I think the issue with the Party at the Palace lineup is due to touring schedules. I’m really disappointed by it and so glad I didn’t get lucky in the ballot. I know Little Mix finished at the O2 last weekend but you’d think they would love to appear. And where is Robbie (I know in Oz), Queen Kylie (Commonwealth and adopted Brit), Take That?? Elton will be a pre record as he is on your. Harry Styles is another one. Just such a missed opportunity.

In other news, the Queen does not use a wheelchair and is fine health wise. As told to my hubby who knows a chef at the Palace.
 
Yes but the Platinum Jubilee is hardly a surprising event that has to be thrown together at the last minute. They could have asked people to keep dates free. I know she's very old, but surely Ed Sheeran could afford to take the hit if it had to be cancelled. I wonder if people didn't want to do it? surely some old crooners, and maybe a dog and horse show with a bit of a flypast would be enough if they didnt?
 
I’m not sure why people are “surprised“ by inclusions and omissions on the music lineup.

They are trying to organise a pop concert aimed at a woman in her late 90s. The entire thing is a giant oxymoron. Asking for “people the Queen might like” is pure conjecture.

That's what I mean. Why is it a pop concert? It's my mother in laws 80th birthday over the Jubilee weekend. Unless we wanted her to say ' Why is all this modern music so awful/ banging and crashing/ all sounds the same' for the whole day we wouldn't even think of doing any kind of pop music! Just do some animals, a bit of a play or something and some military band.

But it’s not wholly aimed at the Queen, the Royal website says they are musical tributes to celebrate the Jubilee. It’s been on the cards for ages so there’s no excuse for the shoddy line up - it’s such a C- line up it’s embarrassing!

I genuinely think she's just letting Charles take the reins (pun intended) more and getting the public used to seeing him as a King.

I don't think she's dying or anything but she is getting older and mobility is an issue. I think she's just going into semi retirement.

Massive difference being driven into a small arena and plonked in a seat wrapped in a shawl to watch some horses then massive state occasions like State Opening of Parliament or Trooping of Colour. If she suddenly felt unable to carry on during one of those can you imagine?? No slipping off halfway though.

The article said some members of the RF have vowed to ' do their bit' which is nebulous to say the least, and The Queen wore blue and yellow and ordered some flowers, which is a bit different to housing refugees! It could be that some minor Royals have applied to put up a refugee family. Sounds like something the Duchess of Kent or someone would do but she does a lot of things outside the limelight and I think taught in a State school for a long time. The Palace have leaked something that sounds like the major Royals have budged over to house refugees but the story is quite different.

I agree, it was a very woolly "fluff" piece with the headline not corresponding with the information in the actual article.

I do agree about the Duchess of Kent. If it was going to be anyone in the RF, it would be her. A lovely, humble woman by all accounts.
 
Surely the royal family cannot house Ukrainian refugees in their homes as they are tourist attractions when they are not inhabiting them. I imagine it would cause uproar too, housing refugees rather than people in this country who are in a bad place and homeless.

As has been said, I wouldn't be surprised if it was minor royals who were helping out. It may also be a kind piece of journalism to show royals in a good light, in response to negative news they've received lately.
