The O.C.

The O.C is probably one of my fave shows of all time tbh!

I got season 1 for my 10th birthday on DVD and I must have rewatched it over 20 times since 😂

When I was younger I loved Seth but I now realise Ryan is definitely the best character.

Really disliked season 4… truthfully after Marissa died I always wanted them to do a storyline where Ryan and Summer were bought together by her death and fell in love and it caused DRAMA. But nope 🙃

yeah after marissa died it went downhill. I liked Sandy @noseybirdxo but was disappointed when he joined that big law firm instead of doing that free one.
I don't know if anyone watched the (I think first) season of the Real Housewives of the OC, but there was a family on there that went through almost exactly the financial situation marissa's family did

oooh juicy!

Well, now, this is a thread I need to be involved with! I loved the OC, my library used to have it for free via dvd but in 3 episode chunks, waiting for each one was hard! I watched it at the start of the jan lockdown and I never regret watching it

This is already my favourite thread on this site 😍 I was obsessed with the OC and watched every episode as they aired. I think I was about 11 at the time and Seth was the geeky love of my life. When I later began rewatching it, I became a Ryan girl. I recently watched it earlier this year and I have to say I'm now truly a Sandy stan 🥰 I could listen to him saying "yogalates" on repeat.
ETA the finale still makes me tear up and have that "what am I going to watch now?" feeling. Definitely way too attached to this show.

i'm midway through season 2 and i'm getting quite bored tbh, Sandy 'the eyebrows' Cohen has just cheated on Kirsten, Marissa is still sulking, Seth and Summer are back and forth all the time - I don't remember it being this tedious when i was younger?!
Season 2 isn’t great IMO.

Rewatching this and One Tree Hill made me realise there are actually just a handful of standout episodes I love and the rest is more entertaining but not excellent. Season 2 lacks standout eps I feel, obvs the one where Caleb dies, the shooting… not sure what else tbh? Quite a lot of filler.

However I think the nostalgia means I’ll always find them fun to watch!

I haven't re watched it, but I think maybe watching it once a week made it seem more exciting, if you are watchcing multiple episodes in a row (or even just closer together) maybe this is why it seems repetitive?

yeah, this happens a lot with series when they have a really good first season - it's like they don't know what to do for the second!

my bf would be so much happier if i watched it less too haha

I know a lot of people disliked it when Marissa was killed off, but honestly I loved it for my boy Ryan's sake 😭 poor guy finally got to thrive once he got past the grieving. Marissa had issues with her dad being absent and Ryan stepped in almost as an authority figure and it got a bit boring for me having to watch him rescue her like a damsel in distress every time. I'm still mad about the Oliver situation 😭😭

Literally my favourite show EVER! I was absolutely obsessed and knew it word for word! I also bought all the soundtracks! We went on a family holiday to California in 2005 and I insisted on dragging my family to Newport Beach for the days just so as I could say I’d been to where it was set! I actually scooped some sand from the beach, put it in a pot and, 16 years later, I still have it in a draw somewhere 🤣🤣 I also bought this top while I was there and found it recently while I was clearing out some cupboards. Had to explain to my fiancé who is 7 years younger than me who Seth Cohen is 🤣🤣🙈🙈
