed by this. All the more reason to be selective as to who they allow to attend these events.

Wow. Good she is gone. While I can maybe and it’s a big maybe see to ask the question once - are you/your parents British or did you come from somewhere else - especially as her organisation (which must put people that do the grunt work in harms way sometimes so cuddos to the people on the front line) has such a specific ethnic focus. Or had in the beginning. But touching? That’s a big NO. And she should have stopped the second she got her first answer.
Even if she read Ms. Fulani‘s story, about her parents coming from the Caribbean and growing up as the only black family in the road. It was very obvious she didn’t want to be reduced to where her parents came from, even if this background was the starting point of her charity. SH should have dropped the topic and found a new angle for the conversation. BP probably needs to replace some more of the „old guard“ AND give them all some better conversation strategies. They appear rather robotic nowadays. It’s always the same and as we saw some are most definitely not suited anymore.

It was a combination of both. All the lady did was share her experience.

I mean, this is not going to stop.
Maybe don’t have people who work for the family with such outdated views?

This. I am not Black, and I have very curly hair. No one has ever touched my hair, apart from by very little children. I have Black friends who constantly have people touching their hair. It is hugely disrespectful and a massive invasion of space. Added to the barracking of the woman, who told her she was from Hackney, then constantly berating her. They need to retire these dinosaurs if they want to be seen as professional instead of surrounding themselves with people exactly like them.
